Thank you for this stretch Dr Mandell. I have been in pain, unable to walk without a walker, wincing with each step I took. I've hadcan epidural type shot in February that got me off thr walker, but still suffering with sciatica, metalgia parestetica (sp?), tight IT band, and this steady increased pain also led to depression. With just two sessions of your 1 simple move video, you have changed my capabilities and my depression. I am walking today, my third day, with NO pain! I am no longer crying from pain, but am filled with joy! I can now get down into a semi squat in the hot tub without pain and I trust I'll be capable of doing it out of water very soon. I'm doing 30 squats daily and I'll soon start some lunges and other leg strengthening exercises. I'm only 68, retired a year and avhalf ago after caring for my mother who past just before my retirement. I had no idea I was losing muscle all that time. It was shocking to learn how debilitating it was in such a short time. I only regret not understanding the dangers to seniors to neglect their bodies. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for heading me towards recovery, and believe me, this kiddo has been trying to learn and move, but your brief, yet oh so sweet video is pure magic. Not only has it helped me, but my 36 year old son, who also dedicated himself to my mom, his grandmother, found himself with meralgia parestetica (upper thigh nerve entrapment pain) and is healing fast, like myself. So thank you for my son's recovery as well. ❤
As a personal trainer, I constantly am meeting people experiencing issues in the SI area, sciatica, or just general hip discomfort. No doubt about it I will incorporating a few of these movements with my clients I can’t wait to see the light bulb turn on on their faces as they finally experience some relief💡 and so I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your knowledge with us Doc. Really helping more people than you realize.
That’s awesome that you are thinking of your clients, but this movement can make things so much worse for people who have SI joint laxity-usually seen in women, focus on stability! Check out the DPT Whelton protocol, it works!!!
OMG, I tried these exercises and was extremely disappointed because I didn't get any pops and actually felt worse immediately after. I found this video right before I went to bed and thought, what the heck, I will give it a try. Like I said, I was disappointed and thought nothing was going to relieve my pain. I have tried so many different strength training exercises for SI joint pain as well as stretches. I went to bed and woke up the next morning pain free. I stayed that way all day and no pain during activities. I am hoping it is not just a fluke so I am saving this video to do again when it flairs up.
You probably got movement but the the joint was out of alignment so long everything tightened up in that position. Then when the si moves back to normal that tissue stretches back to where it needs to be and it hurts
Doctor Mandell has helped my health a lot. Thank You. This holistic approach is wonder-making. There are no Nobel Prizes for Humanity on UA-cam- but, Dr. Mandell should receive one.❤
I am hyper flexible. I had to do the floor one twice to get a couple small pops. My left hip has been stuck for a while, so I'm gonna keep doing this. The more you stretch it, the better it gets. The stretching feels great for my sciatica. I got some small pops on my right side with the cross legged one. It works. Gonna keep doing this. Thank you Dr Mandel! I've been trying to release the left side for over 5 months now. Small pops are better than none. The stretching I've been doing has not helped much. Your stretches are much better. 😊
Have you tried tried an SI belt? Best investment ever. A physical therapists on UA-cam says that the SI joint is not supposed to move very much. Too much stretching and popping will actually cause instability and more pain.
To everyone reading this, I sincerely pray for whatever is causing you pain or stress will pass. May your negative thoughts, excessive worries and doubts disappear, replaced by clarity and understanding. May your life be filled with peace, tranquility and love🇧🇸🇧🇸💙
Thanks, doc! I've been in practice for 47 years and have never seen either of these stretches ! I'll be sharing this with a few of my sciatic patients on Monday.
ive been using these moves by listening to my body and pain for 3 years no sports doc or physio made sense of my approach was exactly what i needed for pubic symphosis pelvic floor purdendal nuralgia and sacrolitis pain and hip bursitis please tell everyone as no sport professional has abosrbed me telling them this work for me daily. the popping with pillows and fist and the the first stretch i was doing standing on my one leg past 3 years not on knee and couch. thanks for making a video and sharing it to the world as a qualified practitioner i can reference you now to my sports doctors and physios and specialists
I didn't even wait till the end of the video to try this. I have two bulging discs, stenosis, and osteoarthritis. I did not get the pop, likely because I'm so stiff, but it did open it up and I feel a ton better! Thank you Dr. Mandell yet again!
3:55 The best way I’ve found to get a release is to lay down flat in bed (legs flat) cross your legs at the ankles and push your ankles together while trying to pull your your knees part. Only use legs for this no hands. Great for middle of night discomfort as you are already in position for quick adjustment
Dr. Alan Mandell, thanks for your great technique on killing the lower back pain, which is quite effective! After applying each skill, my right lower back pain dissipates, and I feel confortable now. Thanks a lot and a lot!
@motivationaldoc, thank you-you are a legend! I think you can read my mind. There's no way UA-cam suggested exactly the thing that's been bothering me for the last two years, and I've never even Googled it

Love your stretches for hips and lower back area. I am constantly in agony as i am a truck driver working in the coal mines in Australia and because of my bad posture over the years i sm suffering now. But wow these are amazing to open up the joints and give some relief. Keep up the good work Dr
It’s crazy how well this worked! Usually I have to just ride out the spasm for a couple days, but I did this and the muscle gave. I was able to walk up straight immediately. Thank you!

Ty so much!! I feel so much better it popped too! My lower back nerves had been tingling today and I just randomly came across this!! I appreciate you!!😊
Thanks Doc your the best ! You've Helped me big time w/ my very painful frozen shoulder and other pains . So I sent this hip and back pain cure to my daughter who suffers from this exact ailment from time to time. Thanks Again !
I’m struggling with piriformis pain, pushing on my sciatic nerve. Possibly the left side of my body is so sore and the aching and pain from this. Has taken me nearly three months. just to be able to walk anywhere. Going to try this and motivate myself to do the other exercises I have been given. I usually just go on a static peddle bike which also helps. I was meant to see this video thank you Doctor Mandell.
You are a Godsend DR Mandel😂. I'm 5'2 so I had a little problem with my couch being a little too soft or too high --- but I'll continue to make improvements on these as it's like having a sports therapist here in my apartment 🎉. Thank you from California ✌🏼
Thank you I was in so much pain just doing your stretches the first night the next morning pain was almost gone. AMAZING I will continue to do the stretches thank you again
I wish i knew this years ago when i had a stuck SI joint. It caused me so much agony for 4 months. It got bad enough to where my neck started to compensate and twist. I felt like i had a constant stiff neck that would never release or get better. I finally got so fed up and wanted to workout, so I did squats with a decent amount of weight on my shoulders, and my si released. I heard a loud pop and I braced for pain, but got nothing but instant releif. Within 12 hours my constant stiff neck released and i felt another ajustment in my neck. It felt like it aligned up how it used to be. Ileverything was sore for about three days but ive had zero pain and zingers since. Knowing this could have eliminated this the day i messed my SI joint up. Great info and i will be periodically doing these
Thank you for this. I have been immobilized for some time now and every time I go to the doctors, they just want to have me stretch my hamstrings. My left knee is now injured from some of these exercises and I've always felt like the pain was more in my sciatica. I am hopeful that these gentler exercises will help as it's just where I feel like the pan is.
I still can't cross my legs because of the fluid on my body. But I'm trying the massages like you said. They do help. Walking does too but it's been so hot I haven't done much of that. My brother has a stationary bike. I've started riding it as well, in the evenings when it's cooler. Thank you again for showing ways to help with functionality of older bones.❤❤❤❤
I only did the 1st exercise hoping to finally my SI joint. I have given birth to 4 children and have been unable to pop it in over 10 years. At first, it did not work at all and I got discouraged. Then I tried doing the "spinal twist" yoga pose on both sides and immediately got pops!!! Thank you so much Dr. M! ❤
Wowza, this is exactly what I need. My lower back has been real stiff, since falling 2x’s @ least once on my tailbone + other falls previous. My knees are back into alignment & my ankles are weak. Your always, here when I need help: Thx Dr. Mandell.
Well I did the whole thing didn't get any pops or feeling of anything releasing but definitely felt the tension and once I was done it does feel better so obviously if it doesn't pop that means there's a lot of either inflammation or that's why there's pain must continue this it definitely helped thank you doc
Thank you so much, doc! This is my point of soreness and so nice to have a way to resolve it. Absolute godsend. Thank you and Namaste! This is pure gold. Love those cushions by the way, such a nice splash of color.

I just entered the lower back pain community and about to visit Ortho, but these stretch has done wonders. I'll try this first thing in the morning when I feel the most tightness in my lower back. I don't know of the cause ia my weight, my new (newer) mattress i have so much back pain with my mattress. I stuff pillows under my abdomen when I lay on my stomach, that helps but when I go on my back, I can't find the right pressure point whether in or ext flexing to move the disc off the spine. Night time is the worst time for me now.😊
I will have to approach this delicately, but in so much pain after two surger recoveries...active to sedentary. Hope this helps😢. I'm tiny, 17 yrs of ballet, flexibility lasted till 62, first injury, now 71...so painful, don't like pills. I thank you for your contributions!
Yo...this actually felt great. I have a minor lower left back injury and one of my legs are slightly shorter/longer than the other. Man this felt wonderful 👍
I'm going to try this but i have si joint dysfunction and sciatica nerve compression that is chronic, Thanks to Dr Mandell watch his neck vlog to help pain and stiffness in the neck its a really good workout, used with physiotherapy band to work more into the core of the neck also.
Please send a.link. he has many videos and I've.posted a comment above asking for help for beck pain and shoulder and whether it's linked and so inflamed from me.pressing and stretching and living on aspirin, codeine and muscle relaxants that just do not work. Kind thanks❤
44 yrs of burning, numb, front right quadrant of legs, acute back pain, difficulty standing & walking and I’m almost giving in. I’ll try this but I fear I am beyond unblocking. Thanks. ❤
Needed this got dehydrated bad Ut I then severe cramps and shakes and pain SI joint right side down into top knee into shin a right inter quadriceps and then cramping into feet then painful to walk for a bit Some neuropathy feet hands, also praying for healing of all this plus Insufficient fracture left sacrum not healed yet causing pain into right. Now pain more into slight right of spine after these exercises Now can handle some exercise and doing magnesium along with B 12 Red man’s sea salt some with liquid iv stevia sweetened so so hope to recover soon plus some hypo glycemia. Sick of all this. Thankful for your tips Dr Mandel
@@kcloveonaleash spoke to health food store owner he told me to use less water so not peeing out all electrolytes I am taking. I said have 32 oz water container but happy to know what he said plus must take digestants plus stools wrong color. Enzymes for milk and fat and sometimes think food goes thru to quick so lab in TJ let me know yrs ago food goes thru sometimes to quick and was getting darker ones for few days. So guess need more digestall and possibly the hydro chloric acid for a bit. All disconcerting right now. Thank you for telling me how your hydration really helped you! 💕
Excellent! Many thanks from a subscriber who has suffered for 40+ years with severe back pain. Any advice in the use of a SI belt? I use it when walking. You are a true gift to all who know you and your videos.
I have what is called "chemo hip". It can get very painful, and to top it all off, I'm a side sleeper, so it wakes me up at night. Doing these movements right now felt SO good! I will continue to try this and hope for some relief. 😊
Your voice is so soothing ... these are good stretches ... my hypermobility took the first stretch to very weird position to get the pop ! But it worked 👏👏👏 thank you 😊
Recently diagnosed with lumbar 4 issues and unfortunately am in the pain/inflammation early cycle which has also affected my knee. Hoping I can do this. Am going to try….thank you, doc! More on the spine care I would love to hear coming from you.
Some of these and other contorted positions to get into in an effort to get relief are easily demonstrated and performed by people who are not actually having serious issues and nerve pain. Some things I can do, but others I can’t even consider trying without experiencing serious nerve pain just trying to get into position.
Add deep squats (squatted resting position with heels near or on the floor) and bodyweight squats -standing. Helps stretch and strengthen Psoas, QL, glutes. And forward bend from semi wide stance and wide squats, stretch the body forward and down while keeping the lower spine straight which extends all the above.
Thank you Dr. Mandell, will try to do this exercise regularly everyday or every other day while making sure that i do this correctly every time. Love you! ❤🙏
Did both sides; didn't get a physical pop on the left but got one on the right...but my sacro-iliac (sp?) feels a ton better! Thank you, Dr. Mandel, and God bless!
Thank You Doc. Just followed your advice, starting with the warm up stretch where i felt multiple pops just doing that movement. Didn't feel that big release with the full moment but my muscles are extremely tight and locked up. I did however get great overall relief and stretch doing it. My obliques felt the stretch incredibly, letting me know how much work I need in flexibility and mobility due to countless life long injuries
I had a 2006 toyota that allowed me to put my leg under the driver seat and it would help me pop my hip joint.i no longer have that car and have been searching for a way to pop my hip joints.thanks doc
Dr. Mandell, 1st move very helpful, stretching down from the couch, however, I think attributing it to the SI joint is incorrect. I find this is a terrific stretch for the iliac muscle group, which causes a lot of grief for posterior hip pain/ SIJ pain sufferers. SO kudos on an excellent therapeutic, but I'd clarify to your viewers it's releasing the iliac not the sacroiliac joint.
tried these today, have had a pinch in left hip since Thanksgiving, I was on a run on a lopsided trail and felt the pinch. Today is Jan 4,2025 I pray these work:) no pop yet.

Wow! Immediate relief! That very first stretch was so easy and I felt a pop and release on the right side of my lower back. Thank you 🙏
I have been suffering from this pain for 6yrs or so but this year it's so intense. I will try this
44 yrs of burning, numb, front right quadrant of legs, acute back pain, difficulty standing & walking and I’m almost giving in.
Stay hydrated! Most important!!! I can't believe how my cramping disappeared after using electrolytes daily
Thanks again Coach. Good luck this weekend against Kent State
Your voice is so soothing ... these are good stretches ... my hypermobility took the first stretch to very weird position to get the pop !
May God bless you Dr. Mandell!
Some of these and other contorted positions to get into in an effort to get relief are easily demonstrated and performed by people who are not actually having serious issues and nerve pain. Some things I can do, but others I can’t even consider trying without experiencing serious nerve pain just trying to get into position.
That was an amazing demonstration. I'm telling everyone I know!
OMG on 3 days of muscle relaxers and first move of pushing against chair it reset.... Thanks wanna send you 😘
Wow what a difference this has made.
Love you! ❤🙏
OK picnic table. I’m on the way since I don’t have a couch.
Christ Bless, Doctor Mandel!
So helpful
And thank U for going straight to the content/exercises!
Did both sides; didn't get a physical pop on the left but got one on the right...but my sacro-iliac (sp?) feels a ton better! Thank you, Dr. Mandel, and God bless!
WOW!!! Sweet relief! Just what I needed! Many thanks, Doc!
Thanks Dr. Mandell. All your videos are interesting and deeply meaningful. I have benefited immensely following you...
Such good advice! I do a variation of these in the pool during water aerobic class after my hips & back start to loosen👍🏼
Wow, awesome thank you blessed man of God Dr.Mandell
🙏❤️🙏
Thank You Doc. Just followed your advice, starting with the warm up stretch where i felt multiple pops just doing that movement. Didn't feel that big release with the full moment but my muscles are extremely tight and locked up. I did however get great overall relief and stretch doing it. My obliques felt the stretch incredibly, letting me know how much work I need in flexibility and mobility due to countless life long injuries
Tell you what I did that exercise from the couch and I heard quite a pop, now the pain I've had for 20 years is gone!!! :) hopefully it will last!
I had a 2006 toyota that allowed me to put my leg under the driver seat and it would help me pop my hip joint.i no longer have that car and have been searching for a way to pop my hip joints.thanks doc
I don’t have a couch; but, I love your energy.
I dont have a sacroiliac but I have a couch
@@wanderdworld😂
I don’t have a couch either but I’m gonna use a chair
Yep, no couch…
Oh my word I am soo grateful Dear Dr I practice this and keep doing, I don’t have a sofa but I will manage some how on the chair thank you soo much 🙏🎉
My daily dose for body flex simplicity at home gym the couch 🛋 Has its advantages couch 🥔 😅U the bomb Dr Mandell Cheers ❤
Wow! These ones make magic…😮❤
This good man is a LEGEND!
Thank you.. I didn’t get it to pop but I will keep trying this.. 🙏🏼
This is the one I’ve been waiting for. Thank you
