3:00-3:05 Eazy-E, the founder and originator of Gangster Rap (King-T actually arguably founded it, but you get what I'm trying to say) once said to a reporter who questioned why he had accepted to attend a White House dinner invitation that "all and any press is good for celebrities, regardless of their image" and that always stuck with me.
He always understood the class struggle. In the '80s, he gave The Million Dollar Man his idea for what he wanted his gimmick to be had he made it as a wrestler. And it was an asshole rich guy. It's no coincidence that Vince and the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, are often cited as the two greatest heels in wrestling history.
Vince wasn't all about what the fans want, Vince was 99.99% about the money and himself. So many examples lol, the Yes movement for example. It took the fans just about rioting to make that happen against Vince's own booking.
Wrestling is both things. Sometimes wrestling is the trend setter, based off an upcoming reality, and then reality mimics the zeitgeist initiated in the ring.
If you are a massive wrestling fan and into the history and dirt sheets it's a good summary but most of the stories have been told countless times. If you aren't a fan I'm sure Vince comes off as a tiger king type figure to the average fan but to us wrestling fans we are just like yeah we know he's kinda a pos but probably the greatest promoter ever.
The fact that it had Phil Mushnick in it, delegitimized it almost immediately. It included people with known vendettas against the McMahons and the company. Mushnick wasn't the only one they included like that either.
If these guys read this or for anyone else interested in wrestling, watch the documentary called Wrestlers. It follows Al Snow and Ohio Valley Wrestling promotion that he runs. It's really good.
Cody Rhodes does seem to represent the American story, and overcoming its nightmare. He also has some Trumpesk-like characteristics too thats very interesting.
I love how andrew asks a good question, than let's someone answer for 5 seconds before completely talking over them for the next 5 minutes. My mom use to say two types of people "someone who listens when you talk, and the other is just waiting for you to finish so they can talk
WWE under Vince was a chaotic mess. You KNEW every week they were gonna do something that offends you or insults your intelligence. But you just couldn't look away.
I would say that at a certain point wrestling stopped being a reflection of society. For example they didn’t do anything controversial during the woke era or antifa or far right groups. However in the 90s they did reflect the Jerry springer era and 80s they did reflect the Stallone manly man era.
Agree!!! You never seen a documentary or a report about Vince McMahon in which Vince participated in and loyal wrestlers that would die on a sword for him agree to be honest about him. Vince is probably the greatest promoter of all times, but unfortunately he has a lot of flaws
It was definitely good as far as taking you behind the scenes of the golden years. Grew up in the attitude era so after 14 I stopped watching, but I was never fully intune of those golden years. I caught the tail end of the early 90s but I was too young to understand. Wasn’t half as controversial as I thought it would be in outing Vince. In turn it kinda made me respect him and understand him a bit more after learning more about his childhood traumas. That dude is not soft whatsoever
I think it had some good parts but most people already knew everything about vince it didnt really show anything new .it wasn't better than the dark side of John Cena doc
As a life long WWF / WWE fan, the company WWE themselves have made betters docs….. Lifers like me, just saw WWE TV clips we’ve seen countless times but with new Vince interview footage. Best doc? No. Very uncomfortable & revealing doc? Yes.
If you are a wrestling fan : the Vince doc sucked . Dark Side of the Ring told all those stories WAY better . If you aren’t a wrestling fan , the Vince doc was shocking.
This wasn’t a great doc. Maybe for non wrestling fans, but there was very little new info about anyone or anything in the doc. Mostly fluff to wrestling fans.
No. The Vince documentary one wasn't that good at all. It only showed what were already knew and Vince just playing Mr Mahon. Newbies like yourselves this Netflix documentary is snowflake compared to the dark side of the ring. Can't believe you guys are this amateur lol
Netflix cut 4 episodes worth of footage because the doc was originally going to be 10 episodes. Mr. McMahon ended up being a puff piece instead of a hit piece.
They need to watch “Dark Side of The Ring”
Someone needs to explain who Paul Heyman is to Andrew. Paul on the pod would be an instant classic
Jim Cornette???
It was basically a history of WWE doc, but if you aren’t as familiar with Vince it’s for you. Well put together too.
Vince McMahon made my childhood amazing. The attitude era of WWF was peak entertainment
Akash gotta stop acting like he’s not a fan.. saying he was a fan for like 2 years is crazy.. it’s ok to be fan bro lol
Always says his brother tells him about the latest news.
@ yea he knows way too much tho lol he’s a undercover fan
This is what people do when they’re fans and want to act like they’re not
He’s annoying with that ish among other things 🤣
Wrestling is theater. American Shakespeare lol
Really makes me happy non wrestling fans are finally figuring out what its all about. The stories.
Wrestling psychology applies perfectly to real life.
The thing I've learned the most from wrestling is you are always in character, you are always cutting a promo and its always a work.
Facts and it was even worse back in the day before the business got exposed. Bad Guys and Good guys couldn't even be seen together in public back then
Until you work yourself into a shoot, brotha!

Vince Doc is the best documentary of 2024

Kurt Angle was the “american hero” when 9/11 happened and they gave him the title the first ppv after
100 foot wave is one of the best documentaries ever made. Watched it multiple times.
Gotta watch it
TBH, this was on my 2024 bingo card. Glad gentlemen and scholars like yourselves are finally coming around 👍
He always understood the class struggle. In the '80s, he gave The Million Dollar Man his idea for what he wanted his gimmick to be had he made it as a wrestler.

So many Shultz epiphanies in this clip 😂😂😂
Vince wasn't all about what the fans want, Vince was 99.99% about the money and himself. So many examples lol, the Yes movement for example. It took the fans just about rioting to make that happen against Vince's own booking.
Matt Walsh doc was pretty fing good
No lmao shit is ass
Thank you, Finally People are starting to UNDERSTAND Pro Wrestling!
Wrestling is both things.

It’s a male soap opera and one for family too wwe is legendary
Yall should check out Monday night wars on peacock.

They turned down on the laughter! 🙏🏻
Cody Rhodes does seem to represent the American story, and overcoming its nightmare. He also has some Trumpesk-like characteristics too thats very interesting.
Why do I see this Stake ad everywhere, especially on Twitter.
“Mr. McMahon” was a puff piece compared to any “Dark Side of The Ring” episode. Schulz would be on a binge marathon watching those lol
I love how andrew asks a good question, than let's someone answer for 5 seconds before completely talking over them for the next 5 minutes. My mom use to say two types of people "someone who listens when you talk, and the other is just waiting for you to finish so they can talk
What episode of his podcast is this from?
wrestling is RELATABLE in all aspects. because we all have an experience in the SAME life scenarios !!!
Everyone always said that the "Mr. McMahon" character is just Vinces' real personality dialed up to 11.
if you never wached wwe growing up...its clear this is a netflic paid ad for that doc lol
We never thought the doc was coming out.
I was gonaa say the same thing. But did it first, lol. But I guess for those who don't know. Maybe it was good to them.
It was actually pretty good. I just watched it.
I was gonna say something similar. Shultz and the Toy Story boys discover pro wrestling in 2024 😆 That doc told us nothing we don't already know lol
Fun fact: You can reply to a comment by tapping on it three times.
It's the second best documentary behind the TMZ: P Diddy documentaries.
WWE under Vince was a chaotic mess. You KNEW every week they were gonna do something that offends you or insults your intelligence. But you just couldn't look away.
Cody created a company and became a superstar on the indies thats the political move he made
ANDREW AND FLAGRANT you guys NEED to watch and do a segment on the OCTOPUS MURDER DOCUMENTARY
Wrestlinbios has great docs.
I would say that at a certain point wrestling stopped being a reflection of society. For example they didn’t do anything controversial during the woke era or antifa or far right groups. However in the 90s they did reflect the Jerry springer era and 80s they did reflect the Stallone manly man era.

You must invite dr.vandana sharma diya and do a podcast on advaita vedanta and spirituality
Was mostly a magazine show about the history of wrestling
A stake ad on the clips now? 🤣🤣
If you were a wrestling fan for any time then none of that shit was new
All those stories on the Vince McMahon documentaries were told years ago. He didn't give away the good stuff
Honestly as a wrestling fan the doc was not good. Its all things wrestling fans know already
What did u expect
It was definitely good as far as taking you behind the scenes of the golden years. Grew up in the attitude era so after 14 I stopped watching, but I was never fully intune of those golden years. Gotta realize HHH runs it now
It really wasn’t Waluigi
It was good but he didn’t tell anything he’s already told.
I think it had some good parts but most people already knew everything about vince it didnt really show anything new .it wasn't better than the dark side of John Cena doc
Tell me you watch wrestling without telling me you want to sound cool like you don’t watch wrestling.
Tony Atlas had all of the best parts lol
I really liked Brett Hart's parts too.
He's the character but 10x exaggerated
You all your families and friends have a good holiday

The best documentary of 2024 is ‘Am I racist?’
It's a joke of a film. Not exactly the best or poignant documentary to care about
No it wasn't. I watched the first 45min and didn't like it

@Jrd387 totally agree with you. But for non wrestling fan like Andrew it was really good. It give new fans/casual fan a good insight.
Then don't watch it. It was Doc of 2024
Exactly. It wasn't made for you unfortunately
@ I don’t have a problem with that. However, the doc was advertised as more. Oh well…
Ive been saying forever that TRUMP N VINCE ARE TIGHT N Trump mirrors hos persona n campaigns similar to that of wrestling PERIOD POINT BLANK 💯🤫

The McMahon documentary was shit
Looked up Chris Smith. Only found videos of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock
I could not get through the 1st episode of the Vince documentary I knew everything in up to thar point so I turned it off
You must be friends with the director or something? Because it sucked!!

Netflix cut 4 episodes worth of footage because the doc was originally going to be 10 episodes. Mr. McMahon ended up being a puff piece instead of a hit piece.
If you really know WWE you know that doc is ass
No
All nothing new in it
