"I believe no single style is superior. It's just that the people who practice them have different skill levels. Competitions can help uncover our weakness and lead us to a path of self-discovery... for our true enemies are but ourselves."
Huo Yuanjia to Tanaka in "Fearless". Catches it exactly.

@@CoranceLChandler 1) it's a quote from one of Jet Li's movies. 2) it says that no single style is superior. It says nothing about efficiency. Continued practice will lead to greater efficiency. Do continue your practice. You will come to understand.

THis is just what I learnt off my old Wing Chun teacher (Sifu Ian Protheroe), really usable immediately, and great techniques. If you just practiced what you saw in this 9min clip for a year, you would have enough Wing Chun to protect yourself at least!! Fights only last about 10 seconds, and once your opponent realizes you can stop his king hits,,,they will back off.

You're 100% correct! Funny story - I've studied since I was 8 years old - first Karate, boxing, TKD and then Lotus Kung Fu. When I was about 24 I started bodybuilding - I looked like a pro body builder at 240, 5% body fat at best shape.
Then I started training in Kung Fu again. Holy F@#$, I was SOOOO slow! And even though I was physically so much stronger (benching about 460) my punches had no snap or power!
Now, 10 years later I'm down to 212 and I got that power and speed back!

It todays romanizations two syllable given names are either hyphenated or written together. In mandarin Huang Chunliang, in cantonese Wong Shun-leung or Shun-Leung. His last name is Wong, his first name Shun-Leung. A hyphen will erase any confusion.

yes ... the technique is the last and least important in Wing Chun. the first are the principles:1)if the road is free advances.2)if the road is occupied, seeks contact.3)if the force is higher, yields. 4)if the enemy retreats, follow it. is extremely important in the wing chun remove the idea of wanting to hit the enemy. you only have to think to cover the center line and and occupy it.you're part of everything around you.this is the most important in Wing Chun, and only learn with a good master

@steven10462 Depends what you mean "can go with". I love Wing Chun because it is so practical. I train boxing for fitness but WC for the art. I think you can practice WC because of its simplicity in application, when you fight you will do what comes natural. WC looks boring comapared to some other flashy styles like Capoeira but is very effective when understood.

Like the basics of WC shown in these videos split into parts here these are really helpful. I know a small amount of wing chun in general and I also do tkd and karate. I like how done here agree that there is no better style every one is equally as good and useful and enjoying the fact of not gearing the usual mines is better then yours arguement

@Abgef after reading all of your post it seems quite interesting that you say these thing..but since you seem to be such an "expert" on fighting have you 1. ever fought a true Wing Chun Practitioner? and 2. If you have what was your experience? Being a practitioner of Choy Li Fut, Wing Chun, and Wushu for years I have been in a few fights against people who just tried to "pummel" me and using these techniques at full speed ended the "altercation" quite fast with little to no effort..just sayin

My sensei(dad) told me that if you were in a "fight" always find the the weak points. Also it's also catching up your opponent's move, and after you caught up w/ your opponent's move, you strike. Just an FYI. ;)

Each fighting style is unique and different, like Marcus said depends on practioner.

Like to see him take on an MMA fighter. He seems to be demonstrating fighting another Wing Chun fighter.

Just look at Anthony Ferguson or Anderson Silva. They use it in their fights.
