Conan actually did a great low-key job of keeping everybody calm in a situation that could have been genuinely horrible.

Turning what would normally be a blooper into actual show content--one of the many reasons he's still my favorite!
That brief moment of panic on Conan's face is so genuine, you hear a sound like that out of nowhere and all your hairs stand on end

I saw this episode live and I believe the alarm came back on later as the night went on, but it was hilarious and a testament to Conan's improv skills as many have already said in the comments.

I had mishaps happen while in a Show in the time I did standup Comedy with very little training It was in 1998 My Friend/Crush was in the Audience I was supposed to come riding a bike with a Surfboard in the back I jumped into the stage lights As I was getting ready to do my opening joke The SurfBoard falls to the Floor I look at it then the Audience Back at the SurfBoard then Back at the Audience then said Um I meant to do that (that wasnt even a joke it really was unplanned) Somebody after the show told me Good save ur prop falls unplanned and u made a joke about it I think Conan Influenced me is how I managed to turn my Mishap into a joke Thanks Conan now If u excuse me I need to find away to get Jimmy Fallon fired so I take the TonightShow and 7 months Later Leno steals it away and I get a Show at TBS just like Conan
