Got my Grandson one of these - he was maybe 10 yrs old at that time. First flight, he flew it way too high and it went out of sight. We kept hitting the panic button and hoped for the best. After searching for about 1 hr, I found it sitting upright in the corner of a farmer's field about a half mile away. Not a scratch on it. This is a perfect beginner's plane.
That is awesome that you are branching out into flight! I dabbled in it about 15 years ago with limited success, but last year I decided to dive back in head first. I watched a ton of Flite Test videos and learned as much as I could. I bought a Taranis radio and used it with some sims. I built the FT Tiny Trainer and was able to get the hang of basic 4-channel flight. The real breakthrough happened after I joined a local flying club where I could share the sky with folks that have been in the hobby for decades. I can't recommend clubs enough. Anyways, congrats on your successful maiden and I look forward to following along in your journey!

It's one thing when the aircraft is flying calmly but when the wind or something causes it to do things you don't expect and you can react and keep it from crashing that's another thing. Electric flight and all the tech really helps even if you have RC flight experience. The old days of buy, build and crash was expensive and disappointing. This is soooooo much cheaper and the planes come home in one piece! It's fun to watch you as you learn different skills. Thanks for inspiration! C Gul
If you are new to rc planes, keep in mind the small planes are harder to fly than a bigger one. I had a Mini J3 piper cub like the one in this video 24" wingspan, that thing was a real handful even in minor wind, the smaller and lighter your plane, the more wild it will control. Flying is harder than you think, start with a simulator to save yourself alot of money and don't get discouraged if you crash
R/C planes have come a long ways since I first got into it many years ago. I use to tell beginners, try to start with a larger plane (easier to see) & not to fly when windy. But now, many small planes have the new radio stabilizing system. Easier to fly in wind. Nice Video.

A few days ago I watched a Horizon Hobbies video advertising the eFlite F-18 hornet, and now I have to have it. It isn't a want, it's a must, BUT I have to learn how to fly a plane first. The one in your video I may have to get to learn. When I get an understanding and feel comfortable with it, then I'll get that F-18. I'll probably get a higher tier radio than the DX6 because if I buy one plane, I'll have 4 when I'm done....at least. Lol. When I got my first surface RC, I said to myself "this is all I need" now 8 trucks, and 1 boat in, I know what to expect. There is 3 left that I want and that's not including the F-18.
What a fun video!! I was like cmon girl do a loop You can do it!! Very exciting video....So nice to see a beginner be honest and want to show others the learning cycle, YOU ARE AWESOME!! Thanks!!
I must say you are lucky to have this type of space open for this type of random go to an area flying. I have 20 planes and I dont fly as much anymore because of the planning, the packing and the going 40 minutes one way to fly. Its why I have moved mostly to freestyle quadcopter FPV flying.. Great vid and cheers.
Nice flying. I have moved on to hot rod quarter size planes since i started flying 30 years ago. Some of my planes cost what a cheap car costs. But still get so much joy out of my little front yard fliers just like that little model your flying. If it flies i love it. Nice flight You did very good girl. Keep it up
Very nice video. I really enjoyed seeing the 2nd landing, and how happy she was the plane was still intact . I think of my first efforts to fly Cox .049 powered 2 channel planes way back when. I got good exercise going hiking to look for what remained of the plane. It is nice to see people taking an interest in the magic of flight.
Hi, I flew mine outside for the first time today. Ground handling isn't very easy, but doable with low RPM spurts. Flying it turns left very predictable, but right turns are about half/three quarters as good. I stayed at less than full throttle most of the time to save on battery time, but also I was flying in a parking lot that is maybe 20m wide by 80m long and fenced. I think the airplane might be more fun as I fly it more. I don't have a camera person to take videos.
You take me back about 5 years, my first plane was either the champ or the cub, since, i now have a 3 rd champ and same cub. Now you will be looking forward to flying larger aircraft. After my cub I moved up to a 36 inch low wing civilian. Which was almost identical to my new 50 inch cherokee from h h. It flies as easy just need more space. Continue to fly, new subsbr
After one bad experience with a tethered airplane as a child, and after one bad experience with a difficult helicopter as an adult, I have stayed away from the air in my RC hobbies. I have lots of ground RC experience and some sailing RC experience. But I've been afraid of the air as very unforgiving. Your video has given me the courage to try again. Thanks!
You gotta try a v911 heli on Amazon like $40. Buy extra batteries, 5 for $8. You'll thank me later. After a week I was zipping through the house chasing the cat. And it takes a beating! Greatest true to life rc trainer ever!!! It really helped with stick training. I have now moved on to planes. Good luck amigo!
Thinking about dipping my toes into RC planes, watching my first flight video, and loving it! From here it looks like a small directional breeze could be helpful, it really slows the plane going against the wind, which should make landing a bit easier. (I think) Looks to be an entertaining hobby, and much easier to learn on compared to the nitro RC planes my father flew when I was a child over 30 years ago. Thanks!
Thanks. I just bought this plane and you gave good video on flying it. I do have the eflight Apprentice 15e. And I can fly it great. Just can't land it. So hopefully this plane will give me the confidence and skills to land my Apprentice.
Should be everyone's first plane for sure. I have 50+ planes and I keep my beat up cub s hanging on the wall as a reminder of where I began. Great stuff girl.
This is great instruction for beginners. The video is very understandable and helpful. This is the 4th and best video I’ve watched on this model. No one however has even mentioned the trim functions. The trim buttons must be there for a reason.
It looks like it takes off really well. The flight seems to be very smooth. I've been looking at this one for my son I thank it would be a great plan for him. great review
I love the way you explain things. I have been in the hobby for a while, but it does make a difference when you break things down for a person who is trying to learn.
I've been in the hobby for years. Recently the ama and faa have made it nearly impossible for us to fly at the local club. I said screw the faa and ama & got myself a sport cub. Did the maiden yesterday. What a fun little airplane. Now I fly at my local park in a big empty parking lot
Love the introduction and video. It is nice to see a 'real' person not a pro test an RC model. I can relate to what you are discovering. We done. Looking forward to more.
I like the planes that have anti crash tecnology it helps people who are 1st timers and slows jerky motions that would cause a plane to crash up to fast down to fast great way to learn keep up the airplane videos as you go more advanced
You go girl, thank you for this video because I'm contemplating going into the air been on the surface for about 6 years now, I know everything about the surface now it's time to learn everything about the air and then I might go to water
Enjoy seeing your excitement when you landed the plane for a beginner that's what it's all about, when you gain more experience and start doing loops and rolls the excitement gets even more intense. Good luck with the new channel hope to see more videos.
You should always have. Insurance. It maybe a small plane but if you have a malfunction even that could come down quite fast into a car or person then you'll be in trouble. It's not expensive but you've got piece of mind. I started with a rising star. I now fly a. 3. Met WS . Cub. Best. SIM is. The Phoenix. Excellent video. Thanks. For sharing.
Just ordered a DX6 trnsmitter/receiver w/ an E-flite 800mm F4U Corsair for my first RC plane experience. Have built many balsa models as a kid, but never an RC plane, they were just display models. Very much looking forward to getting in the air and learning areobatics, as that was my favorite thing to do when I was a certified pilot flying an Extra 300 - absolutely the most fun you can have in a plane. Want to get a glider, as well, becuase I love soaring. Must say you are adorably cute w/ a million dollar smile.
Some years ago I was at a RC show and I bought this small plane similars with that one is the first time I took it out was in a schoolyard there wasn't much wind and I took a nose dive and jacked up the propeller and I never fly again thank you for the video anyways
I just ordered this form Horizon Hobbies, thanks for the video, I tried to fly my new Scale Cessna 182 but im just not ready for that, this plane will help get my skills more fine tuned. Great demonstration !
The sports cub s was my first plane it tough me how to fly. It. Also started a rc addiction. I bought 12 planes I one year , I can’t get enough. Great video and happy flying!
Can anyone tell me do you have to have a receiver that is DSMX or DSMX or does the receiver need to be capable of both? Will a DXe DMSX transmitter work? Good video. Glad you had a little wind to show how sensitive this unit is due to the low weight and small motor. Thanks for the training.
Rc Girl, well done.....flyin like someone who has for years, the next step you might consider is ,building your own from scratch, dollar tree foam board ,some balsa and some tape ,i been building from scratch for about 6 years now , and there is feeling like building your own, and watching it fly, trust me....give it a shot.....great video.,
Really enjoyed the vid. You do a great explaining what you have going on. So cool seeing you smile after your flights. Looks like you're having fun. Great job
Now, that is just too kool. I'm a total novice to this rc plane stuff, but it seems like a lot of fun. Thanks to you and your video, I'm going to get the same plane. I have a DX8 controller and will bind it to that. I have a "little" experience flying drones (DJI Spark and, my favorite, a Parrot ANAFI). Thanks, again for a great video and your presentation is so nice.
This video inspired this dude to fly modern rc airplanes. After seeing you flying and learning on this bird, I went out and purchased on. When you get good, Id love to see you take on a balsa wood and monokote plane. These birds require full attention, and they fly great, did somebody say nitro? Keep up the great videos, you did great, keep on flying your rc birds, you have new fans out there..
I started out with a cheap Walmart RC that flew very well it was a 2ch stealth B2 bomber it was cheap and a great plane to learn on Now they have stuff like the one in your video looks like a great plane might have to go out and get one its great to see more people doing videos and getting into RC hobbies great vid looking forward to more
I know this vid is five years old now ,But I have been out of the RC planes for about 11 years. I'm retired now and want to get back into it the hobby. I see that you was using a Gen 3 DX6 I have the first Gen DX6 and was wondering if this plane would bind to it
You mentioned setting the transmitter to mode 1. Most people fly in Mode 2. It is ultimately personal preference. Been a while since I flew RC planes, but I was wondering if you looked into that. Used to love park flying...would like to get back into that. GLHF Oh, and a big shout out and thank you to Horizon Hobby for getting her all of this equipment to demo for us!
I think my transmitter went all wonky in this vid and not sure why it announced flight mode 1 haha! After the vid, I had to delete and re-add this model since it got corrupted for some reason. I do fly in flight mode II (as most in the US do I'm learning).
That's a flight mode switch which switches from different safe modes, the radio is a mode 2. Flight mode has nothing to do with the gimbal configuration.
If you like adrenaline rush, you will love to fly😀it is an adventure from pasture field s to AMA fields , I love the carbon s 1.3 for easy flying lessons.
Hi? My name is David from Gainesville FL. I'm new to the RC planes hobby! Really appreciate and enjoyed watching your videos on UA-cam. Thanks so much in helping me choose a new hobby zone training plane. Best regards from the sunshine state.😎🙌🎮
Please mention that there is a difference between Basic RFT and completely ready to fly (according to Hobby Zone). My Hobby Zone RTF plane came without the battery and as a result does not have to comply with the FAA ruling for only manufacturing remote ID ready planes since the end of 2022. Additionally, Hobby Zone has currently no plans to supply remote ID solutions. Of course, they did not mention this when I bought the plane and it would be nice to know this kind of stuff. It is a beginner plane afterall.
Great video. I have a basic 3 channel park flyer trainer now. After I gain skills with it I plan to move up a step. After watching your video I think this is the one for me.
Model aviation is a lifetime of learning. There are forums such as R/C Universe and R/C Groups. They are free to join and have separate forums for different aspects, including beginners, of course. I highly recommend them. Find a club in your area. They can be very useful in helping you along the way. Don't be shy. Everyone was a beginner at some point. Enjoy! P.S. Bigger flies better! Let the sky be your playground.
Bound to encourage newbies to get out there and fly. Good riddance to the days when we had to glue/tape/rebend/replace all that foam and balsa before our first soft landing, especially in the wind. Though I would wager your ground experience helped you master the controls. Well done all around.
Cool to see girls flying r.c planes way cool. Thanks for sharing wish you all the best, if I can be of any help I've been into r.c cars, trucks , airplanes for about 35 yrs. That plane you have is an excellent choice for new pilots. God bless
Great video, very well spoken..👍 I crashed my rare bear on second flight 3 years ago and now I need to actually learn how to fly with something easier, this looks perfect. 😉 Thanks
Very cool video on learning planes! I've been wanting to learn them myself but they seem extremely intimidating compared to ground vehicles. I might try one of these out. Thanks for sharing! You're awesome!
okay, good excuse for making us wait sooo long to see what you have been up to. Not the only one I see that was starting to be a little down for missing you. Have to admit I was a little excited to see a notification that you had posted a video. Flight is something that I hopefully will work my way to, simulators I have been told is strongly encouraged for beginners as well as experienced, sharp reduction in lawn dart landings and takeoff crashes. Thanks for making a great morning start.

Hi my name is Vincent and I live in the United States 🇺🇸. I absolutely love ur videos. Very informative. U have a lot of knowledge on flying and how to find content. So I’m praying u can help me. I recently purchased a JCZK 300C helicopter and I have been dying to get it in the air. Unfortunately, the entire operating manual is all in Chinese. I tried to follow all the start up procedures that I have seen on UTube but every time I get it to throttle up it shuts down and starts beeping. Do u know where I can find an English Operating Manual??? Or at least explain to me what on earth am I doing wrong? The last thing I want to do is crash it on its very first maiden flight. Can u also tell me if this helicopter needs to be calibrated and how do I go about it. Please help???? Thanks.
You mentioned "Skypark." Is this the closed former airport in Santa Cruz, Ca. by chance? I was a flight instructor at 2 GENES aviation in San Martin, Ca. The owner of the FBO lived there and I occasionally shuttled him back and forth. We were a Piper dealership. We referred to the airport as: "Scarepark" do to the short runway and obstacles at both ends of the single runway. (propane tanks at one end and powerlines at the other.) It was wild at first flying in and out of there...you'd decend down and along a hill and then make a sharp turn onto short final...sometimes see people from their homes waving to you. The silent partner was considering the purchase of the Piper Aerostar...a very high performance twin recip...but the short runway and obstacles was finally the death knell to that idea. I was bummed because I eventually would have gotten to at least fly it right seat. *sigh* Look up the Aerostar if interest permits. Still a very beautiful aircraft even by modern day standards. Ted Smith first designed and marketed it. I believe it was the fastest piston driven engined twin in its class...probably still is. 1st time I viewed your channel. You're classy and clean language! Congratulations for being a huge cut above others. Hopefully you've had the opportunity to fly full scale! If not you will fall in love with it!!!
Yep it's the the closed airport. It's great for RC planes but cannot imagine full sized planes using it....maybe for a STOL plane! Thanks for sharing that bit of history
RC Girl you bet! I really miss Carmel and Monterey. Beautiful area! Ocean drive and all the quaint restraunts. Used to take students to practice instrument approaches on rnwy 10...out over the ocean. One time an approach controller seemed to forget about us until I asked if he had us on a vector for Honolulu...he snickered and then gave us a turn in heading to intercept the localizer and glideslope. Lol Hate to wind up as shark bait since we were way beyond gliding distance from shore. Enjoy your RC flying! I've never crashed a real one...too but many of your types!
If I recall Skypark was only.like 2,300' perhaps...might be wrong. Landing a twin you had to be right on the numbers and on speed. Was a nice challenge.

No, he (and I) just means to have a routine ingrained in muscle memory that one can fall back on when something goes wrong! :)

Nice flying. I have moved on to hot rod quarter size planes since i started flying 30 years ago. Some of my planes cost what a cheap car costs. But still get so much joy out of my little front yard fliers just like that little model your flying. If it flies i love it. Nice flight
You did very good girl. Keep it up
Very nice video.
Your videos have really helped me, I was skeptical at first how a game could help, but it really does!
I just started, love it, live it

Looks like I am gonna get one and fly with my 13 year-old daughter, she's gonna be really excited! Thanks for the video and bravo for your channel.
She will !
Thanks!
That's nice to hear! Hopefully you can replace those few bad experiences with many great ones 😉
Ahh the ole tethered airplaine, mine was small in a bedroom, when it started warp speed we got scared af
yes, give it a go.we all crash. it happens.

Awesome - good luck! I know you can land it!!
14:00 = pure joy. landing in one piece and in front of your feet is so much fun!
It looks like it takes off really well. The flight seems to be very smooth. I've been looking at this one for my son I thank it would be a great plan for him. great review
I love the way you explain things. I have been in the hobby for a while, but it does make a difference when you break things down for a person who is trying to learn.
I love watching your videos and your vibe is super cool and enchanting😊
I've been in the hobby for years. Recently the ama and faa have made it nearly impossible for us to fly at the local club. I said screw the faa and ama & got myself a sport cub. Did the maiden yesterday. What a fun little airplane. Now I fly at my local park in a big empty parking lot
Amazing video. The UAP from 16:06 is a great capture.
In other videos of this plane they get the readymade transmitter.plz tell me i want to buy it....
Great windy video, very informative with great flight advice....thank you for sharing ✈️✈️
Rudyard F I just got my AMA membership!
That smile on your face every time you landed tells the whole story 😁
Kenny Wohltman that story sounds awfully familiar 😂
Can anyone tell me do you have to have a receiver that is DSMX or DSMX or does the receiver need to be capable of both? Will a DXe DMSX transmitter work? Good video. Glad you had a little wind to show how sensitive this unit is due to the low weight and small motor. Thanks for the training.
Rc Girl, well done.....flyin like someone who has for years, the next step you might consider is ,building your own from scratch, dollar tree foam board ,some balsa and some tape ,i been building from scratch for about 6 years now , and there is feeling like building your own, and watching it fly, trust me....give it a shot.....great video.,
Sorry, but i didn't see her building a plane from scratch.
Great video! It’s great to see women excited about RC! Love it ! 😃
Thanks, have fun!! I'm 6 months in now and already 5 or 6 planes in 😆
This video inspired this dude to fly modern rc airplanes.
I just got one for my birthday and wanted to learn how to use one great video too
I started out with a cheap Walmart RC that flew very well it was a 2ch stealth B2 bomber it was cheap and a great plane to learn on Now they have stuff like the one in your video looks like a great plane might have to go out and get one its great to see more people doing videos and getting into RC hobbies great vid looking forward to more
Your good at this stuff, thanks i am about to take my plane out soon for the first time. This was real helpful.
Great tutorial video good flying and the good plane start off with thank you for sharing 👍😁👍
I know this vid is five years old now ,But I have been out of the RC planes for about 11 years. I'm retired now and want to get back into it the hobby. I see that you was using a Gen 3 DX6 I have the first Gen DX6 and was wondering if this plane would bind to it
love the candid quality of this video
You mentioned setting the transmitter to mode 1. Most people fly in Mode 2. It is ultimately personal preference. Been a while since I flew RC planes, but I was wondering if you looked into that.
Used to love park flying...would like to get back into that. GLHF
Oh, and a big shout out and thank you to Horizon Hobby for getting her all of this equipment to demo for us!
I think my transmitter went all wonky in this vid and not sure why it announced flight mode 1 haha! After the vid, I had to delete and re-add this model since it got corrupted for some reason. I do fly in flight mode II (as most in the US do I'm learning).
And yes! Huge thanks to Horizon! I'll be hanging out at their booth during the AMA Expo West in November. Great guys!
Welcome back!
Great first time flying vid.
All your stuff is very good for us rookies RC Girl.
Keep it up and thank you.
I love the quick spin after you're first two landings and the big smile.
I like your presentation and attitude!! Just subbed!!
Model aviation is a lifetime of learning. There are forums such as R/C Universe and
R/C Groups.
God bless
It is first time i am watching a girl doing unboxing of a rc plane. Nice video, cheers 😊.
Excellent break-down, as always! :)
Have the same plane trouble is it's still in the box over a year now, seeing your video gave me the courage get out there and fly it thanks...
Never really considered getting into r/c planes but after my son watched this video we might go try it out...thanks and keep these videos coming
Yeah it's a whole new hobby for sure. But this is the plane to try for your first experience
Great job. Really enjoyed the video
lol i got this plane for my birthday, i looked up how to fly a rc plane, and this was the first result thanks for the little review
thank you i have just got a rc plane and you gave me hope it is going to live past its first flight :)
Great video, very well spoken..👍 I crashed my rare bear on second flight 3 years ago and now I need to actually learn how to fly with something easier, this looks perfect. 😉 Thanks
That was cool, good job demonstrating this plane. I’ve been thinking of getting one, I guess I will after watching this. 👏👏👏
just bought one - total newbie - should be fun
Great presentation!! Great flying!! You are very inspirational. Keep enjoying and sharing the Awesome world of flight!!!
Very cool video on learning planes! I've been wanting to learn them myself but they seem extremely intimidating compared to ground vehicles. I might try one of these out. Thanks for sharing! You're awesome!
So happy I found this. Great video -Thanks!
Thanks I was thinking of saving for this plane now I will great vid
Thanks. I've been interested in this for a long time.
okay, good excuse for making us wait sooo long to see what you have been up to.
Terra Quest RC hey brotha good to see u
Stevo been some busy building another rig.. too hot to get out and run anything for the last month, but maybe this weekend. Trying to keep up with all the video's, lol.. got so many subscriptions.
Good to see this hobby from a ladies point of view awesome
Hello RC Girl... I understand there is a timer on the DX6 TX.. Which time setting do you use for the 1S battery...??
Thanks..
Good job rc girl I'm a beginner in the rc planes have a lot to learn great video!!!
Thanks! It's a fun (and challenging) journey
*sigh*
Look up the Aerostar if interest permits.
Lol
Hate to wind up as shark bait since we were way beyond gliding distance from shore.
Enjoy your RC flying!
I've never crashed a real one...too but many of your types!
If I recall Skypark was only.like 2,300' perhaps...might be wrong. Landing a twin you had to be right on the numbers and on speed.
Was a nice challenge.
