Hey Ronny! From the dealership or from selling it privately? I have seen that from the dealerships but some folks are saying selling privately it could help.
@@MOBStreet83 Hi Matt, strip her down for both, you won't get much from either & you know how much all of that will cost you to replace. Actually, ask the dealer how much he would pay you for your trade with & then without the extras - he will probably laugh :)
Yup. Return the 2021 to stock and sell it. Makes no sense to me to sell it with your add ons only to have to buy them again. This assumes you like all the add ons.
All done you'll save more money taking everything off that you want to keep for the next bike. Plus you won't have to wait on new parts. Most are happy just to get their hands on one even stripped down.
Matt, the 2023 TW I asked about in Sep 2022 - dealer put me on a list - called me last week, I am picking mine up on 4 April 2023 up here in Canada - he said he just got 2 in. It will keep my 2017 TW company, lol. All the best, Ronny
Given that they have changed the bike so little since 2001 i would not expect any changes other than color in the near future. In fact the only non color change since 01 was the rear shock in 16 when they change suppliers. Unfortunately I would expect Yamaha to discontinue the TW entirely before they added something like FI. As far as your question. If i had a 2021 i would not be in the market for a 2023 as a replacement given that its the same bike, the only gain here is a fatter wallet for the dealership. We have 2 2006's and i see no reason to buy a newer/new model year given that its the same bike. I will run these into the ground before i buy a new one if that is even possible.
I agree with you on that! I think they would disco it before any real big changes came to the TW. I am in no hurry to get rid of my 2021. I don't have any complaints about it at all and I love riding it. If I can, I will keep it and just get the 2023 and add it to the stable. However, I also want to make sure that the content stays relevant to the TW and if there is some little quirk with the new models I want folks to know about it. Just like the clutch spring that wasn't attached correctly on some of the newer bikes, I really just want to help with what I can.
Better put the bike in the will for the grandkids because I don't think you can run them into the ground lol. The bike has become a Cult following. Remember the old book the little train that thinks it could. The new book should say the TW 200 That knows it can. A very unestimated bike.

Dude a month ago my dealer said he had a handful of tw's coming in early july. only one of the 5 wasn't sold yet. I put my deposit down. Month goes by no word. Email they respond in a vague email "shipdate 7/15"... well few days later i call then get an dealer on the line giving me the run around "your tw isn't in yet! It's gunna be a couple weeks gotta setup and assemble and get titles blah blah." Another week goes by not a word. It's just annoying because there's something sketchy going on I don't believe the supply chain bs. At least in this particular scenario. So here i am no clue when im getting my bike not looking like july at all when he sold me on having it early july. Frustrating
I am sorry! That would be extremely frustrating. I know this buying scenario isn't the norm since this is a dealer I know and work well with. That is the hard part for sure and I can see why folks are paying a lot for used TW's right now, some would rather pay more to completely bypass the dealer. I hope it does show up in July for you! Is the dealer close enough that you can go in and talk to someone?
@@MOBStreet83 i know and that's for a 2022 tw my bill says 🤦♂️ and no unfortunately they are very hard to come by in newengland right now and this dealers a good hour south of me but they actually sold my dad his tw last year so i know they have been getting them while other dealers cant even get them.. maybe depends on dealership size and their credit with distributors idk just crossing my fingers and sitting tight. I'm usually the impulse buy gotta have it now person haha just trying to not think about it but then a mobstreet comes out with a tw video and you get me fired up again haha
@@MOBStreet83 woo! Bikes in. picking it up tmrw! I feel for everyone having to wait for the tw right now. i got so lucky to get my name on one that became available.
You have 2 TWs that are in mint condition. The '23 is not an upgrade in any way, right down to the graphics. You should get your deposit back and let someone on the list experience the joy of a new bike instead of having to buy used in the over priced market.
That is a fair point! I am not trying to take that experience from anyone. Someone asked me if I would make a video on how to go through the buying process and I figured why not. I am only trying to be helpful and I don't have anything against either of my bikes.
Thanks for all the videos and info. If you’re interested in selling my coworker has been looking. I also totally saw you In Payson about 2 weeks ago eating. I wanted to come say HI but my wife said that would be rude.
I usually pick up a bike as close to stock as I can. Most people (not you lol) don't have a clue what their doing when installing parts or making modifications and don't have and end goal in mind for the bike, so it ends up being a Frankenstein of sorts. Now... with that in mind, I find when selling the bike a year or two later that people like when they have some things some to it already. I make extra $ off everything I build and sell. Not a ton, but I always turn a small profit to go into the next project.
Take it off and sell it as OEM - some people get hanky when its not stock, and you paid for that bling brother =) Gratz and much luck with the new Dub!
I’ve got my name on the list for a ‘23 TW. I’m not expecting it to come in until this winter, but maybe things have changed? Sounds like there could be a longer delay? Oh well, hopefully I’ll be riding it next spring.
Hi Matt , when I traded my TW in for my KLR ,the dealer didn't give me anything for all the added stuff. I guess if I were buying your bike , I would pay extra for the goodies . I guess ,if you ask a high enough price to cover the extras , leave them on . Happy trails Matt.
Hey Michael! Yeah, I agree that the dealership wouldn't give anything extra for the add ons. I think the majority of things that I have done to the bike are things that I see most people wanting for the TW so I think if I were to sell it with everything on there I'd be okay. How are you liking the KLR?!?
Hi Matt, the KLR is going good. Haven't really been off road with it yet , other then my backyard. With the high gas prices, I've mainly just use it for going to work. Cheaper. It's nice bike for the money, way cheaper then my Goldwing. Ride safe Matt.
Might as well keep the order in, and sell the new one over list when it comes in. Make a few bucks (not gouging) for your long term investment of the deposit. Someone will be glad to pay for the convenience of not having to wait.
I would sell bone stock since they fit the new model, buyers likely don't like mods on a purchase, except maybe a windshield or engine guards, thanks for the video
*With rare exceptions Mat, you don't recoup the upgrades in the sale price. If you kept the stock stuff I would swap it all out, except for maybe that which was a pain to install, or by removing might leave a blemish. Its like boats and cars and even guns, the upgrades lose 20-70% of the value on resale. Also the buyer might wonder with the upgrades for performance or lets say outback capability, how hard did you wind up riding the bike. MY humble opinion, take it back to stock.*
My guess is that you'd get 50 cents on the dollar for the mods that people want and nothing for the mods that people don't want. Every buyer is different though.
Well there are a couple of reasons. IF I can afford it I have two kids that can ride them as well and they want one. So, depending on when they come out I might have three since there are 4 of us that can ride them. Secondly, I want to stay as relevant as I can with the TW. Now, even though it is the same bike, sometimes there are some quirks for certain years. The 2006 is essentially the same bike but the heads were tweaked just a bit and had a slight oil seeping.
@@MOBStreet83 is this bike similar to a dr650 in the way that it needs upgrades right away? My plan is to normally use this around town and in really rough terrain
Good Question Robert! I am trying to help show the buying process from a dealer. I know that this won't be exact for every dealer and that I have one that I work well with. I don't have anything against the bikes I have now, just trying to be helpful is all. Thanks for asking!!
@@MOBStreet83 I wish I had half your enthusiasm. I've been looking at these bikes online for half a year now and really want one. Every time I call the dealership three or four of them just went out the door they say. I have yet to catch one there that I can sit on. What would be great if you could find somebody who's like 6 ft 3 and 250 lb to sit on one so we can see what he thinks about the bike. Thanks for the entertainment. Some advice for you if you will consider it... don't beat this horse til it's dead. I know people like the t-dub but there is really a lot of videos on it and mostly redundant. I haven't watched all your videos but maybe put in there like how to change the back tire or adjust the brakes or detailed aspects of the bike. Maybe best places to buy parts online or best spots to strap it down when hauling it etc. Thanks for reading
@@roberthathon4966 Thanks for taking the time to reply! I have done a video on where to find parts and here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/XiS73iJB1S8/v-deo.html There are a lot of videos out there now on the TW but when I started, there wasn't. I have more than 100 videos on the bike and have been trying to show what the TW can do that most folks say it can't do. I have a lot of how to videos, aftermarket part install videos, riding videos and more. But, I do appreciate the video idea suggestions and look at what I can do to bring them about. Thanks again!
Take your parts off and put them on the new 1. You will waste too much time sourcing new parts and buying. Its not worth the hassle. You shouldn't have any trouble selling without the mods. People alway's want something for nothing , however don't undervalue your time and effort. I'm sounding harsh I know, But Mods imply heavy use. If your bike is clean & std looking without too many miles that can be a plus also. Good luck mate.
People say accessories don’t add value. That’s just the argument they use to try to get your price down. But think of it this way. If you found the bike you wanted with the accessories you wanted wouldn’t you pay more for that bike? Of course it’s not retail but you don’t typically get retail for your bike either.
@@MOBStreet83 I would also say if you’re getting the same bike and plan on doing the same mods, you will be better off keeping the mods for the next bike
I’d just keep it and get your deposit back. The dealership can’t complain. Not like they will sit on it when it gets there. If you must sell, keep everything that you would buy again anyway and put the stock back on. Keep the hand guards if they are part of upgraded handlebars and you are putting stock back on. Can’t blame you for putting your name in the hat. Keep riding and keep the cameras rolling!
Yeah, I think my name will be on that list for while, which is what I really expected. Yamaha's website states that they won't be shipping the bike until May of 23. So, I have a while to decide. Until then though, I am gonna ride this one as much as I can. I appreciate it!
@@MOBStreet83 I found one man. I got 1999 TW200. 2500 miles and I paid $1400. I have had it for a week and I replaced everything already, it's like brand new now. Let's go riding. lol
Personally I would just lose my deposit and keep what you’ve got. If the new ones the exact same thing you’re just gonna lose money on it. I just don’t see the point in buying a new one it’s gonna be exactly like what you’ve got, maybe the dealer will give you credit and you can buy some parts or some tires or helmets with it but you’re probably gonna lose way more than your deposit trying to sell your old one and then you’re gonna have to buy new accessories to upgrade possibly, it’s kind of silly to pay a ton of money just to get a 3 on the frame instead of a 1.
Those are some good points for sure. But, folks are selling used ones for more than the new bikes are costing. I don't mind waiting to see what it'll be. Plus, I have two kids who are riding them now as well so having another one wouldn't really hurt anything.
That is also a good idea. I am not in any hurry to get rid of them at all, but I also want to make sure that my TW's are staying current so if their are any quirks or weird things with it I can let folks know. Kinda like how the 2006's had slightly different machined heads and the valve cover would leak slightly.....stuff like that.
@@MOBStreet83 you know your bikes already, we all know quality is failing from every manufacturer you can only skimp on labor and materials so much so quality takes the main hit. Why take a dice roll with a new bike? Save up so if they ever do update it you can get onboard at the jump with less debt.
That's the truth right there! I have seen in some of the TW pages that folks have had theirs stolen. Garage kept.........or front room kept either way works!
@@MOBStreet83 none. There’s an ad on Craigslist for a guy wanting to buy one! I been looking hard for a solid 6 months. Washington dealers won’t sell to me either being out of state! They won’t see any money from aftermarket parts or service from us. Keep me in mind when yours comes up for sale! Hope your wait is short!!
That is crazy! With that thought I wouldn't give them any service or aftermarket parts sales. When I worked at Harley we had a lot of folks from out of state buying bikes from us. If someone likes the dealer they will bring the bike back for the service and parts....I say that because I saw that working at the dealership.
As a buyer I think the mods add value it’s less that someone else has to do. I just put the pro taper handlebars on and it was a pain in the ass on my 2022 for me. I got raped at the dealership too for supply and demand 7500 otd
I can understand that side of it for sure! I know that what should be simple to swap out 99% of the time it isn't that simple. That happened to me with my Tusk bars I installed as well. It is still hard for me to believe that the TW's are costing that much at a dealership. Did they show you what all of that money was going to?
@@MOBStreet83 yeah they jacked up dealer fees because the economy. I had no choice or just don’t get one. They sell fast someone called while i was there offered me $500 if I would not buy it
It would definitely be a game changer for a lot of folks.....I can't tell you how many have said they would buy one right now if it were fuel injected. But, the carb setup has been working pretty well for me so far.
We all know that you love the TW 200 we all know that you have 2 Tw's and one on order. How about more videos on trail riding and riding in general. Getting tired of you just talking to us anymore. Show us some action! Also depends on how good the dealer is in connection with the manufacturer. I have already known what you told us for a month and a 1/2 now. And why would you get a loan on another bike And you're gonna have probably a higher interest rate and start interest all over again.
Hey Shawn, I appreciate your comment. Someone had asked me if I could show the buying process on the TW and that is what I am trying to do. I have more videos coming and they aren't this style. Everything you said here makes perfect sense.

Take off what you want to keep. If there’s something you’re thinking about changing up anyways just leave it on the bike.
Simple and sound logic!! Thanks Bobby!
Keep the faith, it will show up soon!!!😎👍🏼👍🏼
Not losing faith, just gotta figure out how to have the patience! 😂
@@MOBStreet83 You don't need to buy the bike to show the process, Matt.
@@hazcat640 but he does need it for business purposes if he plans on being the TW king
Thanks for all the videos and info. If you’re interested in selling my coworker has been looking. I also totally saw you In Payson about 2 weeks ago eating. I wanted to come say HI but my wife said that would be rude.
😂 Next time come say hi!! Was that at Chubby's?
I usually pick up a bike as close to stock as I can. Most people (not you lol) don't have a clue what their doing when installing parts or making modifications and don't have and end goal in mind for the bike, so it ends up being a Frankenstein of sorts. Now... with that in mind, I find when selling the bike a year or two later that people like when they have some things some to it already.
I make extra $ off everything I build and sell. Not a ton, but I always turn a small profit to go into the next project.
I am like you when buying a bike. I think most, not all, the mods that I have done have been ones that most TW folks have wanted on the bike.
Do we get the 2023 for the price of the 2021
I wish that were the case. Myb2021 was $500 more than my 19' and now with shipping charges and fuel cost I doubt it.
Take it off and sell it as OEM - some people get hanky when its not stock, and you paid for that bling brother =)
Gratz and much luck with the new Dub!
Good point Julian! Thanks for watching and for the comment, I appreciate it!
I have always heard that aftermarket parts do not increase the resale value. You are better off just taking them off and selling them by themselves.
Hey Tommy! That seems to be what everyone is telling me. That just might end up being what I do.
@@MOBStreet83 Admittedly I don't have any experience in this area, though. So I'd take my advice with a grain of salt.
I’ve got my name on the list for a ‘23 TW. I’m not expecting it to come in until this winter, but maybe things have changed? Sounds like there could be a longer delay? Oh well, hopefully I’ll be riding it next spring.
I really do hope they come in sooner than what I have heard.....but I guess time will tell.
@@michaelbayliss1794 Sweet! Glad to hear it!
Might as well keep the order in, and sell the new one over list when it comes in. Make a few bucks (not gouging) for your long term investment of the deposit. Someone will be glad to pay for the convenience of not having to wait.
Hey Gene! I don't know if the bike will ever come in! 🤣
Also almost every dealer gets their New Year models in September. So I don't know why they're telling you that they don't know.
I'm hoping they show up in September!
Honestly I'd just start fresh I love that feeling 😁
That's a good point! Buying a new bike is a lot of fun.
@@MOBStreet83
👉🏼😎👉🏼 BINGO!
I think I would keep what I had. But if I sold one then I would keep the mods to put on the new one.
That makes sense.....actually the foot pegs for these are one off's and aren't even available yet! Those would be staying with me for sure!
I would sell bone stock since they fit the new model, buyers likely don't like mods on a purchase, except maybe a windshield or engine guards, thanks for the video
Valid point! Thanks Orlando!
Thabjs Gailm! I appreciate the comment and advice!
My guess is that you'd get 50 cents on the dollar for the mods that people want and nothing for the mods that people don't want. Every buyer is different though.
I think you're right Kurt.....and that is if they want those mods at all.
Ok, I’m confused. If it’s going to be the exact same bike why are you selling the old one for a new one??
Well there are a couple of reasons. IF I can afford it I have two kids that can ride them as well and they want one. So, depending on when they come out I might have three since there are 4 of us that can ride them. Secondly, I want to stay as relevant as I can with the TW. Now, even though it is the same bike, sometimes there are some quirks for certain years. The 2006 is essentially the same bike but the heads were tweaked just a bit and had a slight oil seeping.
You should just cancel the order and keep your bike 👍
That thought is starting to sound like solid advice.
@@MOBStreet83 You know and trust yours, and love it 👍
Just got my name down too
Hopefully yours shows up soon!!
@@MOBStreet83 I can’t wait 😝
@@MOBStreet83 is this bike similar to a dr650 in the way that it needs upgrades right away? My plan is to normally use this around town and in really rough terrain
Why spend your money on the new one?
I like old school no mic no fancy stuff just like the TW200. You will be waiting a while for the 2023. Your bike might even be a '24 🤣🤣🤣
I think it might be the 2024 model before we see them!
All the dealers I have dealt with will not give you anything for the extras on your bike. Good luck!
Yeah, I know that is the case with the dealers as well. But, I think I would rather sell it than trade it in towards a new one.
Not harsh at all! That is something I think a lot of folks don't really understand. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
People say accessories don’t add value. That’s just the argument they use to try to get your price down. But think of it this way. If you found the bike you wanted with the accessories you wanted wouldn’t you pay more for that bike? Of course it’s not retail but you don’t typically get retail for your bike either.
That's true too! I think most of the mods that I have made to the bike have been mods that most folks have wanted or recommended done.
@@MOBStreet83 I would also say if you’re getting the same bike and plan on doing the same mods, you will be better off keeping the mods for the next bike
That's a really solid point as well! Save money on products I've already tested and proven.
Matt, be a good neighbor and keep the 2021 for your neighbor to ride.
Hey Marty!! My neighbors had them and both of them sold theirs! I will always have two of them though in case a friend wants to ride.
I appreciate it!
i want to bye it
I'll let everyone know when and if it goes up for sale!
I wouldn't get a new one at all. Save your money.
I would ask for my deposit back because I already have the exact same bike.
Hey Mike! Very fair point.
I waited six months for my 2022… Now I’m just worried about someone stealing it!
That's the truth right there! I have seen in some of the TW pages that folks have had theirs stolen. Garage kept.........or front room kept either way works!
Put it beside your bed
@@Genstone24 I think my wife would rather be put my bed in the garage! 🤣
@@MOBStreet83 That works too! 😉
I can’t even order one. Yamaha isn’t sending any to Alaska ! ZERO idea when dealers will be taking money for them.
Seriously?!? That is the first that I have heard of that! Have you seen any used ones up there for sale?
They sell fast someone called while i was there offered me $500 if I would not buy it
@@donalddegaetano9502 That is crazy!!
Selling it would be up to my wife after I am dead.
I'd ONLY be selling it to pay for the new one. 😂
Value of the bike is sans accessories. I'd keep them for new bike.
Understood! I think I am leaning that way right now.
Keep all the add-ons they don't increase the value at all. Everybody has different idea of the changes they would make, so they may not want them
Will do! Solid advice on that one!
Every time you buy you pay taxes, registration fees, and dealer fees. You'll never get that back. Keep the 2021. Forget the 2023.
Those are all great points Jeff. I am not sure what will happen just yet.
You already have two 200 Yamaha's. Get your deposit back, and get a 300 Honda.
The Honda 300 hasn't crossed my mind......
Check out "Itchy Boots" season 6, Equador to Alaska, on a CRF300L Rally ... hth
Fuel injection on a TW? That won't ever happen.
It would definitely be a game changer for a lot of folks.....I can't tell you how many have said they would buy one right now if it were fuel injected. But, the carb setup has been working pretty well for me so far.
Why would you pay more money to buy the same bike back? Doesn’t even make financial sense. Just my opinion
I am grateful for the comment and you're right, it doesn't sound like it makes sense at all. I'm just trying to help show the buying process.
At least for me, any bike that is stock holds more value than something that has been molested by God knows who.
Yeah, there is some real comfort in buying a used stock machine
🤟🖤🤟
Thanks Atilla!
That cargo rack 100% increases the value of the bike. Just saying.
I agree with you! That rack is perfect for the TW!

Thanks Chris! I gotta work harder to get that + symbol next go round.

what
We all know that you love the TW 200 we all know that you have 2 Tw's and one on order.
