What makes a great fighter is the ability to take what you can from any martial art form and make it work for you. If you can't make it work and adapt it into yourself then you don't use it. MMA is an interesting concept because when it started out, it looked like a toughman contest. Mostly big guys throwing haymakers. Now it's people from all over the world integrating different martial arts together to make an art form.
i believe like bruce lee does... he said "im not afraid of a person who knows 10000 techniques...but im afraid of a person who practices a single techinque 10000 times." so it doesnt matter how many martial arts styles we know.. practice makes man perfect..
i Recommend Both - Wing Chun is a Neutral Martial Art - That Uses Both "Defense & Attack" at the same time in Combat & Aikido is a Martial Art Of Maneuver & Manipulation - The Moral Of Aikido Is To Use Your Opponent's Greatest Strengths as His/Her Ultimate Weakness (you also need Lots of Flexibility) Keep In Mind Knowing Both Types Of Martial Arts Will Be a Overkill Combo (if you ever make it 2 Black Belt in either you will be registered under a Bare-Fist Lethality License as well)
These technics are very important for every human being to protect himsel ada others needed help so i like it so much ,every time ,i think how will get opportunity for stadying reel wing chun.
@forwardintent care to share with us any footage of those 100 duels? surely after so many duels, there must be some footage of these fabulous fights? @andy59tube what makes you think i even train martial arts? I'm just asking a simple question? how many real fights do you think this guy has been in? what makes him qualified to demonstrate or teach a martial art if he has never been in a real fight? does he even spar with his students?
@aikidoisthebombyeah oh and i LEarned about it from ip man, i used to be interested in aikido, i dont fight and never have and it might be siLLy to go after these cause i thought they Looked cooL in movies but if i ever did get in a fight, weLL i am kinda insecure that i wouLd not be abLe to controL a fight or even stand up for myseLF, do you think i shouLD train under someone for aikido or wing chun?
You have a better chance of manipulating the whole arm at the wrist in this application because the wrist is the furtherest joint he can touch from the body due to the fact that he threw a punch. So he guides the wrist down while steping away from and blocking the second punch at the same time. This works best when the opponent is tense which turns the arm into a lever that can influence the whole body posture. Take notice the block performed looks kinda like a hard karate block.
I trained WC at a school taught by a master whos teacher was WSL. Wing Chun is a slow process, what poeple dont understand is that wing chung is not about force, but about being as simple as possible. It is very effective, but you cant try something once and expect to be an expert, you need a good teacher and much practice time.
@aikidoisthebombyeah one of these students includes the famous martial artist Bruce Lee. The reason why u don't see this type of martial arts often is because there are so many fighting styles out there. Keep in the mind the odds of you finding a specific fighting style anywhere u go is very small. You can't just say a fighting style is useless and fake just because u don't see it out there in the real world where YOU LIVE. I know this argument is 3 months old but I just had to tell you this now
"if You Pour Water Into a Cup, It Becomes The Cup - Become Water My Friend" was the Number#1 Used By Bruce Lee and Also The Founder And Creator of "Wing Chun" Master & Sifu "IP Man" Was Bruce Lee's Teacher Wing Chun is a Form That If You Know It then thats all you need 2 get by in life - unless your a Martial Arts Scholer Then in that case Gotta Learn Them All (lol)
Ip Man did not create Wing chun. Wing Chun was created by an unkown Shaolin female Monk who taught the style to her disciple Wing Chun after whom the style came to be known.
Yea @80kungfu,I have no one either,I've had to simply use the edge of the walls n practice...or shadow box n practice the techniques in the air..its way better with some help tho
well this is when you get so advanced to the point that doing the form is as easy as walking. I think a form should embody all the elements in the sense of behaving accordingly depending on the situation, even water is not always liquid, it could be solid or a gas, I hope that my words were like light in the darkness.
who said you don't have to master that art? hes saying that, after you learn one art, move on to the next. don't just stop at one because you're limiting yourself to that one martial art.
@aikidoisthebombyeah UA-cam search Wing Chun vs Praying Mantis you will find an old black and white video of WSL fighting. However, this video of it is much shorter than the original, by about 3 minutes, so it's only almost a screenshot of it. It is probably the only footage you will find, since obviously of the lack of available of media recording devices of the day, and the fact if any footage was taken, it was done so a long time ago and maybe lost.
Yea I have same problem, no one to practise with. My girlfriend does karate and dont have time and I would like to practise with one who knows about wt and knows how to do it. It's annoying, should get dummy, expect the price is always so high. I love this art!
@aikidoisthebombyeah hey, i know you guys are argueing about it now, so i thought i shouLd just have it cLeared up for me, so you guys are saying that the rear paLm thing is bogus right?
Thanks for sharing the videos. would you mind sharing where I can purchase this video? I am currently training under Atlantic Warriors Wing Chun, and would love to buy a copy of this. Thanks,
True, but street fights usually take like 5seconds, 90% of the time its a dumbass throwing haymakers, which wing chun comes in useful with its centerline attacks. But good point you made there, i´d say if u compete in tournaments alot, learning alot of styles and adding it to ur arsenal would be a great thing.
the greatest fighter in the world is : A:the most admired fighter. B:the fighter that can win all fights. C:the fighter that is a great human being. D:there is no greatest fighter.
@aikidoisthebombyeah and also the style that u utilize or train does not matter. it's all about just you which means there's no best fighting style out there and there are no fighting styles that are better than others. It depends on how you yourself utilize your style.
guys guys its not about style its how good you are at whatever you do. have a mma fighter with one year experience vs a very experienced master in any style, who obviously wins? same concept vice versa.
It is not a strike, but is a sucking backward motion to draw the opponent's towards you while you strike (punch) with the other hand. It is as if you are pulling something with a rope towards you at an angle, breaking his balance and then strike as it comes (doubling the power of the strike). I hope it helps.
Aikido can be useful, boxing can be useful, wing chun, muay thai, kickboxing, greco roman wrestling. Take a peice of each, and the more you take from, the more your arsenal grows so to speak. If you limit yourself to two or three styles, then you are limited. If you open yourself to more then styles, then you allow yourself room to grow, and your martial art form to grow. Like a great fighter once said, "if you pour water into a cup, it becomes the cup...be water my friend."
@aikidoisthebombyeah clearly technique is more important than just straight out power. If u have a lot of strrength that's great! good for u but if u can never land a blow on the guy because he blocks or dodges and counter attacks then u can't do jack.
The reason why there are no WC/Aikido ppl in the UFC is because they aren't trained "fighters", they are martial artists. Fighting is a separate skill in itself that goes hand in hand with martial arts. A WC master will probably get dominated by a UFC fighter due to lack of conditioning, strength, or grappling skills, despite vastly superior striking skills. But, if these UFC fighters had half the skills that these WC/Karate masters have they would be unstoppable. Like Anderson Silva or GSP.
@aikidoisthebombyeah It is also known that he fought in over 60 illegal underground matches, and won pretty much every single one. Also note that he 'tapped' the mans balls, regardless of power, it will make the guy let go
@aikidoisthebombyeah I'm not saying Wing Chun is useless if you are fighting with that style. I'm saying that people shouldn't be using it as a threat like going around to people on the street beating them up and mugging them. It's self defence meaning you do not trigger the fight and throw the first punch. The UFC it's your choice to join and fight other people for fame, glory, money, ... etc. But most martial arts agree that it's better to use it as a self defence and not for vengeance.
You dont always have too block and counter which is what i see a lot of here if someone is being aggressive towards you and occupy your space and you feel you're an immense Danger you can always go preemptive
@THEpillows100 well its because many traditional WC ppl dont. Your group happens to do them. Im addressing all traditional arts that are frowned upon today due to MMA (WC,karate, aikido). But Im explaining why they arent in the UFC. To compete in the UFC your level of conditioning, grappling and strength needs to be on par with theirs. And while there WC ppl who adapt these things, they havent done so to the extent to compete in the UFC because their aim isnt to be pro fighters.
it's because Wing Chun Masters - Are Practically Gods of Control - People With The Greatest Skill Have No need for Boasting Or Pride - and not everything on TV today Has Good Moral to it Anyway Style and Adversity are Key To Being a Great Fighter And Or Martial Artists (Master These Both and Then You have The Right To Truly Call Yourself a Master)
@aikidoisthebombyeah That's because using Wing Chun as a weapon and going into the ufc and fighting is not it's intended purpose. Even Ip Chun describes it as more as a health regime and self defence. Many people believe that fighting is never the answer which is why most martial arts are self defence related and not used just to beat people on the streets.
Small joint manipulation isn't allowed in MMA. That's the main reason you won't see Aikido in the UFC. Aikido came from Aiki-Jujutsu which is the source of jiu-jutsu. BJJ is very prevelent in the UFC. Also some of the edge that these traditional martial arts have are lost in an MMA setting because they break the rules. And yes anyone who doesn't train in grappling is going to have a hard time in a grappling situation.
In real fight it won't work. it's just a demonstration ,so well coordinated in slow motion,no one is going to fight in that way,and if did, would badly be beaten. Some of move here won't inflict any harm to opponent.
unless one has 3 arms and the other has 6 feet it´s not about "style". It´s about anatomy, physics, brains, will and spirit. Therefor one should live eat sleep and breath motion - and truely try to figure out who he is so he can express himself physicaly in an (self-)honest way... instead of limiting himself to a box called "style". I understand your point, though. One has to be serious in what he does - but following limitations can impossible be serious. No offense. I´m only a searcher myself
This video changed my life
Ive been practicing for about 8 years
8 years?..Should only take 3-5 years?
These videos are real gold for wing chun. i loved them.

@@Idcanymore510 Depends what lineage you listen to. I was taught that version in the Tsui Seung Tin lineage. History is murky at best.
I wish I could make sounds like that when I reach for something 🤣
maybe 70 style, but a good breakdown
"70s style" is a good thing.
My right ear is enjoying this
Yea @80kungfu,I have no one either,I've had to simply use the edge of the walls n practice...or shadow box n practice the techniques in the air..its way better with some help tho

i cannot imagine someone who knows wing chun to enter the MMA. This would be scary and would break all laws.
XD
Anderson Silva?
Scary for the Wing Chun guys for sure
If anyone tried this shit in the cage they would be utterly destroyed
@aikidoisthebombyeah hey, i know you guys are argueing about it now, so i thought i shouLd just have it cLeared up for me, so you guys are saying that the rear paLm thing is bogus right?
Thanks for teaching us wing chung technecius
Exactly. It takes the form of what YOU pour it into. So too, should your martial arts take the form of what YOU pour it into.
@aikidoisthebombyeah
some what yes. They have their reasons. here's a question 4 u: why is that no aikido masters join ufc?
Thanks for sharing the videos. would you mind sharing where I can purchase this video? I am currently training under Atlantic Warriors Wing Chun, and would love to buy a copy of this.

It's not about the style, a style is just a name. Just as Bruce Lee said.
Anybody recognize the music used in the video. Sounds like jazz fusion of the '70s or '80s'.
those sound effects were not added after recording.
somebody please provide me with a link to order this video

Wrong : if you put water in the cup ,it does not become the cup....
......... it only take the form of the inside of the cup
