Make sure the new filter has four little holes on the far inside end. Yamaha makes a similar filter that is the same size as the TW filter. That one has two holes. I have heard of Yamaha mechanics making this simple mistake.
Thanks Matt, you have made a TW believer out of me and am now on the hunt for my 1st TW! Glad you converted Scatterdad as well! Thanks so much for all of your videos….think I have seen them all now! Kevin in OR.
You Bet Kevin!! Thanks for watching and I can't believe you have seen all of them! Yeah, Scatterdad doesn't like to admit that he's a fan of the TW....but we all know the truth!
Thanks, Matt. I hope you are enjoying your summer and hopefully by next summer I will find some land in UT or CO where I can move and have a great place to ride TWs and ATVs. Keep up the great videos! Steve from KY
Hey Steve! I would love to see Kentucky and I would love to go to a horse track. I haven't been to one in years and I thought they were awesome. We do have some cool places to ride out here but I sure would like to visit out where you are as well and see the cool country you have out there and enjoy some southern BBQ!!
It's a good followup check. Assuming you used a filter with the holes in it, you shouldn't have to worry too much about the little bolt (which is very sensitive to how much you torque it too).
Hello Matt, I was just wondering if you use Synthetic Oil in your TW200? This is going to be my second oil change on my TW at 1700 miles. I was thinking about Synthetic and I wasn’t sure about switching over if I had to do anything special because I’ve been using Yamalube regular oil? Reading the Forums they say the TW shifts better and smoother but not really sure about that either. Thanks Matt. James.
Thanks, I am glad you liked it! I am using the Drag Specialties Narrow Center Jack. Here is the link if you're interested. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/drag-specialties-narrow-center-jack-p?ref=1033&
Matt your newer bike is set up a lot nicer then the older machines which had those darn Phillips head screws. I took mine and put all hex head bolts which made it so much easier to tightened and loosen when doing any maintenance.
The original is a screen and doesn't need to be replaced unless it is old and worn or torn. The replacement is a paper unless you order the stock screen.
oil changes are NOT as important as people make out! Some people fuss and fuss over absolutely unimportant stuff......the whole western world is obsessed with perfection. Think about it, if you Never ever changed the oil.....that bike would still run perfectly fine for the next 10 years! .....you NEED to travel in some other countries friend! Bikes are for use and enjoyment ....NOT to be fussed over and worshiped every day! Oh and lets face it it would NOT make much difference what tension you placed on those bolts!.............just tighten them up for F sake!
We dont live in those parts of the world where things get overlooked because of necessity. People in developed countries take a pride in ownership thats a part of western culture in particular. Oil changes are very important for the longevity of your engine, yes they will go on a while under neglect but should we want to make that a virtue and an attitude we should adopt to appease people in less affluent parts of the world. Definitely need to know info.
Good Call! Thanks for pointing that out, I really appreciate it! Gonna pin this comment so folks will see it.

Straight and to the point, thanks man!
You bet! Thanks for watching and I hope it helps.
The title 🥺 Thanks Matt ❤
You got it! Not that hard to do. Any questions I can help with?
I picked up new 2021 TW back in January. I've enjoyed watching your videos. Thanks for all the great info, Ryan✌️
Hey Ryan! Thanks for taking the time to watch and for the comment. I really appreciate it and thanks for sticking around.
It's true. You can do it.
Wait... isn't there something about loosening a bolt up high and making sure oil weeps out?
It's a good followup check. Assuming you used a filter with the holes in it, you shouldn't have to worry too much about the little bolt (which is very sensitive to how much you torque it too).
Yeah, most of those bolts are pretty sensitive to how much torque is used.....don't overdo them!

Hey James! I have ran both off and on and I haven't felt a difference other than the price. I would say you are just fine with the Yamalube.
@@MOBStreet83 thanks, Matt. I kinda figured the same. James.

@@MOBStreet83 No in the 30+ years of owning it I don't have any negative things to say,
Sweet! Thanks for letting us know!
Great info Matt 👍👍
Thanks Ed! I appreciate it!
Why is the original filter different than the replacement? The replacement is just pleated paper, the original is just a brass mesh???
The original is a screen and doesn't need to be replaced unless it is old and worn or torn. The replacement is a paper unless you order the stock screen.
Mine came stock with a paper filter 🤷🏻♂️
Really, that is the first I have heard of one coming stock with paper filter...I thought they all came with the metal mesh filter.
I didn't hear anything about the oil bleed screw on the head .....
I believe that's only for checking to see if oil is flowing. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think it is super important
@@Squarebodyshelley Only a problem if you used a filter without the holes. :) Otherwise, not a critical check for sure.
This is what I love to see! Folks answering each others questions and taking the time to help!
