This is very important footage to everyone who has an interest in Wing Chun. In many other styles, the style was either too ancient or circumstances prevented their greatest masters being filmed. It's fortunate that we have this record of one of the true legends of Chinese Martial Arts. It's also inspirational to consider that he passed away a week after this footage was taken.
thank you very much for sharing,,, My dad is a huge Bruce Lee and Yip Man fan and practiced Wing Chun for years. I grew up watching Bruce Lee and have a big respect for Yip Man and Wing Chun, I hope to become a pupil and learn.
叶问宗师, 谢谢您! 给我们大家带来了这个珍贵及有价值的影片,保留到了现在。看了那么多的影片,这是我看过最珍贵的一个。你所付出的一切,将来一定会打动别人的心。I'm appreciated that what you've done for us, thanks Grandmaster Ip Man!! R.I.P...
i have seen this footage so many time on the internet and youtube in particular...this is the highest quality version i've found...this is amazing. thanks for this treasure. RIP GM Ip Man
Very powerful video watching the Grandmaster perform the Mook Jong was incredible. Such agility, strength given his age and condition. Watching his technique has been giving me insight on my own and gives me motivation to study and train harder.
This is poetic, and somber all at once. The man was so dedicated to martial arts that he did this even though he was close to death. His skills are still very apparent from the video, but it's also apparent he is not well. At about 5:47 it looks like his student stepped forward to catch him in case he fell. Yip Man was truly great.
Fantastic historical document for all Wing Chun practitioners. Thanks for posting. We hope we can entice Sigung back over the Scottish border again sometime soon
It's nice to see the real Wing Chun forms demonstrated by Yip Man... Ip Man's Wing Chun... I like!!! Don't know why some say it's not the real thing!!!
This is great that that so many people from the Yip Man lineage can see how he performed the forms. The thing that strikes me is that Sil Lim Tao has more tension in it at certain points than many "Masters" seem to demonstrate. I can see the entire tense & release of force that generates short range power. So many versions seem to be TOO relaxed all the way through.
Thank you for sharing! I did not know this footage even existed! This is an invaluable piece of footage and will certainly help me in my own study or any other Student practioner on the finer points of Wing-Chun form. Thank you so much! 😊👍
@TheMartialartsJedi maybe best to start with sil lim tao as chum kiu builds on the basic movements in sil lim tao. Thats why its taught first but its up to you.
@wutanSpain understand you meaning but Yip Man believed in progression and as long as you have good reason for changes then it is fine to do so, he told Yip Ching once when asked about changing the form that he could do what he wanted with the form, the truth about whether the changes were good ones would be found out down the generations and if the changes survived then they were good.
can you guys please post a breakdown of the chum kiu and the wooden dummy forms? i would like to put it on writing to remember easier while training and i know almost everyone would also like to.. thanks and more power!

@TheLycan11 Most people sell this footage but it was filmed to keep the standard up not make money so Sam and Ip Man's son's agreed to publish it :-)

A great video. I think everyone who does kungfu Ip Man have to do it as Ip Man in the video, can not make it different.

Amazing.
Is the man standing behind GGM Ip Man from 6:41 his son, Ip Ching ? He looks so like GM Ip Ching
