    Hi PK, Got the Cub S for X-mas and today my Spektrum DX6 came in! (What a great Tx! feels great in my hands! Not cheap like many others I've owned). Anyway, I'm somewhat new to the hobby and your instructions were fantastic! I Only had to pause the video a couple times and had everything programmed , assigned and bound (binded?) within 4-5 minutes! Planning to fly the cub in our local gym this weekend so thank you for the very easy instructions! Well done! - Mark D. -

    Don't forget to set the throttle cut on your H switch on the bottom right front of your transmitter. It keeps you from getting your fingers cut, if you hit the throttle or almost run it off your table, (or into something) like your video. Lol
    Been there, dune that. The bigger the motor, the greater your chance of acquiring stitches. Liked the video.

    I used your video to st mine up, and sadly it never rebooted again after that. Someone knew the E - Bay transmitter I got was defective( I found loose screws inside the radio) I ended up eating the $118 I paid for that radio. Its now a parts radio. I ordered a brand new Dx6 gen3 and will use your video on re programming it. I was going to register my transmitter when I found out it was DOA on my E - Bay " WIN". No more used transmitters for me. I was not happy concerning that situation, but thats life.

    Should you set up all your peramiters first before binding or does it matter? I was told any time you change something in your transmitter, you should automatically rebind the aircraft. That way everything is programmed as needed.

    • @ProjectKing
      @ProjectKing  6 років тому

      I would bind aircraft then set-up parameters. All changes to parameters are done inside radio. You want to be connected to plane when you make changes so that you can monitor affect of changes to servo travel, etc etc. Of course you do this on ground with prop off! Lol. Great question

    Great video thanks! Saved me a lot of sweat I hope, as haven’t tried it yet. Just a question, you say the manual says “reverse auxiliary 1”. Is that the plane’s manual or radio manual as I haven’t found that instruction yet? Mine is a Sport Cub S2 model and a DX8e. Cheers A

  • @lw216316
    @lw216316 6 років тому

    what is the purpose to reverse AUX1? What does that do?

    • @ProjectKing
      @ProjectKing  6 років тому

      Without studying I think it’s to make the switch position match the manual.

    • @lw216316
      @lw216316 6 років тому

      I figured it out. Imagine a light switch on the wall. Down - light off,, up- light on. If I reverse the switch - then down = light on and up = light off.
      So it lets you control how you want the switch to work.
      For example - if you want to use the button to be a panic switch - then
      normally you would want to push / hold the button to begin panic recovery
      (go to beginner mode) and release the button to return to previous mode (for example - intermediate or beginner).
      If you did not reverse the aux1 then it would default to being in panic mode (beginner mode) at start up and would stay in that mode and not let you switch to intermediate or advanced mode.
      So if you want to use the bind button as your panic switch then you probably want to reverse the function of aux1 - otherwise you would have to keep holding down the button in order to fly in intermediate or advanced mode.
      I would prefer to have my panic option on a 2 way switch in a position on the transmitter similar to the ready to fly transmitter that came with my RTF plane I bought. I have gotten used to it that way. I can use it quickly without having to fumble or look for it when I need it. I only have 1-2 seconds to recover before I crash.
      I have set up my new DX6E to use switch F for the panic switch -
      and to have it be in panic recovery when I push it in the same direction that the beginner mode is on my 3 way switch (position 0). That way they are consistent - to avoid confusion. I use switch B for my 3 mode switch (beginner =0, inter=1, adv=2). B is close to the throttle and I can get to it quickly without looking.
      It appears to me that going to panic mode is exactly the same as going to beginner mode - with one exception - if you switch to beginner mode it stays in beginner mode - but if you use the panic button - then it goes to beginner mode until you release the panic button and then returns to the mode you were in before you pressed the panic button - that would be either the beginner or intermediate mode.
      Personally - I prefer in a panic situation to get into beginner mode immediately and stay there until I'm ready to resume intermediate or advanced. I've had a panic situation where I was in advanced mode - got into trouble and hit the panic button and recovered and released and that puts it immediately back into advanced mode and I immediately got into trouble again (but at lower altitude because of the first problem) and then it was too low to get recovered a 2nd time. Yes, you can fly higher to try and leave room for 2 failures to recover.
      After a panic - I'm ready to get into safe mode then land right away and recover my nerves before flying again.
      I have not tested my F switch panic design yet ( it is zero degrees now and not forecast to be above freezing for about a week). Bench testing looks good - I get the correct color and flashing results on the receiver. So I'm expecting flight testing to work.
