Altoids amp was actually pretty damn cool
I wish it at least had a gain knob tho
@GubbaNubNubDooRahKah, why the name? The more volume on your guitar, the more gain in the amp. It’s weird but it exists.
@@jonathangozzo3737
So you have to play really quietly on an already weak amp to get a clean tone?
That one was my favorite
don’t you mean fresh?
There should be a talent booster that plays an entirely different guitar track when a signal comes in
that's actually pretty cool
Guitar to midi converter, set up a DAW to turn midi notes into a trigger for samples, done.
It plays 0 3 5 perfectly
That's just kiss with more steps.
That's what I was expecting lol.
I have to say the altoids box was in pretty mint condition.

Those green strings are SWEET! Do they make bass strings? I think it would look even better with the thicker strings. Plus, I'm a bassist and green is my favorite color.
dont know if its the same brand but a friend of mine uses neon strings on his bass. even a 5 string set and different colors.
they do and its called mr neon. They come in a couple different colors
Yeah
Yes they make bass strings. I used to have a green bass with pink dr strings that looked amazing!
They do. I use them in my black squier bass and they look and sound amazing
I did the prank on my drummer Paul.
He fell of the stage.

Talent Booster + Blame Shifter = untouchable tone
you could sell a single paper plate on reverb and it would sell for $20

That Talent Booster pedal seems like a great way to couple two cables together as an extension, if you're in a windy place where a flimsy coupler just won't do.
For a guy who’s always so serious in his videos, he has some pretty funny joke
The different ways you wore the pulse metronome has me dying

I was ready to buy the last pedal and then found out it doesn’t work what a disappointment
why? It works as designed - doing nothing.
It boosts your talent by forcing you to play better and not letting you hide behind effects.
If you’re looking for an alternative, check out the saündfraud pedal from Chicago music exchange

@@hyperbiscuit2284 nothing wrong with effects if you use them wisely. I notice people leave the chorus on for whole songs. Kurt Cobain didn't even do that lol

6:20 3 people got that joke, and it was great
iMetronome or the fact that he looks like the big boss from MGS?
I've used the bass version of those DR Neons for a KoRn covers show. They actually go alright! But the neon coating does rub off fairly quickly in spots where you are fretting them a lot.
That first gimmicky video is how I discovered you. Greatest UA-cam channel find yet. Keep up the great content!
Had a good chuckle with the metronome. I like this series!
i love the gimmicky guitar gadgets videos. please make more. i was gonna buy these products but your reviews helped out. thank you so much and i love your attitude too :)
I can't believe this took this long to show up in my feed. I love these. I lost it with the metronome going everywhere.
The Gizmotron sounds like the Guitar Hero editor. Cheers from Portugal.
I just realized how much I love your near sarcastic dry humor
Absolutely love how you deliver your punchlines in deadpan manner. Really enjoyed the video! :)
This video would be amazing for content alone, but the subtle jokes and sense of humour you add really makes it amazing. Glad I'm a subscriber. :)
3:47 I'm glad the universe didn't explode.
The Gizmotron gives me PTSD flashbacks to to the hammer jammer.
now listen to the original Gizmotron... which is what Page uses for the cool trippy intro of "IN THE EVENING" by zep!
The original Gizmotron was invented in the mid 1970s by Kevin Godley & Lol Creme, ex 10CC members, and directors of many of the first music videos. It was launched to great fanfare but was never a success then and probably won't be this time round either. An E-bow is a better alternative (see Samurai Guitarist's first guitar gadgets video).
3:53 - "Gizmotron" is a clever name. It's not just techie sounding, but seems to hint at the underlying mechanism. The Mellotron, likely the inspiration for the name, has a continuously rotating capstan. Pressing a key doesn't affect the rotation, but instead presses audio tape against the mechanism, like a clutch. Similarly, the Gizmotron has a continuously rotating sort of drive shaft, and pressing the keys engages or disengages the individual wheels. Tonewheel organs and glass armonicas operate in a similar way.
The altoids bit i my family on point. Me (funny guy) Bassist, Dad (funniest guy) Guitarist, Brother (Oblivious guy) Drumer.
I actually have the gummy double pick. You get twice the attacks, but the normal amount of sustain, so you don't get the harmonics you would with a 12-string. In fact, when I'm strumming I don't even notice a difference in the sound.
However, it's cool because you can pluck two strings at once. It's still pretty gimicky, but it was worth the little bit I paid for it.
Does the thick squishy part make it more comfortable to hold? Or do you even notice?
...But how does it taste?
@@jimjambananaslam3596 Didn't try it.
@@Hennu_TRM I honestly haven't played with it enough to notice. It is comfortable, but I wouldn't necessarily say more than a regular pick.

3:06 why do I feel personally attacked ?
This video is GOLD! You are one of my very favorite videographers, because you’re obviously quite intelligent, funny as hell, and have a great and well-modulated voice, with (seemingly) a matching temperament. Please continue to show us The Way, sensei. Oh, and I had a Talent pedal, too. Didn’t work, so I gave it to a buddy, and wow! He just started rippin’ it up like way beyond any chops he’d ever shown me. Turns out I had installed the battery upside-down.
Good vids!! Was kinda glad you gave a thumbs up on the ebow last vid. I use it with my loop station and delay pedal. Trippy stuff bro!! Keep these videos going !! Really insightful

I've totally got to get those green neon strings.
The Ampoids sounded rather good.
Superb sounds from that Gizmotron.
I now want a Talent Booster to add to my pedals. :)
You should try the Gizmotron with a slide
I was hoping the Talent Booster would play Yngwie-style licks while you pantomime the guitar 😋
Jesus Christ died for your sins please repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand 🚧⛽️🚈🚈🚥🚆🪝✈️
True bypass...well worth the money. I put mine on the end of my hybrid analog/digital/speak-n-spell pedal board rig. Sounds beastly through the modified 24X12 Altoids Spearmint deluxe custom amp/cab I had made in Switzerland. I close half the cans so i get that perfect brown sound
I got the Dr Strings on a complete vanity buy a while back and they ended up becoming my go to strings. They sound very bright but the coating or whatever they use for the color makes the strings feel so smooth! I would honestly have them even if they weren't coloured just for the feel.
Put "Gizmotron: Legacy" on a CD, I would download it.
fact: the talent booster will give you confidence but no actual talent, but you can always find a teacher, learning app, a friend, a family member, or a book to improve your talent and don't forget to practice! 😉
Our drummer actually used one of those pulse metronomes by strapping it to his ankle and facing it toward the drums so he could feel and see the pulse, and since the front of the drums were black and there are usually other lights, only he could see it. Worked pretty well for him
My first thought when you started talking about the Pulse Metronome was...gee, Paul "Muad'Dib" Atreides would love this, a micro-Thumper, to summon very small Worms....LOL!
“What’s your favourite amp brand”
“Altoids”.
The pulse metronome seems useful
I think it looks really stupid haha.
Music is an auditory experience - using touch sensation to frame it is like a recipe for lasagne based on the electrical conductivity of each ingredient
@@nuberiffic dont get me wrong, it does look pretty stupid hahaha. But I think it's a good way to keep time, to actually feel in your body the time, just like you can feel a song, I think it's a good idea, not a pretty or elegant one, but good.
@@danielffnando I think it's terrible way to keep time.
There's a reason music teachers clap the beat rather than poke you to it.
danielffnando I have one, and it’s actually really useful. It helps with internalizing the beat, since you’re feeling it. Pairing the pulse with the app lets it be used to the full potential. The only issue is that it’s hard feeling the vibrations on certain parts of the body.
Yeah, people can feel the beat that the bass is laying down inside of them by standing next to the subwoofer at a show. I don't see how it's much different than that. Nothing unnatural there
Ok I love the talent booster!! Looking it up and sending link's to about a dozen folk!!
So i bought the DR strings a while back for my bass as a joke while my preferred strings where on order from amazon. I really only needed them for practice that night. That was 2 years ago and those preferred strings are still in there package in my bag as backups. I've gone through multiple sets of the DR's because I actually really enjoy the tone they give on that bass.
I can't wait for "Testing Out Gimmicky Guitar Gadgets 3"
..."This time it's wah!"
😁
this is hilarious but not very useful to me most of these products are for electric guitars and im (currently) an acoustic guy only. nonetheless i really enjoyed it! keep up the great work!
I'm also a diagnosed acoustic
Love the honesty about making this video! Your content is always top notch either way!
Ive always liked the dr "color strings" for bass. Not for the looks but because the coating gives the strings a very hard to replicate feel.somewhere. between flats and roundwounds.
Also the large strap for the metronome is for drummers to put around their legs.
I've used a comb as a pick, sounds horrible, I don't recommend it.
I've used coins, fossil sharks tooth, thin rocks from eBay, just about every oddball pick I could find.😄 I get some nice tones on an acoustic with horn and bone.
Folded matchbook... also used to put a penny on the train tracks to flatten then and get a cheap copper pick..
"it does not" lol
3:22 the song and artist name is doubled up because he is using a double guitar pick
love these small details...
The funniest video yet! Thanks SG! Shared to The Practical Guitarist page. This is great.
I just learned you can get copyright striked for playing a song on UA-cam
The Shockmaster apparently even if it is fair use. 🙄
6:43 "Here is something that is objectively horrible sounding"
Hey, don't go shoving your elitist standard of quality in music down my throat!
**Hears it**
Sounds pretty punk rock to me.
it just needs a good drum beat!
The larger metronome strap is for strapping to your leg. This usage is especially great for drummers.
DR Neon strings are great. Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu uses them. The bright coating makes strings last longer even when things get hot and sweaty. From personal experience I'd recommend them, especially to guitarists who gig a lot.
STUPID DRUMMER YOU JUST GOT PRANKED!
its funny because the altoid amp sounds better than a line 6
Way funnier than I expected. That metronome placement is fire
I bought the pulse metronome when I saw it on CSGuitars' channel and really liked the idea:
If you DO want to feel the beat, I think you will like it and should definitively try it.
If you DON'T want to hear the metronome sound, for example when recording acoustic guitar, I wouldn't buy it, since the vibration can be a bit noisy.
Looks are only 75% of playing guitar😂😂
You look good with a choker
Definitely would love to see more of these
Thanks so much for linking everything. Just ordered my new amp. Super excited to get it in and do a review!
(Not normally what I do on my channel. Just managing expectations lol) seriously though. Awesome video!
