As a guy who is editing documentary style videos most everyday, I lapped up his appreciation of editors. Thanks Ira, and you are right, we rock!!

He was so nervous at the beginning! Then he hit his stride, and it was a very powerful speech and only serves to further prove his point that we all doubt ourselves from time to time.

Amazing that the audio was feeding back - why wouldn't a journalism school have a decent sound tech?

I have Ira Glass’s autograph from 17+ years ago. He is one of my hero’s or idol’s to say the least. Love ❤️ you Ira.

I love you, Ira, and I totally thank you for Serial. Serial made me rethink what MY WHOLE WORLD could be not just what a podcast could be. Thank you for being a big part of my world.
18:34 full disclosure though, Kanye (and yeah a lot Ira too) is my religion (

35:30 and this is the part people don't wanna think about but it's the anxiety that has brought us to this ugliness.
Has Ira's warriors' cunning gotten to anyone else yet??

I agree, but to clarify: It's a digital camera, not a phone. She's taking photos, not video.

Thank you for sharing this. I thoroughly enjoy Ira's work on This American Life and this was just as enjoyable. Hearing some of the stories from behind the scenes adds interesting context to the stories I listened to on the show. I am reassured that he feels it's worthwhile to continue giving conservative voices a platform despite increasing backlash against it. I am sometimes unsure if I'm mistaken for wanting to listen to them, and having him sort of ratify my view feels comforting, strangely enough. On an unrelated matter, my wife is a Columbia grad and I continue to be impressed by your institution.

The woman with her camera is so distracting, distracted and oblivious.
