I commented last night, not sure why my comment didn't post, but I said the roger beep/echo mic looks like a Vanco brand. I found a picture of one online that looks the exact same. The picture I found had 1994 on the label. I will send you an email with some pictures of it. (Check your junk email box because my email starts with my ham call letters and goes to junk email sometimes.) I just bought a Uniden Grant LT and waiting for it to arrive -- hopefully it works! Can't go wrong with the Uniden Grant radios.
Nice radio. If only the manufacturers went back to this style of radio. Another example on how the manufacturers are out of touch with what the consumer wants.
I had a Grant when I first got into radio back in the summer of 94 didn't have the back lit dials, had a channel kit 40 upper and lower. Still have the Wilson 1000 that was hooked to it. Miss that radio to this Day. Cruiser trying to wave a hand. Hello
My favorite radio of all time, including exports. Bought mine from the (late) builder who was a celebrity in the hobby, probably 2004 or so. I love the front mount mic and backlight compared to the XL. I have one of those mics somewhere, check the board inside to see how it’s labeled. I think they have have been blister packed Barjans but something else makes me think it was marketed by another company as well.
What is your recommendation for a decent ranged hand held for the truck? Like a Uniden PRO401HH for instance. Any other hand held you would recommend? I don't really want to mount a cb in my truck nor want the big antenna on it either. Suggestions?? Thanks!
@@urbangamehunter2531 Ok. Was just going to mention getting the antenna outside the vehicle to get the signal out. I don't know of a better Handi-version. I think Eric did an episode or two on some Handi-CB's. As long as it's CB, it's 4Watts output. I don't think they make SSB CB's anymore, so you're stuck at 4 Wat output Max. This said, a good antenna placed as high as you can get it makes the diff. I just put my Antron up a few weeks ago and was able to talk to a guy sixty miles away.
I am from south africa and i have the same mic but the brand name on this one is zetagi model number 99 excellent mic but it lacks some bass it has enough treble though other than that it is a good mic
Bought one of these at a moving sale today for fifty bucks still in the box never used.
That is a great deal you found.
Thanks I think I'm going to pair it with a president new Virginia antenna and put it in my mercury grand marquis. I run it on the highway quite a bit.

@@FarpointFarms You're welcome!
I worked a station in Boone NC. on 146.520 from a mobile in Coeburn VA.
Nice radio.

XL over LT? I would really appreciate your input. Thanks in advance 👍🏼 I have the opportunity to buy both but not sure which one to buy 🤔
Both are great, but the LT wins in my book. Newer unit, better lighting and looks nicer too.
Breaker from north east Georgia just got a new/old teaberry T tube radio n great shape, maybe catcha on the air.
Eric try to see if you can check in to the saturday night roll call on channel 14 around 9
Here in The Swamps of South Georgia 11meter skip has been rolling a good 7 day week now. TroubleShooter 122 told ya that!
I realize I am quite off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch newly released movies online ?
GAWD! I used to HATE it when people used Roger beeps!

What a fantastic looking radio! Love those backlit dials a lot

Just sold mine a month ago 🥺
That Uniden looks new! I have my RCI-2950 still on the air and use it on my videos! Keep those old radios on the air! 📻👍
A quality radio for sure.
Nice setup ! Like the coffee mug , looks like one of the cats was checking the connections in the back , making sure ya got it right :)
Nice radio. But what was in that Star Trek box?
The mug?
@@barneymm2204 Ah, okay. It looked like the side of a box to me. Then again, that's due to a damaged retina.
@@JoeR203 Yeah, it was a mug full of pens, etc.
Makes me consider mobile for a base station.
Nice radio, I wish the DX was rolling a little better these days. I have been calling on 29.600 FM looking for contacts.
Why on FM?
@@JohnnyNJones 29.600 FM is the national calling frequency on the 10 meter band. Yes, I said FM.

You using with a mag mount?
@@barneymm2204 I don't know what that means. I just wanted a handheld for emergencies when I road trip.

I just ordered a president randy fcc handheld, with a lithium rechargeable battery instead of the old school 10aa battery type
The night watch does good at night so you can see the nobs
Such a classic look.
Nice rig.
