I have no idea why, but 80s commercials make me feel good. It's not necessarily because it's nostalgic, because it doesn't matter whether or not it's about something I recognize from my childhood.
Wow! Now this was the borderline year as the 70’s came to the end, and the 80’s began. I was 5 and in kindergarten (80/81) around this time, and I actually remember this broadcast. Those cereal commercials bring back memories too. This would be the year I would start to get familiar with television program schedules, and reading the TV Guide. I had the Merlin via hand me down from my cousin and had a blast with it! Electronic games sure were clunky back then. 😆
@@80sCommercialVault yeah, but i'm imagining like a human being doing that same thing and sending all their teeth to the hospital afterwards. hurts to think about.
all these games were just a little bit before my time (would've only been one year old) the only electronic game I really remember having (as far as the early pre-Tiger era games are concerned) was Super Cobra by Entex! I remember my dad worked at a record store and I'd sit there on my little game just playing away.... good times!
Kenneth Kimmins as the dad in Sugar Smacks spot? I don't think I remember the 2nd game, Split Second. I do recall a football game that was shaped nearly the same way. Had Bank Shot and Tudor handheld electronic football.
Stop Thief!-probably will be said many times tomorrow since it's Black Friday Crispy Wheats & Raisins-the fancified version of Raisin Bran Merlin-Simon's younger cousin NBC Saturday Morning-Bring back Mr Shmoo Bourbon Street Brawl-usually happens every Mardi Gras lol Frosted Rice-now known as Frosted Rice Krispies Frosted Flakes-the formula is whats sprinkled on top of the cereal

10:26 ..."with lovable Shmoo, Captain Bxvqg"... however you spell these last syllables. A rather different way to end a Thanksgiving Day, I'd say.
He was saying "Captain Caveman"...which was one of the segments on the "Flintstones Comedy Show"
We had a Merlin growing up. wow haven't thought about it in years.
Was that Catherine Hicks (from Child’s Play and 7th Heaven) in the Split Second commercial?
Nope.
5:54 - I don't recognize the elephant. What cereal is he associated with?
Cocoa Krispies
10:01 did... did he just... eat a whole walnut? *shell and **_ALL???_*
Bears are omnivores. They eat walnuts like that in real life.

I was only a year old in 1980 too!
We somehow had Stop Thief's electronic thing without the game. We called it the car alarm game.
The Flintstones Comedy Show...I guess that's a better title than "The Flintstones Hour of Tragedy and Mourning".
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!!!
Back when you could have sugar in your cereal names.:) Interesting they put Hong Kong Phooey with Godzilla as a combo.
3:11 “Beat it up!” 🤣
We had a Merlin when we were growing up. Sadly I don't know where it went.
Crispy Wheats n Raisins
So...Raisin Bran essentially
wow....I forgot all about Bigpaw
