The original motor for the latch was a poorly functioning underpowered underrated for the job. Failure was common on the 2008 -2010 Chrysler Sebring Convertible models. Mine failed and it was such a common problem that I had to wait months for back ordered part. I had dealer repair it at a cost of $1200. Now you can buy the replacement motor aftermarket for about $250 -$300 RANGE. Many local shops won't repair these because of the proprietary software program that operates the top is not available to them.
Can you explain how to manually release the latch on the hardtop when the roof is locked and the motor does not release the latch and the manual gear will not turn. The window work and the trunk lid opens and preps but the roof won’t come down because the latch won’t release.
Before you buy the lack motor or the pump check you wiring. I have the replacement latch that was not needed. See my video of the electrical wiring fix.
If you live anywhere near the Sarasota/ Bradenton Florida area, I found a very good dealership with a good convertible top mechanic that I can recommend.
hello!! after much trial & error we were able to remove the top & replace the dead motor, thank you!! :] However we unfortunately found a new issue.. when the tonneau should go up, the hydraulic motor (in the rear-left of the trunk) just shakes & won't progress further. Have you ever came across this problem in your experiences? Any insight would be much appreciated, thank you so much!!
Hey Chris the switch for the rear plastic cover to let top to trunk . Look at instructions sticker at rear. If the plastic knob not pushing down on switch on right side and will not close. Its also common the wire came off rear release motor for trunk. Its at the top middle of deck.
@@erics.8733 appreciate you getting back yeah I got it to unlock it was pretty hard to get it to trn the motor was gone that's probably why I couldn't trn it all that good. the new one was smooth so I guess that tells me the motor was gone. the convertible top still didn't open up maybe it's a computer thing at least I got one thing done on it thanks
If you pull the center pin that is attached to the motor down some like you are about to take it out then turn the pin. It was easy to turn after that.

Do you know what happened to the part after the 2010 model?..did it get upgraded or are they still the same

How does the header plug In ?
you dont need to replace the entire header plate
Because for Gen 3
they are no longer available
you only need to replace the motor
You only need to replacs the motor. It gets weak and will not work right..

The software program that operates the top sometimes gets out of sync, so I am told by local shops.

Its common for wiring in RR trunk lid wiring broken inside harness.From lid to rr trunk. The top lock motor you can order from amazon $250.00
