I live and work mostly amongst non-Muslims in the UK. Virtually to a person, every non-Muslim I know has a tattoo and that includes both men and women. Even those who are grounded and intellectually leaning will get one done to commemorate a particular event such as an anniversary or when a loved one passes. I don't see it dwindling like a fad; it has become a neo-tradition and is almost ubiquitous in practice..
If a person is an ignorant clown that has no knowledge in the science of hadith and how they are classed as daeef or sahih then, yes, they would make such a statement like yours.

@@iimiboy Quran is the word of Allah, so we say as "Allah says in the quran". No scholar says reading a hadees by as "Allah's says, everybody says it's prophet says, that's how it should be. Quran is authorized directly by Prophet pbuh. But hadees are derived by normal people 300 years after the passing of our beloved prophet. There are lot of weak hadeeses also, so no one says anything from a hadees as Allah says which are not 100 true, which are dervied by normal men. Prophet pbuh is not God. So when prophet says something muslims say as prophet said, when Allah says something in the quran muslims says Allah says.

Tattoo is haram whether it is haram words or halal words or pictures..
Quran verses tattooed is worse. Imagine going to toilet with those on your abdomen or arms. It's blasphemy.
