Millenials should not trades but study hard and become electronics and software Ph.D's who earn a country's bread through export of digital products. Nowadays corporate freshmen earn $50000 as first yearly income and there are 1 million $100000 earners for a population of 50 millions therefore in the US 6 million college graudates earn over $100000. Times have changed , the world has changed, as Alvin Toffler told the whole world about 3 decades ago. Thus, river and mountains have changed three times since Toffler said the world is changing.
Trades are so overlooked. I did 5 years at university for an engineering degree and one of my good friends went the trade route. Needless to say, he earns more than me with no earnings cap (minimal debt) and similarly has obtained invaluable hands on skills (He's getting ready to start his own business). Nothing but respect for this king. 105k-125k in Texas is awesome.
@@iangraham5320 I graduated college with zero debt, but took me 8 years to get a STEM degree. I feel as though people should start school later in life and figure out what they want to do before pulling loans.
@@tysolomano5754 Americans should try and restructure how school debt is done too - here in Australia you don't even pay back your loans until you start earning over a certain amount per year and even then it only gets deducted from your tax return (so you're not paying it off like a private car loan or mortgage etc). Lower interest too because banks here aren't allowed to privatise university debt.
@@iangraham5320 I mean that is a very general statement just because some people do that does not make that true. People with a good college degree still make way more than people who dont
That maybe true, but you have better/higher pay progression and it isn't commission based. On top of that, you only work 40 hours a week. This guy is working 10-12 hours 6-7 days a week.
But the difference is you sit in an air conditioned office, work 9-5, have a nice cushy lunch break, and you can be an engineer until you're 60+. Labor jobs stop when your body stops probably when you're in your early 50s. Big difference.
Yes sir. I did the same thing. Switched from govt job to become union electrician after I got accepted into Union apprenticeship program in PA. Literally the best decision in my life. My local provided us with free education, brand new tools for us to keep, college tuition and laptops to do our online classes. I wish people were encouraged to get into trades more. We have too many college graduates with useless degrees (like my English one), and not enough competent plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, etc.
Well advocate for the trades to pay more per hour starting out, knowing that most people are coming from college with debt. A college graduate can't live on a 12-14 dollar an hour wage with 10's of thousands of student loan debt. The trades are just not attracting talent due to their low wages. Plus, there's many career choices for you with an English degree, you just need to do your research and see what path fits you best. I wouldn't call it a pointless degree comparable to actual pointless degree like A.A. studies or basket weaving.

Welders in CA can go up to 150K or higher with time with a 9 month Welders program. No student loans. Construction can be 100K-250K per year if you are sub working for yourself. Many Construction workers own multiple small houses in underserved areas and keep them as rentals. No loans as they don't have to keep up with the Joneses. Not necessarily. As an employee, he needs technical skills. I worked commercial construction for 30 years. Plumbers, electricians and pipe fitters always made bank. It's the finish trade guys that had to really work it to make good money. Floor installers, Drywall finishers and painters usually do best working for themselves. I know a guy that is a diesel mechanic for a medium size city that makes 80K plus fantastic benefits. Also working in the trades you get a chance to stay in great shape. Your up and moving all day. I remember working with this one pipe fitter that was built like a body builder. He didn't work out at all. It all came from just going to work. Most of the guys will move up to management as they got older so the physical part get easier. I remember running into some of the guys I went to high school with in my thirties. These guys went on to college and got desk jobs. They were fat slobs that couldn't run across a parking lot. In my thirties the local red cross was having a 10K fundraiser. I ran it to help raise a little money. After the race one of my sponsors ask how long I had been running. @@ademar_ofthewest Couple of suggestions for you. 1. Pick what trade you're curious about and go visit a non-union contractor. You may get a job or you might just make a contact. If you aren't satisfied with the result, go to another contractor. 2. Go to the union hall of the trade you're curious about and ask for the apprenticeship program. You might get some answers there. You are far more likely to get direct results visiting (or calling) non-union shops because they are more likely to make a decision right then. The union will probably be far more bureaucratic and have many more hoops to jump through before you make any noticeable headway.

when you work for the large plumbing companies like this guy does, you make a sales commission selling people water waters / tankless water heaters / water softeners, etc. and some places give you a commission on every job you go to, PLUS the hourly wage.

This entire video is angled as some "wow, look what pulling up those bootstraps can really do", but as a Norwegian this sounds like nightmare. Quick recap: - No sparetime, always on the clock. His salary is heavily padded by overtime and salesbonuses. His base wage is probably half, if that, of what he's expected to earn. In Norway we have strong unions that work with an equality principle. It doesn't matter if you're a cashier or a 10 year IT consultant, your wages should be as close to equal as possible without causing a massive class divide. You don't have to spend all your sparetime on overtime just to make a great living as a plumber here. - Does this state not have any regulations? Pipes burst everywhere and flooded basically every home he talked about during the winter, how can this be? One house didn't even have any guards against sewage flowing back into their home. No way any of that would be legal in Norway and would demand the homeowner fix these glaring issues immediately, although there would initially not be any issues as the homebuilder would be required by law to build it up to code. - He spends all his sparetime to save up all his money so his wife can get surgery? He can't even spend that money on himself and his family, insane. These people could all be making minimal wage, barely getting by and their surgery, sick leave and sick pay would all be covered by the state. Here he could make great money as a plumber, his wife could get surgery entirely for free, and he could spend their money on the things they want to as a family. I don't think I'd be able to live without deep anxiety in Texas if this is normal. One surgery away from poverty unless I spend all my time on overtime, hopefully getting enough sales to increase my hourly rate.
Awesome video! I’m super happy for him. It sounds like he enjoys what he is doing and is getting paid well for it too. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Great job Richard ! Going to a trade school to enter the HVAC field was one of the best decisions I ever made. Now I'm a welder for a defense corporation.
Good to hear from you after all these years, glad to see your doing good in life!
This is an exception. Looked it up. Plumbers make an average of 45K to 56K in San Antonio.
In SATX, it’s $365 to snake a drain, over $1,000 for a water heater replacement of course over $100k in profits at those prices.
Trade jobs are so rewarding on so many levels and I hate that they get overlooked.... I've seen ppl with true skill use all of their potential in their trade and its just awesome.... this is what society needs to start pushing because we need more ppl like him
His kids look just like him, what a sweet man, I'm so happy this path unfolded before him when he needed some direction.
I graduated with an associate degree in engineering at a community college then next task was to work on my bachelors of electrical engineering . I went to a University that cost $1k for 1 class and my part time job were cutting hours. I try to get to an entry job but I got rejected allot which I decided to drop out and work as an electrician apprentice. Rn I’m heading to 2nd year, I enjoy waking up in the morning and put in the work/hours. My life is great 👍
Plumbing is extremely important and much appreciated work. Believe me, I’ve seen disasters when plumbing fail. This guy is smart!
Nice you should show even more tradesmen and union type jobs, so that people know there are more options than college.
Unions are KEY to making money in the trades
Been a trucker for 8 solid years i was 22 when I got my cdl first year I made 50k and the following years I’ve mage 80-120k a year. I’m a college drop out and don’t regret one bit. My friends are stuck with 40-120k in debt and some of them have worthless degrees like gender studies, African studies, Mexican American studies, liberal arts etc. I do have some friends that became architects and another an oil engineer and they make around 100k. I got a house fully paid for in Southern California and got my friends with debt renting rooms here. I make 2k cash just from renting 3 rooms to them.
@@jalamela1480 Man I'm glad I clicked on this video ! Very inspiring story! I've definitely felt like college has always been pushed at home, still is. Sometimes I worry if I'd be a good tradesman. Im currently thinking about plumbing as of right now. Lots of opportunities out there for it.
@@johnpattenude5450 you will obviously start from the bottom, but the more u learn the more you’ll make. You will not always make
Minimum wage learning a trade. Ever thought about trucking? I mean it sounds boring, but it has given me a very good living. You can move anywhere in the country and you will NEVER be out of work. We are also a recession proof job. We move America. I get paid every Friday and I just saw my pay stub today I’m taking home $1976.84 after taxes for 5 days work. You can eventually get your own semi truck 🚛 if u want and make more working for yourself, but that’s every industry.
@@jalamela1480 Hey! Thank you for the recommendation! I finally found a way into the plumbing Industry and a hookup for tools! I'll have to keep you updated and let you know if I switch around. I think trucking is a great alternative. How was the health care benefits? I need some really good insurance due to having 4 open heart surgeries 💯😂.
I’m a master plumber here in san antonio tx , congratulations man ! also when u wear out of running on call and weekends give me a holler! we don’t do on call or work weekends, we’re the new gen of plumbers lol ! seriously
Hello lander is, happy valentines
My mans is a rockstar, tell him more about your sociology degree that cost 100k.
BIG FACTS
Good for this guy. Fortunately I got my degree for free because of football and chased the dream after college to play professionally. Made it to Canada and the arena league and an nfl tryout but never got there. I’ve worked construction for my dad and my uncle my whole life so I got into the fire protection and the rest is history. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Made over 100k every year since I finished my 5 year apprenticeship on a service van and I truly love the work. Getting dirty and something different everyday.
Dropped out and makin 105k a year that’s crazy🔥🔥
what a wonderful human being is . Impressed . doing a job that he loves and then he has a good family . what can you ask more from life ?
Seems like a good dude. Good for him man. Get that money
I dropped out of texas a&m and became an ac technician...first year made 60k at 25 now in 30 and clear 100k a year...my friends from college dont make as much and still paying loans...from Alamo heights

Working with Romero pieto is the best thing that can happen to a beginner trader who is aspiring to be fruitful out of the market he is trustworthy and straightforward we surely need more men like him in trading world.
Good good content.
Yes I'm a living testimony of Romero pieto his platform has also done a great thing for me.
I've seen so many review about this man called Romero pieto who is he ?
Great story. He also has great taste in tools. Milwaukee for the win!
weird, im a similar age and in the UK it was the exact same situation.... ''the dumb'' kids were encouraged to the trades while the rest would get ''proper jobs''.... now im in my 30's and hugely jelous of all my buddies in the trades.... they get paid more than everyone and they dont dred going to work like the office folk do
Representing San Antonio! Thank you for all you and bluefrog do for us!!!❤️❤️
This entire video is angled as some "wow, look what pulling up those bootstraps can really do", but as a Norwegian this sounds like nightmare.
Quick recap:
- No sparetime, always on the clock.
Thank you for calling this out. Unfortunately it feels like it's normal here. The people here in Texas are brainwashed.
Awesome video! I’m super happy for him. It sounds like he enjoys what he is doing and is getting paid well for it too. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Dope!! I have a janitorial business and make really good money as well. Dope video!!
I like this guy. He's got a great attitude. Good to see Young Men doing well in life like this.
Help me understand *why the need to compare and make comments about (1) college degrees versus the trades, (2) who's doing better and (3) making it out to be a competitive vicious thing versus saluting anyone that's accomplishing what they want? Who's being snobby about a job? Please teach me!*
I'm 24 Years old from Greece, Athens.. I got into university Business Management but I dropped out.. now I applied into Plumbing school for next 2 years and I can't wait to learn that trade... I realise that Office job has many disadvantages.. too much stress , responsibilities , and of course I avoided the loans.. Plumbing School is 3k for 2 years and you get more time free to learn a language.
I'm proud that my parents were so much happier when I told them about Plumbing, rather than University...
All my friends have university degrees and they get minimum amount of money.
*Trades can be a very lucrative profession for folks who have a lot of hustle and drive in them!! I know a man who works in construction that makes $170K per year!*
How many hours per week average to hit that number?
@@skylinec83 Trade is for amateurs who doesn't know how to read balance sheet and analyze companies so the absolute majority of traders don't last. Invest instead.
They're not talking about trading stocks dude. They're talking about blue collar jobs
@@Bursted15 I’m aware. I was talking about Trade industries, as were they. Hence my reference to construction.
@@miriamstrauss he’s referring to the comment by James Franko with clearly misguided understanding of the word “trade”. He is assuming stock or equities trader whereas the rest of us are talking about people working in the trades craft.
Finally a good episode. That's a hard working dude.
As the value goes up, heads start to swivel and skeptics begin to soften. Starting a new currency is easy, anyone can do it. The trick is getting people to accept it because it is their use that gives the “money” value
The reason we are all here is that the current financial system is outdated.
I am very excited about the prospect of using cryptocurrency, not just as a money equivalent, but using it as a way to earn something as a result of doing some type of work.
I see Bitcoin as ultimately becoming a reserve currency for banks, playing much the same role as gold did in the early days of banking. Banks could issue digital cash with greater anonymity and lighter weight, more efficient transactions.
I Had interest in investing crypto but I am discouraged by dip and some friend and family, I was being ignorant though
@@pbyrunguys2765 Dont be discouraged by friends, the dip is just an opportunity to get more cryptos..
This is a clear example that hard work pays off. Congratulations and keep it up!
These are the kind of people I want to be friends with. People that know what is important and know the value of a hard day's work.
I'm in the construction industry and this is not the norm. The median pay is around $45,000 across the trades. Majority of top earners make around $70,000 after a decade or 2. Those that make 6 figures are specialized in a niche.
I want to see more trades highlighted on this channel in the future. People really need to have their eyes opened up to how much they are missing out by only thinking that traditional school is the way forward because their parents told them to. Break the cycle, and let's lift people out of poverty, shall we?
Great idea in theory, but take a closer look at his story. His dad was in the trade and set him up with an apprenticeship with an established company. Don't downplay how difficult it is to get into an apprenticeship and union. At least school gives you the opportunity to compete. with these trades it has nothing to do with skill. It's all who you know. Add being a minority to the mix and it's even tougher. Female? Forget it. I've tried trades, known family and friends who've tried them. Compared to college it's not that big a difference unless you have an in.
@@pennsylvan3436 lol. whatever you just said applies 10x more to college and white collar jobs. many MNCs recruit based on referrals or connections, and these start from internships. how many minorities are in investment banking or law? perhaps the only legitimate concern is if you are female, in which case it is physically less suitable for you to do a trade. doesnt mean you cant get good at it though.
@@MotherOfGodsoOP tried trades and it didn't work. Went to college on a scholarship and got a job making close to him a year out of school. What you said DEFINITELY applies to banking. But the game is in your favor more if you go to school and pick the right profession and do the right thing. People tried to sell me the same thing you did "trades are great they are awesome you don't need college". Well unless you are a male with an in (and a minority in most parts of the country), you won't be making it. Add on the fact that you're easily replaceable with another apprenticeship or intern and yea no job security. I've got family in trades. Plumbing, hvac, electrical, etc. Known many people male AND female in trades. Just like college, RESULTS MAY VARY. (Also if you want to make top dollar as a plumber you become a masters plumber which requires at least 4 years of post sec education
@@pennsylvan3436 there's new trades emerging that are white collar and fit the remote culture. Just recently, digital marketing for example became an official recognized trade by the federal government which you can get paid for by them to be put into a $40-60k position out the gate. There's also networking, cyber security, cloud architecture, obviously coding, system admin, etc. You don't necessarily have to do these blue collar roles but people really don't think about this as the alternative and it's far superior to get in this way because you will be already networking from the trade school you'll be in.
@@infini.tesimo yep you're right about that. This video is about blue collar trades and I'm assuming that's what the other commenter is mentioning. Technology is completely different from blue collar jobs and the opportunity for growth and earning potential in those fields is huge.
I've looked into some of those fields as a backup for my current work. While you can get in without college I will say entry positions are significantly difficult to obtain given many positions require testing and many applicants that do have a degree. It's hard out here. But if I could start over, instead of blue collar or college, I would def do some self made projects, gather a portfolio, and do tech
I had that same talk when I was growing up that being a tradesman is bad I've been in the trades since 18now in my 30s love it

Yea, they only do that for the Millennial money video series (titles like 'Living on _ per year in _ | Millennial Money'). The ones that focus on the job, the apartment, etc don't have the financial breakdown.
@Nicholas Seamans This guy isn't paying 'rent.' He's paying a mortgage and there's other fees that goes into that. Also, including the fact he has a family as well, so he most likely has some form of childcare expenses if his wife is working as well, all these things add up, which aren't 'cheap.'
My friend is a plumber and he came out to replace a pump at my house. Came up at night after 7 PM worked for a couple hours on it. I ordered us a pizza and soda. I knew he had not had any food in who knows how long. He appreciated it.

Agreed. Nobody will say this, they only look at $$$. My buddy is a welder, makes 6 figs, but works 25-40 hrs OT a week with 4 kids. Not worth it
With a trade you can have a family if you are smart financially
I went to college as well, graduated with a BS and decided to go into a trade, making way more money than I was working at a hospital. I actually met a patient that was a plumber and he worked under his dad making over 150k a year, didn’t believe him till he showed me his paychecks. Apparently, his dad had a contract with businesses in LA that would constantly need plumbing work done.
Yea, but you didn't specifically say why that plumber was 'patient' in the hospital, that would make me reconsider. Money is subjective and if you don't like doing the work it won't matter how much you make anywhere, especially when you work nearly everyday of the week.
Wait but what was your bs in, because if its in nursing I thought nurses make good money
@@mister0sir I had a BS in kinesiology, worked as a PT aide making only $11 an hr in 2015, then only maxed out at $15 an hr. Went into a trade and making double to triple what I made.
