This guys videos are so helpful. Not only coaching you on how to train the puppies but how to understand them better.

This is exactly what I'm doing with my puppy that is about the same age as yours. I got him on Wednesday. This breed is great for training and I love how easily they learn! Mine was more reserved in the beginning but still always keeps his tail up, then once he's settled in he's looking for things to chew and is starting to test me to see what he can and can't get away with. He'll start off chewing his toys and then try to sneak and chew his bed or my pillow, or a shoe. It doesn't take much correction to stop him though as he watches for my reaction. Usually just saying "Uh" and giving him a look gets him to stop.

Start slowly, reward him for just looking at you for the first few days. As his attention span increases, you can gradually increase the difficulty of your exercises. Also, pre training exercise really helps with some puppies.

New sub here. As a trainer of some 45 years this is so great to see. So many breeders don't even bother handling the pups let alone start the training as you do. I give you loads of respect for this. The last pup I bought had no handling at all and very high drive ,so was a biting monster for a while. Now at 16 months she is amazing but it has taken loads of work every day 5/6 times daily. Well done :) Look forward to watching many more of your videos. Lovely pups to. Thank you .

It fascinates me how different the personalities of the puppies can be! Love the fact that with patience, each pup responds to the training in their own way. I enjoy the way you modify the training to respond to the needs of the puppy's personality. I agree it's important to match the personality of the pup to the prospective owner.

God, SPOT ON!!! You are nailing the Essentials of Training, IE; The Patience Needed, The Tolerance Needed For EACH Personality, describing that each dog has a different temperament and the way an owner should choose a puppy which should be based on temperament NOT looks. A+!!! Thanks for making such a GREAT video about training. YOU'RE AWESOME!!!

Wow, great work. You have an excellent way with these dogs. I saw dog #3 get up on the table and instantly thought "uh oh, an unconfident dog...he won't learn as quickly"....within 30 seconds you had that nervous dog performing the basic steps. Amazing work - you really know what you're doing.

Simply put: The best video that my husband and I have seen in training puppies! Husband tried it immediately while we were watching the video with a completely different breed and it WORKED! All he did was have our puppy follow his hand, and she went into positions that we have worked on with her for months!

Stonnie, I've trained dogs on and off for 6 years. Mostly off, due to shoulder and back injuries I love to watch others who use the dog's energy and temperment to adjust to how to train the puppy or older dogs. I love shephards and malinois, so thank you for your highly instructive video.
Full disclosure: I do not know Stonnie at all, just found his terrific video after searching Malinois here.

You seem to very knowledgeable when it comes to these puppies. I am a new owner and my Mal "Chase" was more on the reserve side when I got him at 4 months old. He's almost a year now...I recently began watching your videos for training tips etc. I had some behavior trouble at first... Chase was very "Skittish " of others. I noticed in your video that most of the reserved puppies were males and the energetic puppies females? Is that common?

Exercise and lots of time with people and dogs. It might be a good idea for you to get some of your friends to help you with your training sessions so the dog learns to trust other people. I have found that it is usually pretty easy to get neighborhood children to help with puppy training, especially the ones that don't have dogs at home.

I have a purebred female shepherd who is very high drive, but was allowed to pull and act out for 6 years before I got her. Has taken me four months to help her regain her health (she was starved almost to death) and she finally she will look at me, face me, is focused on me and wants to sleep with me. Her anxiety level is still high though. But she chooses to have no self-regulation when it is time to go for a walk or to the dog park. Incredibly smart animal, just spent her entire life learning that she decides when she wants to obey. Any suggestions?

How is your puppy/dog doing now? I have what we think is a Malinois GS mixed. We got him at the humane society. We don’t know much about him except he came from Tennessee we are in Michigan and the place he came for was not a good place. He’s about the sweetest and extremely smart little guy. We have a 6 year old Golden retriever and he’s somewhat jealous of him
