Is he the fastest? No. Is he the most technical? No. But what Chris does have is pocket, and taste. He doesn’t wow you with his chops, he does what every rock solid drummer does, sits in the song, keeps the pocket fat, and the feel perfect.
Art does a pretty decent job, but Chris was the pillar of the band. The guitars and riffs are always top notch but his drumming is what I dig the most when I blast it in my car.
My dad(who’s a drummer) had this on dvd when it came out that we got at a local music shop back home in Santa Cruz. I was 12 in ‘05 and I would watch it a lot and get pumped to go up in my room and play my kit! Brought back lots of memories!
I remember watching this as 13-14 year old in 2005-2006, just started to play drums, being mindblown by Chris's playing and trying to emulate everything he did. Even his assjumping on the throne. Love it.
Damn. Didn’t realize he learned so late! One thing I’ve always loved about his drumming is how clean it sounds: not just timing but volume. Each stroke sounds the same. He always looks so relaxed. I bet it was learning to play along with the Aerosmith cd rather than starting with a drum pad tbh
I am a Guitarist but love drums and to find out Chris was only playing the drums for 10 years when ASHES OF THE WAKE was released makes me really glad i switched to guitar back in 1980! His playing is devastating for a guy that only has 10 years into it on that record!😲😱
One of my favourite band, and most definitely one of my all time favourite drummers, hes unbelievable. Also I absolutely love Mike Bordin from faith no more
I've watched this set individually a few times, but it's the first time I've heard that they've never played Blood of the Scribe live before. It's an absolute beast, and such a shame that they don't.
People that hear this on the radio and just think theirs no rhyme or reason to it but then they see the band play it with their OWN two hands and feet and voice and then the look on their face realizing that this is on a whole other level. This is geniuses at their craft

It's my favorite too, but the first I heard was Remorse is for the dead. At first I had a hard time with the vocals but it grew on me and I started listening to the other stuff. Now I listen to them pretty much daily.
I learned guitar at 13 and learned the very basics of drumming shortly after, but never had my own kit, so I’ve only played a handful of times. I’m 24 now, idk if it’s too late or not, and I don’t really care. I’m gonna do my best to do what I can. This is very reassuring to know he was around my age when he learned. I know that’s never gonna be me, but hell, at least I’m already better than Lars

I love how the one camera guy keeps wanting to cut to Willie like...fuuuuck! I know this is supposed to be about Chris right now, but God Damnit they're both so F-ing good! 😁🤘
Man, I used to play drums about 15 years ago before I got married and I hope to pick it up again soon but i love music. I came across this video by chance. Not a LOG fan because of the vocals, but these two fucking rip! Came to watch Chris play, found myself wanting more camera on Willes hands. Both are great but Wille is a goddamn beast!
man awesome drumming from an amazing drummer. Chris if I could be half as good as you are would be a dream come true. love you man wish you were still with lamb of god.... although the new drummer is another amazing drummer.
as a guitarist, let's take a moment to appreciate how flawlessly Willie plays these songs.. what a legend

That last riff from Hourglass is so freaking hard.

In 2005 every metal drummer wanted to sound like Chris Adler.

Chris Adler is extremely intelligent. You can tell that thoughtfulness translates to his success as a drummer.
His drumming on Protest the Hero’s “Volition” album really let him show off his chops. No idiot can lay licks like that!
Straight up wisdom:
"Drums are a whole lot of fun to play. It's not about beating yourself up for what you can't do. It's about what you CAN do."
Yeah he didn't push himself that's obvious

But both their new singles are pretty dope in their own way. Art has his own style and Chris has his own. No drummer is better than the other.

Most metal drummers these days just copy what the guitars are doing. I like Adler because he’s more than just that. 💪
let's hope he never washes the pants he wears, because you do NOT want this guy to lose the dirtiness in his pockets!!!!
Granted but actually very few end up being able to pull that off. He kicks ass and stays on tracks like no other though
Why is that the measure of a metal drummer? Just play whatever you think the song requires.
Chris did his homework, he listened also Billy Cobham and such as opposite to some others.
He’s a great speaker! Lol
Yeah that surprised me! He’s an excellent orator
I'm so sad about that he's no longer a member of Lamb of God these days, Chris is one of my inspirational musician for being me as a drummer.
I feel that Art Cruz is one of the only viable replacements but I'll always love Chris' feel and dynamic

His snare helped them have a more unique sound his replacement is killer but his drums don't sound very good
