Should tape on metal reels be bulk erased by removing one reel side? I have tried on some 10.5" reels and it's like the metal frame is blocking the erasure a bit.

Will a bulk eraser demagnetize tools such as screwdriver tips? How about a tape head demagnetizer?

What is the best type of bulk eraser should I use? Are they all old or do they sell newer ones now by any chance?

People will say it is my imagination but I swear that even new tape, when bulk erased, has a lower noise floor than out of the box.
