Mcmillian is incredible! We watch his show lucky dog and can't believe what a selfless helping person he is. The book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfKlzfzw0sMZ_RgZNzMeOPu6d4b5i5XWl has his training methods from both the show and new tricks i had not heard until i got the book. Simple dog psychology and pointers to make the methods stick. Great insight to the thinking of dogs. There is so much more we know now about our dogs. Fear in training no longer apply. I cannot say enough about this book and it's author.
The fact that this dog loves to go into the collars and is wagging his tail during this training is living proof that this trainer is not abusing this dog with these training tools/devices. Did you see any misuse? Intelligent dogs love good training and strive to please with good training. This dog loves this stuff! I use a Martingale collar to keep my dog from pulling at the heel and/or bolting from the heel. My dog loves a good walk and some training and then finishing the walk. Then he likes to come home and play games like fetch and tug. Thanks for the video!
@Waya Wolf shooting sports I’ve found over the years that people who ‘dislike’ the Ecollar often form that opinion from an emotional standpoint. It’s never based on matter of fact evidence and they never have any real experience with the tool. I’ve personally converted hundreds of clients that were on the fence and they have all thanked me! 🙏🏼
I stumbled upon this by accident, but amazing to see how well trained your dog is. We had a malinois ' mechelse herder' when I was a kid. He was roaming around the stables behind our house. after a couple of days he decided to follow us and run into our garage door, on christmas eve. He was a young dog, estimated like 7 or 8 months at that time. I remember my father calling the police to report a lost animal and they promised they would pick him up the next day. He was super friendly and as we didn't have any dogfood in the house my sister and i fed him dry ' soldatenkoeken' which translates to soldier cookies. I'm so glad police never came to get him because he became part of the family and was always there for us. We later learned he was probably kicked out by a breeder who lived in the town next to ours because he was to kind for attack orders. However he never failed to guard the house, chasing of burglars twice and defended my sister once when she was harrased by some drunk bikers at a bar near our neighbourhood. I really loved that dog, it's been almost 20 years since he passed away and I still remember him vividly. A friend, a family member and the most loyal being you could imagine. Gypsy, you will always be in our hearts !
Oh man, I feel you... I used to have a "mechelse herder" as well in our friendly dutch town where I used to live :-) Fantastic animal, my best buddy and friend. We got the dog when I was 5-6 years old, the dog was around 2 years old at the time. I grew up with her, I have no siblings and she was my best friend until she was over 16 years old (I was 21/22 or something) and passed away. Active until her late senior years. I have been heart broken for such a long time and still miss that dog 15 years later. We could do anything with that dog. We did all sorts of training activities, my parents used to go to the forest with that dog 3 times a day (and I joined as often as possible too), she never needed a leash either and would simply listen on great distances. It was more to comfort other humans that sometimes we would put her on a leash. It was an absolute delight to grow up with such a special animal with so much character.
Loved this video! How would you handle a very strong, hyper, untrained adult Belgium Malinois who constantly pulls and tries to chase cars, birds, and squirrels, during walks???? He is very smart and sweet and will sit and stay, in the house, for short periods of time, for a treat. He loves people and other dogs, (except for one dog that initiated a fight with him and a few known petty thieves in the community, who he barks at, nonstop and tries to chase, when he sees them, because I believe they stole some things from our yard, before.)
I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYk0d is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!
There are loads of videos of BM’s being these magnificent well-trained attack machines so I really appreciate that you are showing how much a BM loves to be loved as well.
I appreciate the transparency and naturalness with which you show the use of all the tools useful for training, even in a historical moment so full of animal rights activists who understand nothing about dogs, learning or training.
I have 2 Belgium Mals. 5 year old Chase, 2 year old Mako. I'm kind of new to this breed but learning to train with professional help. I got the time, $$$ and plenty of space to train and most importantly- Patience and dedication. I have been working with the basics and building strong bond with them both. So far so good. Love these videos. Can't wait to watch them all. Many thanks Andy.
I am a sitter for two Mals because their loyal owner never leaves them to their own devices..So great you have the resources to do the same..u will never regret it.
We got a rescue puppy a year ago They days she was lab/ Shepard cross... I couldn't train her! We found out she is Malinios this is so helpful! Thank you!
Love that you explained the reward delivery mechanics! I’ve learned that how, when & where you reward is so important. I’m def going to use that tip to push the food reward in because my dog tends to creep out of stay positions in anticipation of her food! Thank you!
Awesome! Yes it’s one of my favorites, I even use this same technique rewarding the stand position. Especially pays off for the Change of Position exercise 👍🏻
We just recently took in our sons 3 year old bel mal that he adopted. We are starting with the basics on training. He sits and lays down but not to good on heel and stay. Will be using these techniques for training..wish me luck
It is all about the small details. Watching you in such an „easy“ session is still helpful, also i thought i trained this in a good way for a long time. Thank you Andy!
I recently adopted a mallinois/dachshund mix. (Interesting I know). He is about 8 months and has clearly never had any training which is why the previous family gave him up. I am very dedicated to training this dog so this video is very helpful.
Malinois always have so much love. Those tooth hugs seem to never end 😆 Love my Malinois. Such a good dog. But, you have to keep them occupied. Not a dog for the lazy.
I am loving your channel. My husband and I bought a home, and my parents wanted us to have a dog so we got one of theirs. A few months later we came across someone trying to find homes for blue heeler puppies (I think it was an accidental litter from a backyard breeder) so we now have a 3 yo lab-husky mix and a 9 mo blue heeler. I'm now working hard to train these two and this is helping me to become consistent with the words I use and how to teach commands. My family never taught anything more than sit with our dogs growing up so that was the only one I knew how to teach. After couple weeks the puppy has already learned multiple commands and the lab-husky isn't far behind.
Just stumbled across this on my wall feed, and being that I'm looking into getting one of these adorable fur missiles with unlimited energy known as Belgian Malinois, I found this extremely informative and entertaining at the same time. Love the video
I have a 6 month old Czech line German Shephard in the uk, been watching lots of videos and you are the first to really make sense, within 10 mins of trying the heel and sit and stay commands, he is getting it, I have subscribed and will defo using your videos as a reference... me and Loki thank you
So, about 7 weeks ago, a Belgian (X?) showed up in our barn. About 5 weeks ago, she started swelling like a balloon! 5 nights ago, the night of the lunar eclipse of the full blood moon, she gave birth to 14 healthy pups! Yes, you read that right! 🤯🤯🤯🤯
We had a beautiful but huge Shepherd who I couldn't ever walk with because she pulled so hard. We tried the collar literally one time for about 15 minutes...it was as if before we used the collar, she thought we wanted her to pull us along! She was completely walkable by any sized person after that. She wasn't injured at all and it changed her life. Changed my opinion of the collar forever.
Got our first Malinois -rescued from the local shelter. He is 7 years-has a few basics but no “stay”. Excited to find a trainer on you tube that works on these basics. We have moose-it’s very important to teach “leave it” and “stay” to keep us and Tuck safe.
I have a Belgian malinois and pitbull mix, training him has been and continues to be a handful but the goal is to continue training him until he’s the best he can be
The prong collar for me is essential. Like you said, whether it is used or not. Just having it on ,my boy knows it is pro time. We search treacherous territory, and my boy must behave and immediately obey. I am thrilled you have this channel. Thank you so much.
My dogs are so energetic apart from training i take them on walks everyday! thise guys are so energetic. The moment i miss the time for their walk even if its by a minute those guys would bark and howl until i get their leash and dog treats. Oh the dog treats! Never forget the dog treats theyd be like. Its fun i got the same dog and he jumps on me on a daily bases.
I Just so happen to see your shows tonight and I have literally enjoyed watching each 1. You are what I have been looking for on training dogs such as you do . I am 71 yrs old and have 2 good size dogs that needs a LOT of training. I am excited to try your approach as I have tried so many but yours has interested me the most and want these dogs I have to be able to do the Same thing.. Happy Training Keep on Keepin On. Awesome
We have a German Shepard, definitely a new breed for the family. Bought him 6months, i started training him by watching UA-cam. Yup, he makes a great watch dog & loves the family especially the children. Very needy, big baby, follows me all over the house, sheds a lot, picky eaters. Most of all, we love him and we know he does too. After im finished with school, ive thinking a lot of getting a Belgian Maliona. Yes, itll take a lot of time and patients. Which they have a lot of energy, therefore i need all of my life to be with.
Nice video, but we dont speak french in the town of Mechelen (malinois) its in the flemisch regio off the country . The flemisch name off the belgain malinois is mechelse herder te commands in flemisch are Heel=hiel sit=zit stay=blijf down=lig wait=wacht come=kom off=af leave it= afblijven Belgium is a small country with 3 official languages ,flemisch france and german. Just a little info, like the video and the dog.i got one my self there amizing grtz from belgium gunther
I trained both my standard poodles with a prong collar, and it’s the best tool (if used properly). They were always excited when I put it on because it meant work and fun.
Yes is the same word I use. 10 years ago we took my mallie to a trainer who was adamant we use “touch” as a positive marker. I insisted on using “yes” instead. He said it was a bad idea for various reasons. Cool to see a pro use the same word.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. We don’t allow prongs where I’m from. And our trainer is r+, but I absolutely appreciate great trainers and different methods. Proof is in the pudding. Your dog isn’t displaying meta signals that show distress or discomfort. I think many people see aversive tools and condemn them. It’s easy when we have goofy but highly biddable labs, or Goldens or cavs with low prey drive. I’m always open to learning new things. And you’ve got a new subscriber ☺️
Also I LOVE that you mentioned you don’t need the tools and you give advice for people who aren’t or don’t want to use them. There’s too many people sitting on their moral high horse. Im super impressed with this channel. I came back to this comment because my first was only half way through the video. At the end I was even more impressed.
I have had my Malinois for about 8 weeks and am trying to teach her these basics. She is a puller on the leash, so I’m trying the snack reward. But she would rather sniff and track than heel for a snack. But she’s getting better. She is a very sweet girl with a ferocious counterpart. 🐕🤗
Doing great, it's getting colder every day here. I've been thinking 🤔 about a Mally to grow old with as soon as I heal from my total knee replacement. Are you a Mally Dad ???

I absolutely love this video! My mom and I recently adopted a black BM (training to be my mom's service dog) and while he has that puppy energy, he's learning fast! This video is helpful, and I'm glad to see the e-collar method, too. That's my training method woth this new guy (and my mom's previous service dog) ❤ Well done, I will watch more!
First time watching, Andy Love the energy and 411. Freddy Kruger is a perfect name for these gators. Their claws are equally as sharp and powerful as their teeth, well damn near.
Getting our 1st Mali in mid July. She will be 11 weeks old. I’ve already called the only professional trainer here in southeast AZ to get ahead of the game where we will do a meet and greet w/ them when we bring her home. Do you have any videos on what type of toys, treats, bed space, food and supplies to buy ahead and prepare our home and to have on hand when we pick her up before the long road trip home? Also, I read that you will have full training videos. Are they available yet? I really like your personality and style. I really want to be prepared for our new family member. Also, we have horses and a lazy but amazing big mixed breed dog who stays outside (plenty of shade and she prefers it). Should I keep the other dog out of sight during training to prevent distractions?
All you’ll need is a good crate (no wire), a leash + harness and a quality kibble. I would recommend Destination Dog Training in AZ. Even if it’s far it is worth it. You’re welcome to check out my Patreon but can’t guarantee it’ll have what you’re looking for 🙏🏼
This way the dog anticipates being rewarded up by my face, therefore causing him to look up and even hop towards my face with great enthusiasm 🙌🏻 Helps keep optimum focus 💪🏼
I have 3 chocolate Labs that are amazing animals , healthy, full of love and energy and each priceless in their own way. My next dog will be a BM but I will only have 1 of them and will dedicate myself to our friendship and happiness. What a beautiful buddy you there Sir. My favorite quote is from Tom Sawyer "the more I learn about people, the more I like my dog". Wisest words I have ever heard. Cheers from Canada. Great video and explanation. Seeing a dog interact with you like yours does is such a joy to watch.
I love this breed. I am saying this in fun: you made a 10 minute video of a very well behaved Mallie. What was destroyed in the other 23:50? You know there was something! I miss my Mal
My boys just arrived last night and I will be using these techniques, thank you! As soon as Im finished with all your videos and getting caught up to present day, Im going to become a patreon member!
Freddy sees you as the alpha ~ The teacher ~ His sensei ~ He loves and respects you for that. He will do anything for you, including putting his life on the line for you. He is a good dog, you are a good master.
Got my first Belgian a few weeks ago, he’s 10 weeks now. Love the way you teach the sit, stay command.. Will definitely be giving that a shot. One question.. Good to hand gesture to teach or voice command best for these breeds?
Dogs understand hand movements better than voice. I tested it before by using hand movement and no voice command they understood the command but when I use voice only and no hand movement seems they did not understand.
@@Joshuaxiong2 Thank you for that, due to throat cancer I can’t talk anymore and I’d love to get a Mal but not being able to talk would be such a challenge. Thank you again.
Andy. I’ve watched a few different trainers videos and I have to say that yours are by far the best. Your enthusiasm and energy coupled with the easy to follow instructions are by far the best. Thanks for making great content. I’ve been researching breeds for a few years now. My experience has been with retrievers who are trained thru the handling level. I’ll be retiring and will have plenty of time on my hand to work with a dog. In my research I’ve ran across several of “what I’ll call the Malinois snobs” maybe you know the type, you should not get a Malinois if …….., you should be experienced with protective breeds before you consider a mal….. etc, etc etc. I’ve never herd you say this and you use reason and logic to back it up. Thanks again.
Thank you very much! 🙏🏼 Love to hear this 🙌🏻 Yes I am definitely familiar with the ‘snobs’ haha. I understand not wanting unqualified people to own the breed, but as a pro dog trainer, it’s my job to help new people own any breed of dog, including the Malinois. I have two BIG tips for you! One, find/ meet/ hire a pro dog trainer with tons of Malinois experience, competition experience preferred. Pay them whatever they cost and follow their instruction to a T!! Two, don’t make the mistake of thinking a Malinois needs to be run/ constantly physically stimulated all day. A working dog needs to be WORKED, not just exercised. A good trainer can and will help you establish the difference 🙏🏼
@@hawkeye98 Totally understand. I do not unfortunately, BUT, will be releasing more formal and in depth, step by step training videos next year that will be available for purchase. This is designed to help people just like yourself! There will likely also be a feature that will allow you to send progress video updates 🙏🏼
Great video!!! How do you get the dog to put its head/shoulder against your leg when in heel??? I saw that you had the prong collar facing so the leash would pull towards you. Is that it?
Thanks! First I teach this position with food only over many months. The way I position my food hand will determine where the dog’s head is. Once Freddy understood this position, I then layered in my prong which he already understood leash pressure from. So these two techniques combined is what led to his Heel 🙏🏼
I’ve always wondered if dog breeds from specific countries actually understand they’re native tongue. I just found it interesting that he’s teaching the words in French since it’s spoken in Belgium. Along with German and Dutch.
They come from the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. Some Cops/army use some Dutch or German words ZIT AF BLIJF LAAG. But you can train them in your native tongue.
This is getting kinda scary... I just sat here all day wondering exactly how I could use a prong along with the e-collar. I love these videos man, just keep doing what you do
I have a Belgian malanois whippet mix. She is only a yr old and have had her for two months . I got it from a friend that saw someone literally throwing her out of a rolling car. We do believe that she was in a dog fighting ring at the dog and fought back is the reason why they got rid of her. So she has fear and anxieties. We try to take her for walks in hikes and there's times where she wants to attack everybody and other dogs while we're doing that. We have tried different things to calm her. I've never had aggressive dog like this. She is never been aggressive with us just others that she doesn't know. And this doesn't happen every time sometimes she's just fine. My vet friend said that she has fear and anxiety. I've had dogs my whole life and never had to deal with something like this. I believe once you get an animal you keep them until their times up or our times up. So what kind of suggestions do you have for me to relieve her anxiety and fears
Great video! Thank you for including the french commands. 👍 Questions- do you exercise before training? (it seems like the answer would be no since you want him PUMPED) How much exercise do your mals get a day?
Thanks! 🙏🏼 Great question; I do a 5-10 min run around/ potty break before training, just to get the blood flowing and muscles warm. But yes I want him pumped before the session. When I compete, I may exercise my dog a bit with 5-10 min of tug to take the edge off. My mals get a moderate amount of exercise daily, but I’d bet people would be surprised with how much down time they get. I’ve been through many injuries with many dogs and know over exercise is usually the main culprit. And most newer owners think since their mal ‘has so much energy’ they need to be run all day. Teaching them how to relax and be bored is extremely important to me. The dog works for me, not vice versa!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@AndyKrueger i need to know how to relax my gsd, unless he is sleepy his energy doesnt end, running trhowing ball commands, all of that and after i leave him alone he still barks to people and runs from end to end on the fence. Walks 2 times a day for 2 hours in total, has 1 hour play time and 2 times a day commands for 20ish minutes.
Just got my 8 week old Dutch Shepherd x Malinois mix last Sunday and I can't wait before she's ready to slowly start training (after getting all of her shots) at 12 weeks.
hi andy great work and great video as usual! your dogs are amazing!! i have a doubt about this session you did. you didn't use the e collar, at least during the video, so my question is: did you use it later in the training session or is it a way to have your dog's 'training mode' ON? also that great 'come when called' you did with that little whistle with the dog immediately runs to you: is it conditioned by e-collar training! my 11 month old mal has a good 'came when called' when we are outside our home territory but often i struggle to make her come when she is running around in the field (we don't have fences) at home. she is like 'f**k you i'm having good time here i won't come'!!. for sure we can work more and more on the comand, but do you think with a proper e-collar training can we have better results?
Great questions 🙌🏻 This session he wore the ecollar but I never used it, even after video was over. I wouldn’t use it to ‘activate training mode’ bc later when I don’t want to use the ecollar this could cause problems. Collar going on is normal no matter what we do. 👍🏻 I actually haven’t used the ecollar for his recall at all, BUT, also keep in mind he is in his yard where he is used to things, so recall is easy. If I took him out in public off leash, I’d want him to know the collar for recall first. Using the ecollar the reinforce your recall is one of the best uses for it! Your dog knows if they blow you off you have the ability to reach out and touch them/ correct them immediately no matter the distance 🙏🏼
@@AndyKrueger that makes a lot of sense effectively! during competition dogs have to be in the right mental state without wearing tools.. thank you for your answer!! keep pushing and good bites!! ;)
Thanks! Yes definitely! With a motivated dog, the right equipment and training techniques, she could learn that in a few weeks time. Once learned, you can slowly build up the level of distraction. 👍🏻
I’m glad you said that about the prank collar because I’m totally against them and every trainer I talk to says the prong collar is the easiest way to train the dog and I still I won’t use it so I’m glad to see that it will work with other colors thank you
Well if you want me to be totally honest about it they look like a torture device and I’m afraid if I pulled too hard on the dogs neck it would really hurt being in a wheelchair the dog gets ahead of me yanks when they reach the end of the leash and I’m afraid of hurting them I hate when people hurt animals
@@shebab2386 it's probably different for the dog, but I have worn a prong collar and yanked on it pretty hard. First of all, I don't find it painful. Second, I find it less uncomfortable than the same thing with a choke chain or a slip lead. Again, I have a human neck, so take it for what it is.
I have an Australian kelpie and I have someone issues with her. She learns commands quickly and does them well, but she is so energetic and when ahe gets too worked up she runs around Ike crazy instead of listening . Because of her high energy she has trouble with impulse control. For example, she listens to her basic commands really well in the back yeard, but as soon as I open the gate to take her outside for a walk, she had a lot of trouble listening to heel, I keep having to say it constantly because she runs ahead because she's so excited for her walk. What can I do about that? Also she gets aggressive around dogs and men except at the dog park. She growls, barks and jumps like crazy and every single time. She gets plenty of socialisation at the dog park though so I'm not sure what the issue is. What do you think I should do about this?
My personal opinion I dislike dog parks. A lot. I believe they cause a laundry list of behavior problems. From the sounds of it, it doesn’t sound like she actually knows the Heel command. Have you watched my most recent video? How much time do you spend doing sessions like this with your dog?
@@AndyKrueger no I haven't watched it I'll check it out though. I do training with her almost every day, I do multiple short sessions a day because that's how she seems to learn best. I'm just not sure why she's so well behaved in the backyard and listens to heel so well there, but not in public.
My 10 month old Belgium gets overexcited also after a good exercise so maybe if you don’t walk her and teach her how to calm down with you. I’ve had my since she was two months. She really calms when I rub belly and behind ears. It just chills her out. I have been working with her walking with me since we got her. She’s only on my left side. We don’t go, unless she’s not pulling. So if you put a link chain up around her ears and walk down the block, not allowing her to pull, stop when she begins to pull and jerk on chain, commanding confidently to heal, back, praise with good boy girl, great job. She loves praise but is motivated by treats. You could bring small chopped apples, and every time he does lots of happy positive calm energy. They also feel and know your energy. If you’re not sure, they know it bc it comes through in your commands. They love focusing on lessons. They need something to learn constantly. My husband taught her to sit, down, paw and he’s not great at discipline but they are willing. We’re the ones that have problems with confidence in discipline our dogs. They are not our babies. I’m a Nanny and I’m crazy in love with babies, but my no, is no. No doubt given. The babies know not to try me bc they will go on timeout. It’s the same for pups.they require guidance or they will go astray. I had a Shepard mix that was very aggressive but if I said it was ok, he knew he better back off or he lost his place with me and I’d put him away. No tolerance for aggression unless situation calls for it. Be sure if what you want form your dog and they will carry it through for you. I say this with true understanding and love for those in our care. Lots of love nurturing and discipline makes for great kids and pets. My cat knew not to scratch on anything but where she was allowed. I think if you begin to watch videos of your breed, you’ll begin to pick up important tips. Take what you agree to be beneficial and truly begin all over again as though you JUST got the dog. Everyday, is a new beginning. We can undo any mistakes. Just be committed, consistent, persistent, and confident knowing you’re the boss with firmness no uncertainty. You are the one in control if the dog gets out of hand. It’s a lesson for us also in our discipline. No anger, no loss of patience. Just know everyday is a new opportunity to teach and it will come through to your dog that you’re going to win the test and he’s going to want to please you. I’m saying this from my own experience bc it’s natural for us to begin to treat them as babies but that’s the wrong idea. They need our rein to align their mindset and determination. They’re highly intelligent and will act up as bored children do when not stimulated in a boring classroom. Keep teaching him and you will be proud of yourself.I’m getting a trainer so I can teach her to jump obstacles for her exercises. I’m not done learning about animals and pets myself so have fun training with you bud.
Brother... one tip for filming, I know you want to show a bit of "lively camera perspective", like your personality, but the way you are doing it right now - will give people motion sickness. Try stop start change of perspective jumpcuts to show faster action. but that certainly doesn't go well with this particular topic. Apart from that, the training was spot on. I used to train dogs so I can definitely tell both of you loved the training. Also, what a beautiful dog. Have a good one mate! Keep up the good work, cheers from Australia.
Somewhat helpful but it seems that you’ve already started training him off camera so he’s familiar with it. Some videos of what to do and how to teach them from scratch would be helpful. For instance, what to do when you say sit, and they don’t know how to sit or when you say stay and they don’t understand that yet.
I just found your channel today. I'm getting interested in both training dogs in general and also the awesome Malinois breed. Thanks for the videos. I'll be busy watching them all
my Belgian malinois has to live with me in a semi truck sleeper berth, it's pretty small for this dog from what I understand. her other alternative is some kind of shelter or give her away 😩😨 I picked her up from a kill shelter.. so I don't know how many options she has left. I don't mind her company and don't need to get rid of her. But I would like to know, if anyone has any recommendations for me to help stimulate her mentally? we can't get very physical often, she loves playing fetch and brings the toy right back 😍 any opinions and exercises or techniques would be greatly appreciated. thank you
Great fast easy lessons, you have helped me and my pup out a lot. Is there any kind of registry for good trainers by location? Been difficult finding someone who wants to work with my pup AND me. Im probably more of the problem with any of my dogs training issues. Glad to hear your putting together training videos to purchase.
Thanks so much, that’s great to hear! There’s no registry unfortunately. Dog training tends to be a little Wild West like haha. I understand though, most ob ‘trainers’ want to slap a quick, pressure heavy board and train on the dog. You’ll definitely love my new video series coming in the near future 🙏🏼 It will be unique to anything currently available on the market! Where are you located?
@@dethdriver1974 Not sure of anyone good in that area unfortunately. Just keep on the grind and train every day no matter what. Your pup can only rely on you! 🙏🏼
Hi Andy, thanks for the list of French commands you sent me Instagram. Because of your vids I decided to use the French commands as opposed to the German commands everyone uses. I also started my 11mo old Mal, Rocky, with protection work because of you! I’m still trying to figure out some commands in French, just wondering if there are certain French words that you use for bitework?
Thank you so much for this video brother. I needed something like this since I just got a BM a week ago and she’s only 13 months. Can’t exactly take her to work with our BM on base, so this is helpful for ME working with her one on one.
@@danielsnyder4114 Thank you! Have you ever competed in a bite sport with a Malinois? Or just owned pets? I ask bc I raise and train competition working dogs differently than house pets.
@@AndyKrueger no sir. I’m at pet stage now. After my LE K9 life, bitework is mostly a thing of the past. I’ll come out of my hole on a rare occasion, but really I’m done

You don’t scold puppies. You’re putting them in situations setting them up for failure. Therefore need to scold yourself!
Thank you 🙏🏼
We work hard to achieve high levels of training using the best equipment possible! 🙌🏻
This is a BELGIAN MALINOIS. It’s a dog that needs training, and love it.
@@Truc_Aveline All dogs, no matter breed, needs training tho. Some just more than others.
Mines loves playing fetch I taught her to sit and stay with a soft ball 😂 worked like a charm
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Hlo
My dog 🐶 does not backs
Thank you 🙏🏼
I appreciate the transparency and naturalness with which you show the use of all the tools useful for training, even in a historical moment so full of animal rights activists who understand nothing about dogs, learning or training.
I have 2 Belgium Mals. 5 year old Chase, 2 year old Mako. I'm kind of new to this breed but learning to train with professional help.

Those tooth hugs seem to never end 😆
Love my Malinois.

Thank you very much 🙏🏼
I have a 6 month old Czech line German Shephard in the uk, been watching lots of videos and you are the first to really make sense, within 10 mins of trying the heel and sit and stay commands, he is getting it, I have subscribed and will defo using your videos as a reference... me and Loki thank you
So, about 7 weeks ago, a Belgian (X?) showed up in our barn. About 5 weeks ago, she started swelling like a balloon! 5 nights ago, the night of the lunar eclipse of the full blood moon, she gave birth to 14 healthy pups! Yes, you read that right! 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I'm in a similar boat... I had a backyard throw away move in, and she just popped out 10 pups
Changed my opinion of the collar forever.
you mean the ecollar? So what did you do when the dog pulled? press the button and then he stops pulling?
Gotta love the Freddy man!!!
Oh yeah! 💪🏼🙏🏼

Awesome! I teach by luring with food. Once they lure into the behavior perfectly every time then I name it! 🙏🏼
Dogs understand hand movements better than voice.
I tested it before by using hand movement and no voice command they understood the command but when I use voice only and no hand movement seems they did not understand.

🙏🏼 Love to hear this 🙌🏻
Yes I am definitely familiar with the ‘snobs’ haha.

Fantastic, man! Just got a very similar looking Malinois and I can't wait until she gets a bit older so I can train her! Thanks for your content!
I’ve always wondered if dog breeds from specific countries actually understand they’re native tongue. I just found it interesting that he’s teaching the words in French since it’s spoken in Belgium. Along with German and Dutch.
I don’t believe so
Hi, I volunteer-walk this beautiful black Malinois in a shelter in LA. And I do speak Dutch & German and no he doesn’t listen to that at all.
They come from the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. Some Cops/army use some Dutch or German words ZIT AF BLIJF LAAG. But you can train them in your native tongue.
Once the dog knows the limitations and where it stands then he feels secure❤

hi andy great work and great video as usual! your dogs are amazing!! i have a doubt about this session you did. you didn't use the e collar, at least during the video, so my question is: did you use it later in the training session or is it a way to have your dog's 'training mode' ON? also that great 'come when called' you did with that little whistle with the dog immediately runs to you: is it conditioned by e-collar training! my 11 month old mal has a good 'came when called' when we are outside our home territory but often i struggle to make her come when she is running around in the field (we don't have fences) at home. she is like 'f**k you i'm having good time here i won't come'!!. for sure we can work more and more on the comand, but do you think with a proper e-collar training can we have better results?
Great questions 🙌🏻
This session he wore the ecollar but I never used it, even after video was over. I wouldn’t use it to ‘activate training mode’ bc later when I don’t want to use the ecollar this could cause problems. Collar going on is normal no matter what we do. 👍🏻
I actually haven’t used the ecollar for his recall at all, BUT, also keep in mind he is in his yard where he is used to things, so recall is easy. If I took him out in public off leash, I’d want him to know the collar for recall first. Using the ecollar the reinforce your recall is one of the best uses for it! Your dog knows if they blow you off you have the ability to reach out and touch them/ correct them immediately no matter the distance 🙏🏼

I’m glad you said that about the prank collar because I’m totally against them and every trainer I talk to says the prong collar is the easiest way to train the dog and I still I won’t use it so I’m glad to see that it will work with other colors thank you
Thank you 🙏🏼 Would you mind elaborating on exactly why you don’t like prong collars?
@@AaronJaeger your pain tolerance is different from a dog 🤦🏽♀️
@@non_conformist4229 from what I've read, for many dogs, it's higher than ours.
How often to you recommend training sessions per day?

Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Realising every command with s heel position is good idea
@@unknown27669 It is because she does not have the skill set to generalize the command.
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Brother... one tip for filming, I know you want to show a bit of "lively camera perspective", like your personality, but the way you are doing it right now - will give people motion sickness.
Of course! Training starts the moment you get the puppy! If the dog doesn’t respond to commands, then they don’t know the commands!
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I just found your channel today. I'm getting interested in both training dogs in general and also the awesome Malinois breed. Thanks for the videos. I'll be busy watching them all
my Belgian malinois has to live with me in a semi truck sleeper berth, it's pretty small for this dog from what I understand.
her other alternative is some kind of shelter or give her away 😩😨
I picked her up from a kill shelter.. so I don't know how many options she has left. I don't mind her company and don't need to get rid of her.
But I would like to know, if anyone has any recommendations for me to help stimulate her mentally? we can't get very physical often, she loves playing fetch and brings the toy right back 😍
any opinions and exercises or techniques would be greatly appreciated. thank you
I’d keep playing fetch when you can and mix up the different toys you use to create variety. Ball, frisbee, tugs, jolly balls etc 👍🏻
Cool video I just got a 1 yr. Old Belgian he's out of control but very smart I kno he's still a pup 🐶 your video was awesome thank you!
He is out of control? OR, you have yet to arrange a lifestyle and training regiment that suits him? 😊🙌🏻🙏🏼

Hi Andy, thanks for the list of French commands you sent me Instagram. Because of your vids I decided to use the French commands as opposed to the German commands everyone uses. I also started my 11mo old Mal, Rocky, with protection work because of you! I’m still trying to figure out some commands in French, just wondering if there are certain French words that you use for bitework?
Awesome! Yep just google ‘French dog commands’ 👍🏻
Thank you so much for this video brother. I needed something like this since I just got a BM a week ago and she’s only 13 months. Can’t exactly take her to work with our BM on base, so this is helpful for ME working with her one on one.
Noticed that he jumps up on you a lot. Happens to be a pet peeve of mine. How would you suggest training that out?
No need! Maturity will take care of that for me 👍🏻
I agree. That face jumping chit would stop immediately. But overall, I like the videos
