Microsoft should take a note from Nintendo and prioritize enjoyable gameplay experiences over hardware, maybe even licensing unused/dormant IP out to third-parties for development. But if they're going to prioritize hardware they should take a note from Valve and release a "gamer's variant of Windows", similar to SteamOS (but with better compatability) and then release Xbox machines as a *baseline* standard for developers to aim for.
You're right. The trouble with Microsoft, is what Steve Jobs said: "no taste". It's been a very left-brain enterprise historically so it didn't value the diversity of appeal for chill gamers, which Sony is just about holding onto (Astro Bot!). But AAA exclusives on both fronts are lame for the gaming industry. In many ways MS are on a better path than Sony now, and I think they are just testing the waters before committing to cross-platform everything. If they do get Steam and Epic on the hardware, it gives them a ton of leverage unless Sony can craft some stipulations.
They should do more stuff like recore, that game had so much potential. Smaller and more unique games, more gameplay-related and with franchise potential

I saw that Vizio is dropping a new line that will support 120 hz and other bells and whistles. I may jump on that. I have an older 75 inch Vizio and it looks great.
I use a Samsung OLED the one without the all- in- one cable management as it slows the video signal down last I checked. It was affordable last year and looks amazing. Only thing is you don't have Dolby Vision.

I have both consoles but unless there`s a Playstation exclusive game like God of War or Spiderman, i don`t really find myself turning on the Playstation but i do use gamepass and the xbox constantly. Been a Playstation fan since Playstation launched. But I did own a 360 and kinect for a time. And now have a Series X and PS5. But just like you I find myself on Xbox more often these days. Only on the PS5 for Exclusive games. I found more value in Ultimate Gamepass than PS Plus. For the first time ever since the beginning of PS Plus I have let it expire without renewal.
@@beemerplays I had PS+ for years and used it to play games that i had bought anyways day 1 in disk form because i`m a boomer and i like to show off my game collection on shelves to the husbands of my wife`s friends when they get invite over to our place. I decided not to renew the subscription when they bumped up the prices a few months ago. I mean at least with xbox i can justify the price because they have day 1 releases and i most likely would have bought the games anyways.
I guess having Halo Multiplayer available on PS would be ok, as long as the campaign stayed Xbox exclusive. They could work and keep us Xbox fan boys happy. Having the multiplayer on PS increases player population and that is better.

It is interesting everyone that hasn't built a "business" to a $1T valuation has the answers. I think sometimes we overstep and it is noisy. Feedback is great to show what we like, but to call their decisions as not making sense is an overstep. They are lead by actual data not emotion. If 10K community members are outraged that is loud to us, but out of over millions of customers the data might show a different perspective we are not aware of. Business is business. I believe the exec team's heart is in the right place, but when there are larger initiatives, data and ultimately shareholders involved there are compromises. So if there are broken promises, sure provide feedback. But don't discount the entire journey because there are decisions that go against how we think they should move (unless you are the leading shareholder in MS). And remember they have made decisions that the business wasn't exactly happy with (and lost revenue opportunities) that was beneficial for us. Have that same balance. Either you trust the team or you don't. I just say remember the line and provide feedback up to it, but don't cross because we don't have the future roadmap or data to be fully informed.

Well I've preferred the Xbox exclusives in the past and now so if they are released on PS5 I may as well just buy their kit in the future particularly if I can stream Gamepass and use the Xbox controller (which I far prefer) on the next Playstation. Alternatively just skip consoles all together from now on and go fully PC.
EXCLUSIVES ARE BAD FOR BUSINESS. Why would any company want to limit the amount of sales to the number of consoles. Sell to multiple consoles and you WILL sale more copies. Very few people will spend $400+ on a console to play 1 or 2 games.
I’m a Xbox owner and user for those reasons: 1) bought the console and GP ultimate for 36 bucks a month over 2 years, easy purchase 2) Game Pass Ultimate which allows me and my family to try and play plenty of games at no extra charges 3) it’s compatible with Windows, so I could potentially play all my Xbox games on a future windows handheld console (ROG Ally x, Xbox handheld, etc…) 4) retro compatibility with all old games I had on my old Xbox 360
And UA-camrs like Ray are desperate for views. I am seeing this more and more and more Xbox is finished no Xbox is on top. Crapgamer Reviews runs that into the ground.

Ya people tend to forget that PS4 was also in talks of having online requirement and no resale of physical games. Why would I take my physical games to EB/Gamestop for nickles so they could turn around and sell it for 3 times the price. 3rd party retailers are making bank on games that the devs don't see a cent off resale. Xbox finally learned that games need to make money for studios to survive and Game Pass is great to promote small games but it destroys revenue for AAA games and screw up studios. They are basically using PlayStation users to pay for their games like PlayStation is using PC players to bring more money to their studios. If you are A. A gamer B. Over 16 Yet you genuinely believe too your core that exclusives are all important and stopping people from playing games on other platforms is good, then you are everything that's wrong with gaming. That doesn't mean that all of a sudden, every Xbox owner will sell their console, lose all their games, all their achievements, all their friends and Game Pass.... Just too buy a PS5. I’ve just never been a fan of Bethesda. Every game they have, I either never complete it or never have any drive to want to come back to play it.(this is not just them either, DEVELOPERS, quit making shit games. I saw that Vizio is dropping a new line that will support 120 hz and other bells and whistles. I may jump on that. I have an older 75 inch Vizio and it looks great.
I use a Samsung OLED the one without the all- in- one cable management as it slows the video signal down last I checked. It was affordable last year and looks amazing. Only thing is you don't have Dolby Vision.
I got a hisense 55 inch 4k tv, nothing fancy but games look awesome

I have both consoles but unless there`s a Playstation exclusive game like God of War or Spiderman, i don`t really find myself turning on the Playstation but i do use gamepass and the xbox constantly. At the end of the day why all the hate? i mean every time games are "exclusive" that`s just bad for us the consumer. I mean who wins from exclusives? not us! not the consumer! imagine a world where you buy a second hand Series S for 120$ and a cheap ass monitor for another 100$ and 150$ for 1 year gamepass and for 370$ you start rocking! and in an ideal world you would pay 70$ and be able to play God of War on that series S and in this way we the consumer win... but nooooo!!!! Been a Playstation fan since Playstation launched. But I did own a 360 and kinect for a time. And now have a Series X and PS5. But just like you I find myself on Xbox more often these days. Only on the PS5 for Exclusive games. I found more value in Ultimate Gamepass than PS Plus. For the first time ever since the beginning of PS Plus I have let it expire without renewal.
@@beemerplays I had PS+ for years and used it to play games that i had bought anyways day 1 in disk form because i`m a boomer and i like to show off my game collection on shelves to the husbands of my wife`s friends when they get invite over to our place. I decided not to renew the subscription when they bumped up the prices a few months ago. I mean at least with xbox i can justify the price because they have day 1 releases and i most likely would have bought the games anyways.
I guess having Halo Multiplayer available on PS would be ok, as long as the campaign stayed Xbox exclusive.
They could work and keep us Xbox fan boys happy. Having the multiplayer on PS increases player population and that is better.

It is interesting everyone that hasn't built a "business" to a $1T valuation has the answers. I think sometimes we overstep and it is noisy. Feedback is great to show what we like, but to call their decisions as not making sense is an overstep. They are lead by actual data not emotion. If 10K community members are outraged that is loud to us, but out of over millions of customers the data might show a different perspective we are not aware of. Business is business. I believe the exec team's heart is in the right place, but when there are larger initiatives, data and ultimately shareholders involved there are compromises. So if there are broken promises, sure provide feedback. But don't discount the entire journey because there are decisions that go against how we think they should move (unless you are the leading shareholder in MS). And remember they have made decisions that the business wasn't exactly happy with (and lost revenue opportunities) that was beneficial for us. Have that same balance. Either you trust the team or you don't. I just say remember the line and provide feedback up to it, but don't cross because we don't have the future roadmap or data to be fully informed.

I thought it was fantastic when Sony started allowing their games on PC. It's a good thing that Microsoft has followed suit. This way all TRUE gamers can play more games! As long as the quality doesn't go down from less competition, we'll be good. We don't need another 1983!

Well I've preferred the Xbox exclusives in the past and now so if they are released on PS5 I may as well just buy their kit in the future particularly if I can stream Gamepass and use the Xbox controller (which I far prefer) on the next Playstation. Alternatively just skip consoles all together from now on and go fully PC.

I’m a Xbox owner and user for those reasons:
1) bought the console and GP ultimate for 36 bucks a month over 2 years, easy purchase
2) Game Pass Ultimate which allows me and my family to try and play plenty of games at no extra charges
3) it’s compatible with Windows, so I could potentially play all my Xbox games on a future windows handheld console (ROG Ally x, Xbox handheld, etc…)
4) retro compatibility with all old games I had on my old Xbox 360

Obviously it was Playstation players complaining about MS buying all these studios, because then these games presumeably wouldn't be available on playstation, while the ones complaining about them going multiplatform were xbox players, because if all exclusives go multiplatform there is no reason to buy an xbox, meaning Microsoft is on one hand shafting you for buying their machine over Sonys and also the Xbox is less appealing for new customers -> smaller community/playerbase.
Also you can't say putting the games on playstation payed off because some of their games sold well. Nobody was questioning that some games would sell well.
The question is: Is the short term cash flow worth it, to weaken the overall value proposition of the Xbox compared to the Playstation?
The answer would depend on what MS strategy is going forward. Rumors have it that apparently Microsoft is kinda changing their whole business model and approach to consoles, so it remains to be seen what this will bring.
Personally I think Microsoft is not sure quite yet how to move forward, slowly coming to the realisation that GamePass isn't the holy grail and in fact unsustainable.
They just put these games on playstation to get a short term cash injection (while closing studios so short term save costs) to appease big daddy Satya, who is breathing down Phils neck wanting to see results or at least the game division not being such a money sinkhole. That is all just a panic move to buy time to figure out a strategy going forward.
Microsoft is far from winning. In fact quite the opposite. Lots of their games have troubled development. Studios are for whatever reason not delivering quality. The Xbox division is running at a loss. There is no real plan to get a reasonable ROI out of the AB aquisition. Current gen sales are below expectations. Half of the playerbase is still on last gen.

Why would I take my physical games to EB/Gamestop for nickles so they could turn around and sell it for 3 times the price. 3rd party retailers are making bank on games that the devs don't see a cent off resale. And as for Gamepass, people had no problem back in the day paying monthly to Blockbuster to be able to rent games wherever they wanted, but Gamepass bad cause it's only digital. Personally I prefer the least expensive way to do it and many games in GP and my kids playing many games with GP and new games from MS are included... I play on XB (if I play at all).
Xbox finally learned that games need to make money for studios to survive and Game Pass is great to promote small games but it destroys revenue for AAA games and screw up studios. They are basically using PlayStation users to pay for their games like PlayStation is using PC players to bring more money to their studios. The main difference is that PS5 is a best selling while Xbox is putting Xbox consoles at $100-$150 discount because it's stuck.

Yet you genuinely believe too your core that exclusives are all important and stopping people from playing games on other platforms is good, then you are everything that's wrong with gaming.
Lets say for example, all games from today cease too be exclusive.... Meaning all games from here are on PC, PS5 and Xbox..... That doesn't mean that all of a sudden, every Xbox owner will sell their console, lose all their games, all their achievements, all their friends and Game Pass.... Just too buy a PS5.
And it won't mean, all PS owners will suddenly dump their PS consoles, all their games, trophies, PS Plus and buy a Xbox.
It is consumer choice, those that are on Xbox, will stay and those on PS will stay.
The only difference i can see happening, is PS owners that are die hard fans of CoD, MAY.... not a certainty, but may buy a Xbox for Game Pass, and CoD, depending on what Xbox throw in with it.

Every game they have, I either never complete it or never have any drive to want to come back to play it.(this is not just them either, DEVELOPERS, quit making shit games.
