Remember when we had independent stations?
And remember when they'd show cartoons *before and after* school?
Ahh Britannica! Back when you actually had to do research to learn anything.
Once I saw the thumbnail here, I knew it was the classic Honey Nut Cheerios Christmas Carol commercial that I remember vividly. Glad to see it again especially in December! :)
“I SAID-did you say honey and nuts?” - my brain the instant I saw the thumbnail
You had me at the Honey Nut Cheerios commercial
The harmony of the choir in that Cheerios commercial gives me a Christmas feeling that I can't get anywhere else. I also think this is the highest quality upload of that commercial I've seen. Thank you for that commercial alone.
yea, its pure uncut Christmas. i immediately remembered the commercial just from the thumbnail of scrooges face.
I remember the ad on Encyclopedia Britannica from back then, and I especially remember those old McDonalds commercials. The McNugget Buddies were cute characters. I also remember watching Gumby during the late ‘80s and early ‘90s when it ran in syndication.
As for that record offer seen in this collection, I have been wanting to get my mitts on those old LPs for at least three decades. I managed to find a copy of that collection of children’s songs from RCA on eBay last August. It’s great to finally be able to own it at last along with another similar album that was advertised two years before that. I remember the songs heard in the commercial for the All-Time Favorite Children’s Songs double LP. My goddaughter and her little brother are sure to enjoy them once I create a digital copy for them. Strange how neither of the albums from RCA from back then never came out on audio CD.
A couple of comments:
1. I remember those McDonald’s commercials with the Chicken McNugget Buddy characters. They bring back lots of memories.
2. Thank you for digging up a two-minute version of the “All-Time Favorite Children’s songs” commercial. I hope to find those old records on eBay one of these days. I have an interest in vintage children’s music from the retro years.
Also, I have always been a big Gumby fan. I remember watching that syndicated version of that show that aired during the ‘80s and ‘90s.
That All Time Children's Songs played numerous times a day when I was a kid. Especially during the after school cartoon blocks. The Whistle While Your Work and On Top Of Spaghetti clips were embedded into my brain lol.
That kid in the Encyclopedia Britannica commercial looks like he was falling down an old-school wiki hole; he was reading way beyond rocket fuel!
After that classic Honey Nut Cheerios spot, the next most memorable commercial for me was All-Time Favorite Children's Songs. _"On top of spagheeeeetti / All covered with cheeeeeese"_ Still seared into my brain after all these years.
I can't get enough of these!
If you ever think about starting a second channel, I'd also be really interested in watching full Saturday morning lineups! Commercials and cartoons included! I'd watch the whole new one every Saturday morning with my kids.
Keep up the great uploads! Thanks for the videos!
Loving all the Christmassy commercials! Thanks!
3:08 Spider-Man promo is my favorite!
I honestly would love to see the "Scrooge" actor from the Honey Nut Cheerios commercial play the role in a movie or play.
9:04 - "Learn the secret of the gold decoder"...Before an evil gorilla snatches you away, and you are never heard from again! Pretty dark, Golden Grahams...
That was the best honey nut Cheerios commercial ever.
I know I'd never listen to it if I owned it, but that All Time Classic Children's songs always made me really really want to purchase the cd.
You can probably find most of the songs on youtube if you search for them. Most of the songs appear to be lifted from older kids records. Here's the "Teddy Bear's Picnic" song, which I think would work well in a horror movie: ua-cam.com/video/06UThzW7nF4/v-deo.html
My favorite station in my neighborhood now known as WPSG CW Philly
13:42 -- Mark DeCarlo "playing" the banjo on Leave It to Beaver.
Philly here :)
I remember that HN Cheerios ad.
That old dude struggling to chew the cereal always bothered me as a kid.
You treasure
They need to bring back Croonchy Stars!
Amen! It was, along with Pops, my favorite cereal when I was a kid.
Lot of these commercials are from the 90's.... Not the 80's .....
These aired in 1988.
Prove to me that they didn't.
I'll be waiting.
