After watching this video, I feel way safer knowing the IAF has 260 of there fantastic fierce metal birds in service. The Sukhoi Flanker variants are absolutely phenomenal fighter aircrafts out there. It's maneuverability is one of the best weapons in combat. The pilots in there aircraft are well trained. They must be so lucky and fortunate to get to fly these planes !!!

watching this video makes me draw the inference that people don't understand cobra maneuver. in this video the planes are gaining altitude/energy in cobra you purposely dump your energy.

@@adityadhawan2239 That wasn’t the cobra my friend... when performing Cobra the aircraft has 0 speed and in this case the aircraft still climbed with speed... so it was something like sharp nose up plus roll...

It bleeds an absurd amount of energy, leaving the flanker extremely vulnerable to a FOX-2 shot, not only because it's so slow, but also because it's now going to need to go into full AB to recover, making it's heat signature WAYYYY larger.
Also, because it's so slow, the SU-30 being a very large target, gives the JF-17 a brilliant gun solution as well.
Also, if the JF-17 isn't at the moment in the right position for either one of those, it would ditch into the rate fight, where A. the JF-17 is pretty good, and B. it is important for a jet to be at its correct rate-speeds to be competitive. Now, the Flanker which is at EXTREMELY low energy state (mainly because low speed) is a sitting duck in this kind of fight.
This, is why for the most part, the COBRA isn't used in a dogfight unless the pilot is 100% sure that pulling one would guarantee him/her a kill, because if it doesn't, the flanker would now be in an extremely disadvantageous position. So, the cobra is usually only used to make up for missing angles in order to avail a FOX-2 or gun solution. So, the full COBRA maneuver which we are all used to seeing where the plane pitches up so quickly so far up and loses all it's speed is usually only reserved for airshows.
I do believe though that there is one legitimate and honestly perfect use for the cobra in combat - to buy the pilot just those couple extra seconds to eject before they hit the ground, or to avoid the ground completely, if possible.
