- Breakfast: the most important meal of the day! In the offseason when I'm trying to maximize caloric intake, I look to foods that are nutrient dense that also digest well. Here is a meal that I oftentimes have for breakfast in the offseason.

The best part about Evan's speaking is the way he says 'from what I understand' - he doesnt preach like hes the expert on everything and hes humble with his knowledge

People often think that bodybuilders are just dumb roid freaks, but in fact many of them are some of the most intelligent people you will ever meet, especially when it comes to science and health. Evan is much more knowledgeable about nutrition than many professionals in the field, such as registered dieticians. I especially appreciate his focus on digestibility, which many nutritionists overlook. They will just give a generic recommendation on fruits, veggies, protein, etc. without thinking about how your body feels as each of those foods are digested, or in combination. Very useful info in these videos, and not just for those of us into bodybuilding.

How the fuck is a bodybuilder going to build muscle with 16-20 hours of no food? You'll never see any of pros and big bodybuilders do IF and not lose mass.
I've tried IF before, The warrior diet, leangains, and eat stop eat. I am significantly weaker when I lift without food vs with food in my stomach.

Anthony Tricarico My father's side is full Italian. Growing up, there was always disdain for overly processed/artificially seasoned, prepared etc foods. Food had to be home made and simple. As I got older, I realized the value in this!

fats,cholesterol, and most of the nutrients in eggs are in the yolk. eat whole eggs, not egg whites, carbs are what need to be reduces if dieting not so much fats, at least good healthy fats

You motivated me to clean my diet up, and it has taken care of all my digestion issues. I had a cheat meal on the weekend full of crap and that night and next day my stomach killed me. I now don't even crave bad food and I know what it does to me. Thanks again! Keep it up!

I'm confused, how did you end up at 140 grams of carbs. The only thing you have that is carb dense are the two bagels and last time I checked bagel of that size is 40 grams tops. Am I missing something?

Evan, I love what you’re doing by showing us healthy food. But I have a question, eating like you do, and what you do, how many hours a day are you in the gym, do you take supplements or anything else, and have you tried any Protein powder such as RivalUS ( Rivalus) ? Or does your physique come strictly from healthy eating and hard work in the gym ? I’d love to get the shit off me, meaning fat, and bulk up a bit, lol. Any advice would help me out...just starting out. I’m 5’10”, 270lbs and seeing a dietician...so far down five or so pounds in a week to a week and a half...changed portion sizes and what I eat...so, basically, my goal is to lose the shit, tighten everything up, and bulk up...

Brilliant videos loving the insight to the correct off season diet. Shows that this bro science of dirty bulking is utter bullshit that's going around. Perfect breakfast toasted bagels soft cheese smoked salmon and boiled eggs have been the corner stone of my breakfast on my relaxed cheat day. That's right cheat day not cheat meal. Mine is a day because my cheat food is still wholesome cooked homemade food, NO TAKEAWAYS or MC DONALDS!!! So I give myself a day of relaxed eating, bread, jacket potatoes, even toad in the whole with turkey sausages. I still keep the sugars low, just wholesome food, oh and cornflakes. Anyway enough messing about just want to say love the videos keep them going please mate.

I love kale. All veggies in general. Growing up in a family where money was tight at times my grandma would stretch protein by adding slot of veggies. Grew up to love them more than fruit.
I used to be big into bodybuilding, i'm skinny but can power down food. I walk, and swim alot. I'm 61yrs old and feel good. I watch all of your videos which are helpful. Do you have to use weights to gain size?
The lox are my favorite the only downfall with anything smoked, turkey,fish,ham, is the high sodium

Compare that meal to, say, bad fats and you get the gist of how good fats are good for you.
Research the European diet and see how it is one of the best diets ever.
Nutrition is a big deal for everyone and shows how cooking for yourself and not relying on fast food is way better.
People will argue about "I haven't got enough time". Rubbish!!! Make time, get your head out of your iphone and cook. Text messages, etc can wait.

I think nitrosamines can be made from nitrates in your body, and the amines in meat (and many other foods ofc), fuel this process. Not 100% sure, but I think that's about right.
Anti oxidants might help this a little, another bonus of the kale salad.
Oh and a good point about the smoking and carcinogenic effect. I will try to look that up.

Hey Evan this was a great video, I think I'll look more into the smoked salmon that can be a quick addition to a meal. I know you touched on that these are high quality fats, but is there a chance that the omega 6 - 3 ratios in super market eggs could be way out of proportion compared to pastured eggs? Layne Norton recently has done a video criticizing clean eating and promoting flexible dieting. Layne just focuses on macro nutrients, and could care less about processed vegetable oils or sugars, artificial dyes and colors. It is just insane how narrow his perspective is.

You should try boiling collard greens then dressing it with lemon, if you can based on your diet, you can drizzle a splash of extra olive oil, if not, no problem. . It's delicious and great as you know and an alternative to Kale. The food looks fabulous.
