That was me in the red shorts lmao. That was a good day. Keep fishing.
I have only fished there one time in the daytime too many boats going through were I toss my lines. I have caught some decent catfish on the other side of the bridges over near the pier by the dog park. You have to a lot of times get there in the daytime to get a spot because there are always freakin crappie fisherman there.
Right now that big area by the Nautical I guess from what I heard is fenced off and I have heard from others that were kicked out of that area just a few weeks ago. They don't check at night though.
Great Fish.
Thanks, I heard there are 30lb+ monsters there, haven't caught one yet though.
Great video! We made our first trip to Mendota in 2021 and will be returning this May. Took a bit to get the hang of how the cats in that lake behave, but once we did we caught some nice ones.
I've caught decent size cats from most all the parks on the lake, they are everywhere in the summer.
@@ancientfishing if you're interested, I'd love to shoot a collab video when we're up there in May. We bring the boat and hit some phenomenal catfish spots thst aren't readily accessible from the bank.
@@TheWeekendAngler sure,I'd be up for that sometime. I had a big flathead throw my hook just a few hours ago at lake columbia
I love fishing this spot, it was nice meeting you in middleton WI last week!
Nice meeting you too
Nice catch homie! Was that caught with cut bait from the drum?
Yeah, the drum took a lot of effort to cut with scissors though.
@@ancientfishing haha good catch though
I actually cut up fish at home because in the city I don't carry knives around too many annoying people. So all I have is some scissors and I use to have a razor blade in a little metal sheath but got serrated scissors for cutting my braided line.
Nice catch and video! I do pretty good at that spot with cut pieces of bluegill or chicken liver. That might help out with the bite next time you visit. Keep up with the hard work and tight lines!
I actually tried a small live bluegill for flathead later in the day but nothing bit it. I like Chicken Liver, I mainly don't use it that much because it tends to fall off the hook. The gills there are harder to catch than regular gills.
@@ancientfishing I have a trick for using liver. I buy a cheap spool of thin sewing thread and use it to wrap my liver with it. Hook your liver and just do multiple wraps around the liver (usually 10-15 wraps). When it's secured enough, with one hand hold on to the the thread firmly and pull the spool of thread. The thread should snap off so no need for cutting. Hope this helps. Good luck, tight lines and stay dry.
💪🏾🤘🏾
Can you tell me why you are using a spinning reel on a casting rod? Also what in tarnation is a gatto fish? Also that was a snapping turtle.
Oh never mind I thought that was a snapping turtle
I mix and match parts all the time. As long as it catches fish, it doesn’t matter. All I really lose with the spinning reel on a casting rod is some casting distance.
Gato means cat. Catfish is what he is saying
Guessing the audio cut out and you had to record a commentary?
Yeah, the Gopro external mic connection sometimes does that for some reason.
@@ancientfishing I like how you still acted it out in the recorded commentary.
Where is this?
Between county road m and the railroad bridge on the North side of Mendota.
Your overuse of the term "gato fish" gets a tad stale. Just say'n.
it's similar to smothering a fire.
I mostly just use it in place of Catfish since its what I call them. But I understand.
Count how many times he repeats the word gato. And wonder why lol
