    Hey Samurai, you should totally check out the punk band "Captured by Robots." For years now this awesome guy has been touring and writing music using robots to play guitar, bass, and drums (and I think horns?) and his whole gimmick is that the robots are aliens who came to earth, captured him, and forced him to sing for their band. They even have little skits between songs. It's kind of amazing.

    Chris Wolstenholm of Muse used the Misa Kitara as a bass in "Madness". He has a double neck one with the Kitara and a four string for playing that song live. Pretty cool.

      To me misa kitara sounds like a misheared version of "missä kitara" which means "where's the guitar" in finnish

      Matt Bellamy, also of Muse ofcourse, has a Kaoss-pad in some of his guitars. It's not entirely the same, but looks a lot like it. It is an awesome pice of his guitars

    Air guitar world championship was invented in Finland in 1996 at Oulu's music festival and it has been part of that festival ever since

      I used to think that the synth axe was custom made for A. Holdsworth RIP.

    Air guitar is too difficult, that's why I air DJ. Although you do get a sore neck from holding the invisible( half off) headphones with your shoulder.

    Rickenbacker 366/12 Convertible is truly bizzare instrument, it can be converted from 12 to 6 strings in an instant. Amazing!

      The Sterling engine is powered by the heat of the candle indeed, but the candle also powers a separate electric mechanism via a small solar cell.

    You know thanks to vox and their headphone amplifier you can turn any car into an amp using the aux cord, truly great for gigging anywhere

    Shout-out to clippard. My high school robotics team used to use their air tanks and all my shit is covered in clippard stickers cuz I think their logo looks sick as fuck and they would always have extra stickers.

    i saw this bbc documentary on heavy metal from the early 80s awhile back, they had something called headbanging competitions which was like that air guitar championship, but with imitation guitars made of cardboard or ply wood, haven't seen anything like it in my lifetime but early iron maiden fans seemed really into it

    looks like that candle thing is either a stirling engine, or a flame licker.. also there was an episode of "top gear" where they had eric clapton try out one of these amps with a windshield - and you should check out Compressorhead - a robot band powered by pneumatics! (and servos too, i think)

    Check out the Viditar, also known as the ocular noise machine. It was invented by a guy in a band I know called Sinch that was signed to Roadrunner at one point, they have since broken up after releasing two albums after Roadrunner dropped them.
    It is a guitar shaped interface device designed to play and manipulate video in real time for play on a big screen and/or TVs during a live performance. They even included a sample of the software to play with on their first post Roadrunner release, Clearing the Channel.

    Have you checked out Wintergaten's channel? Martin went viral with his marble machine last year, not only is he working on a second one but he's also been going to a music museum(probably for inspiration) and sharing the old instruments. Not guitars, jazz or rock, but still pretty cool stuff.

    YO, don't forget the YAMAHA EZ-AG. Had one when I was younger. Basically like a $250 version of a synthaxe crossed with a kitara crossed with a cheap Casio keyboard that has the learning functions.

    That last guy is totally wrong. You absolutely could hold a gun and play air guitar. You use a handgun to “strum” and you “fret” with the other hand. Just make sure you don’t shoot yourself in the thigh.

    Honestly, 6 grand for the Zivex pedal is not unreasonable. Yes it's expensive, and most people wouldn't buy it, but it's handmade. Not to mention really fucking cool.

    That synth axe was actually an amazing invention, it can do pretty much anything you'd hope for it to do... like you can virtually move the capo...and then play behind the virtual capo. Everything was thought of with that invention - except for the look. Jesus christ, it was hideous. Seems like a great studio tool, but I wouldn't want to be seen holding that thing.

    I'd love to find one of the in car VW amps so I can hook up a guitar to my car stereo! Maybe I could get a stereo with an external input and find a device that uses 12v of less oto amplify the guitar to preamp levels and run it that way?
