I have the patina finish and I could not be happier. The rust just makes it that much nicer and hides and looks brand new. The stainless will burn. Up and blacken.
I have the x24 with the sear plate. Love it. Far better quality and makes more heat than solo stove. I use a shop vac for the ash, takes about a minute.
Just keep in mind if you go the stainless route: A brand new stainless steel fire pit still has its protective top layer. Ones you had a couple of fires in it you will get rust. Especially on the inside surfaces. No matter the brand. I am not living even near an ocean, always have my Breeo under a cover and it does not rain much where I live. I am religious about removing ashes. No water inside of course. Low humidity air. It sits on pavers. After not even 15 burns over a year the X in my 24 x-series is rusting like hell. In the Breeo and associate videos it often seems like "a little cleaning and it will shine like new because it is stainless". After a deep cleaning the outside surely looks better than before, but especially the inside will continue rusting. You cannot really get rid of that. Stainless steel will rust - because of the heat the metal is exposed to it can't really be prevented. I never thought much about that before. When I thought about stainless I had boat equipment and pool ladders in my mind. I thought they don't really rust. Those things might get a patina over time. Some oxidation marks, but that should be it. A fire pit however is exposed to extreme heat. So no way Breeo holds up a lifetime if that is what you think. Their limited lifetime warranty only covers the first 5 years against rusting through. So that is the life span they believe in. I checked that after my purchase. My fault. It does not mean yours will be unusable after 5 years, but according to the warranty chances are pretty high. Too high for Breeo and their warranty. Breeo's warranty is not like Leatherman's or Zippo's. I initially got attracted by all their well-made youtube ads and perfectly placed texts in forums. Don't get me wrong. A Breeo surely is nice, but to my mind they are overpriced. The overall quality is not as they tell in their videos. 304 stainless is the cheapest stainless you get, most bottom edges remain sharp, plenty of parts are just bent to form rather than being welded and the weldings look mediocre - some even really bad. It is made in the U.S. which should be good, but honestly...some of the Chinese weldings look better. Considering the price point I am not impressed. And you might be mistake if you believe it wouldn't rust. Any stainless fire pit will rust. I should have known or informed myself better. My initial euphoria is gone and I probably would not get myself another Breeo. I still like it, but considering they money I have spent, I expected more and found out that you can get similar for a lot less. Costco has a stainless steel pit for under 300. Solo Stove costs only half of a Breeo of the same size. And there are other brands popping up. I guess none of them is better than a Breeo, but also none of them really is worse. You surely get thinner materials, but for a fraction of the costs of a Breeo you still can get a new one after 5-8 years. No illusions, in the end Breeo will maybe last 2 or 3 years longer due to the thicker steel. But then even a Breeo most likely will need a replacement. That said, I don't want to talk Breeo down or Solo or whatever brand up. I just say I didn't do my homework before buying, paid big money and learned my lesson. Just be realistic with your expectations and you'll be okay. Anyway, enjoy your fires and the nights you spend with your loved ones.
Totally agree with just about everything you said but I'd absolutely NOT consider the Solo Stove. I had an older breeo and wanted something bigger so I decided to buy the Solo Stove Yukon. Out of the vox, it was dented and it was obvious that it was damaged at the factory in China where they are made as there was no damage to the box. Tried to return it and literally couldn't because customer service is non-existent. Believe me I tried everything to reach the company. Ended up selling it to a neighbor and got the breeo x24 and couldn't be happier. The breeo may not be refined but it's definitely built like a tank. Sure I'll need to buy a new one eventually but from prior experience I can see this thing lasting 10 years or so with moderate use.
I love the sear plate, and I agree that, because of the high temperature it's clean (meaning sanitary). I just scrap anything particulate off into the fire while it's still hot, and I don't worry about the discoloration. I consider it seasoning.
I'm sold on the Breeo X19, and love the tip about using a stand and getting more heat out of the bottom, and consuming less fuel, in the Northeast, we love heat from our fires! Great job with these videos.
Just pulled the trigger on a 24, stainless steel version. Didn’t like paying so much but we’ve gone through two or three big box store fire pits over the past 6 - 8 years and that adds up! “Buy once, cry once” I know that the corten steel is supposed to be fine and last a long time but just couldn’t stomach having a rusty one in the yard. We’ve already had rusty ones all these years for a lot less money. 😂. I also don’t want rust stains on my patio pavers.
I went with the snowpeak takibi firepit made from 316ss and its as good as new after years of use. I am tempted to get a dedicated home firepit like the breeo or just get snowpeaks Floga, smokeless attachment to complete the kit 🔥🏕️🇨🇦❄️
Great video, you mentioned a ton of things like the heat output out of the bottom along with the recommendation for the stand for the Breeo. Thank you for the great video!
Are you cleaning sear plate, Have you tried an onion? It’s my preferred approach to grill cleaning. You cut a regular cooking onion in half and skewers with a barbecue fork. Use the fork is a handle and rub the Cut face of the onion on the hot cooking surface. The grill grounds will begin to sizzle and slide off.
Awesome reviews. I do have a question about the corten though. Would it "bleed" say over a concrete patio and potentially stain it? I wish it's just minimal because I really like the look of corten vs ss. Thanks.
@@BreakItYourself thanks for the reply. What if but the base? How much did it "bleed" for you? Thanks for the content, I am buying a Breeo today with the Labor Day discount.
It would be nice if they'd make a dome full cover that slide left or right for a hole to direct the heat and large enough not to hurt the unit. Make all search plates with holes for cooking racks on both ends even using one stand this way if somebody wants to but another rack the units ready.
Thanks for the review update. I’m shopping for the X-Series 24, but can’t decide between the Sear Plate or Standard. Other than the obvious difference of being able to cook on the sear plate and the need to clean, are there any other concerns that came up in your year long experience. Would be interested in hearing whether the Sear plate affects its use as a fire pit and it’s ability to keep folks warm around the fire. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I have an x-24. Standard issue. I use the standard issue seat plate with no problems. I haven’t cooked for dozens of people but for small parties of 6 or so.. it fine. I’ve had mine since February 2020 in western NY. It stays outside but covered. Looks used but in great shape. And… gets used a lot, even when it’s 20 degrees. I also have 4 friends that bought one because they saw ours in action. Really… you can’t go wrong with it if you like fires and or grilling. It’s pretty freaking cool!!!
Great insights on the long term durability of the breeo I'm always tempted to buy one fire home. I've been enjoying the snowpeak takibi firepit made from 316ss for years. It's throws a tonne of heat (even to your feet) and uses very little wood. It would be great to compare snowpeak firepit and it's Floga smokeless attachment to the Breeo for the full user experience? I might end up buying a Breeo X series just for home? Thanks 🔥 🏕️ 🇨🇦 ❄️
Thanks, good review. It looks like it won't last 20 years, at least inners (X) yours looks pretty rusted after 1 year, at least lifetime warranty, if they are around. A friend has a solo bonfire, which I saw your comparison on, his works awesome, and they now have many attachments for. Leaning towards the Solo, hate that its mostly produced in China.
FYI…it’s not going to rust. I’ve had one for over two years and no issues. I do cover it with a vinyl cover from lowes or someplace. The sole is not as nice… not as fun. This breed is an attention getter and brings people together. It’s just nice to be around it with friends.
2 questions please! If it gets wet, does the corten steel pit give off any rust staining on your patio area? Does the amistad foot rest base get super hot, as in you couldn't put your feet on it? Thanks!
have you experimented with using a heat diffuser? I noticed that Solostove is now selling heat diffuser lids to try and direct more heat towards the sides
Thanks for the helpful video! The Amistad stand looks amazing! Have you had any experience with any Heat Deflectors for the Breeo, I see Amistad makes one. Would love to hear your opinion on it.
Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with the amistad heat deflector. I’d suggest joining a Breeo group on Facebook and searching to see if anyone has a post about one.
I noticed that even with the Amistad stand, it was still elevated. Is that necessary when placing on the patio? I’m asking because I’m interested in getting the stand with casters for our concrete patio.
Anyone have issues with burn through? Noticed they only warranty that aspect for 5 years. Do you think it will last longer than 5 years with normal use?
You can see where it will eventually rust through. It is too expensive for a rust bucket. I am not sure if the stainless steel would be any better. I appreciate that they gave this to you free but it looks like junk.
? ? ? 💥 Q U E S T I O N - If I use a Breeo 19 or 24 with sear plate on my painted deck to cook, will I get fly ash or grease spatter onto my decking or any grease dripping out the bottom onto my deck? Same question if I use an outpost, is it messy on the deck? I understand it would depend on how careful I am but I don't want grease and grime deposits that are difficult to clean, especially in cold snowy winter.
Do these millennials know that all you need to do is while still hot after you takeoff any food just use a Brillo pad on the end of any 12 to 18 inch plastic or metal rod and scrub with a light cooking oil and Wala you have a perfectly clean and then oil cooking surface
I guess I do not see the purpose of this fire pit. If you cannot put it on grass, concrete, or wood. A user has to buy accessories to be able to use the grill on concrete or wood. I would think the manufacture would have thought of this in the design. Lastly it does not give radiant heat to keep you warm unless it is raised up. Again, why was that not part of the design? I understand it is smokeless, but to me seem worthless as it is designed out of the box.
I don't care what "patina" you want to call it. IT IS RUST!!! It will eventually rust through! What a bunch of crap. What is scary is it rusted with a cover on it!!! I thought I wanted a Breeo, but not after seeing this video. The ring also looks damaged? I wanted to cook on it as well so this is now out of the question.
Believe it or not the patina version will outlast any stainless steel out there. Think industrial vs commercial. This is why bridges are made with the corten steel.
Got the x24 yesterday for anni present for husband. Hope he loves! Your reviews helped me decide, ty! 😊

Spot on. I like my Breeo but I probably wouldn't buy another.
Yep. The solo stove bonfire is $220. And will probably last just as long.
I have the X30 no sear plate. It works well to just sit a cast iron pan on the rim for searing as well. Keeps it clean!
Genius!
Been torn on getting the sear plate... I think you just made up my mind!!! Great idea!!!
I love the sear plate, and I agree that, because of the high temperature it's clean (meaning sanitary). I just scrap anything particulate off into the fire while it's still hot, and I don't worry about the discoloration. I consider it seasoning.
How does having the sear plate affect the heat that it gives off to keep folks warm around the fire. I can’t decide between sear plate or not.
I say cook all over the sear plate to make the patina even.
