I miss the banter on AM . howse my radio sound ? Answer ha ha throw it away . LMAO cant wait to get my new radio and hit the airwaves . Thanks for the tech and memories . Mr .R . G .
Radios from a previous era have a soul. Often someone says that it doesn't matter if it's digital or analog. And this is the difference in the feeling of listening comfort. The same and more applies to the sound of keyboard instruments :)
Nice restore Matt. Mine is exactly the same with the clarifier it needs to be redone. When I get ready to send it to you I want it just like this 😉 I also have a parts radio. The power mic will definitely give it punch and for the mobile that ranger sounded nice. I think what others want to see is what and how your adjusting the radio but there are so many videos out here already showing that and recapping. Mike's radio repair is one of them. But then you would have the camera in your face and makes it hard to work. Unless you installed the camera like some other shops do is over head facing straight down onto the radio your workibg on. Five star car stereo has it that way where he shows his work in time lapse or reviews which works out well. Anyways I definitely like the way this one came out. Great job. P.s. @@TheRadioGarage I’m never ashamed to learn , or re-learn ,, I can’t remember if my 148 you refurbished had the clarifier mod or not , remind me again what the unlocking of a clarifier does and what’s the advantage? Unlocked means tx and rx track together when adjusting clarifier. So if your radios drifts off on tx you can realign it with your clarifier control instead of having to open it up. Also finds it helps with stability in some radios
@@TheRadioGarage the question was about a 1983 president Jackson I purchased recently. It had been in storage for quite some time it seems. Also looks to be in very good shape with hardly any use. Nice job on another great old radio, Matt. Ranger SRA-198 all the way. That is why I own 3 of them. "Video Tutoring Apprentice" may be what some viewers seek from you. Not one adjustment. Needs an alignment
I have one like it but mine is an LT with the squelch control

I would expect a radio that has sat for a long time to require some servicing. Caps dry out, meters start sticking, etc
