What a lovely, thoughtful, and inspiring speech. "This is your time and it feels normal to you, but really there is no normal. There is only change, and resistance to it, and more change."
Outstanding!! She has an uncanny ability to hold everyone's attention for close to 30 minutes & be inspiring & also memorable. Kudos to her.
Brilliant! Meryl is one of the most real people of all the real people I have ever met. This exemplifies her and her amazing intellect and spirit. TY Meryl!
You have met her
Number1 Meryl Streep fan for life yes. She’s an amazing woman. As real as it gets 👍🏻
it's up to all of us to take what we can from this... she gave the speech at one location but it is here for all of us to learn from... if this had taken place 10yrs ago not one of us would be able to see or hear the advice she offers but the fact that we live in the age.. yet that we are the first to live in an age where we are fortified the opportunity to witness this profound speach is a gift to all of us.. in short count your blessings, be grateful and have empathy..
her honesty was so humbly, this is so much more valuable and rare, what an amazing women and speech. ending choked me up.
She's so humble, funny, creative, inspiring, enlightening. I loved Meryl Streep before I watched this, but now I love her even more. This was so amazing to watch and I have even more respect for her than I ever have before. I love Meryl Streep!

Well was directed here through Udemy to understand what's clarity. And I am so overwhelmed to find one of the best commencement speeches I have ever seen. Where she has perfectly portrayed the minute details of her life with true clarity.
"Being a celebrity has taught me to hide. But being an actor has opened my soul."

That was a pretty long speech now that I look at the length in minutes, but it didn't feel long at all as I was listening. I love Ms. Streep and love to listen to her. Thank you for that speech. I'm glad I could listen to it.
What a great speech - heartfelt and insightful, and revealing along the way how an actor crafts her life experience. She's obviously thought very carefully about what she could possibly offer these graduates, apart from a brush with glamour, and taken a long look at what her experience has to offer them.
So articulate! Such an elegant writer!
It is 2024, and her words still ring so true since this speech in 2010.

She's such an excellent speaker. I read her words a little bit in advance on the subtitles and think of the most effective way to say whatever she's going to say, then she says it in a better way. Meryl Streep is great! :)
There are those who cannot see; there are those who WILL not see; there are those who see and understand. Meryl Streep always seems to me to be a human being who happens to be a movie star. I think she's the coolest.
"As many women here I'm sure". Dying....Awesome!!!!

This was absolutely beautiful!! I couldn't help but tear up at the end! I hope the commencement speaker at my graduation is as awesome as Meryl is. But, it being Liberty University, it probably won't happen. LOL. ;(

Meryl forever!!!!
This was so inspiring, and interesting to watch. I teared up more than once ;)
I just love her.
I've received three different degrees. In the first one the governor of Kansas gave the address. In the second one a rising politician who had an appointed position in state government and the Secretary of Commerce spoke at the third. Where the hell was Meryl Streep when I needed her. I would go back to school and get another degree if I was assured she would be the speaker. She is beautiful, witty, clever and a national treasure. These women were lucky.
wow columbia students were very privileged to have meryl speak for them. i'm in astonished and jealous

i lo
She is great
What a humor... She is the best!
magnificent!
Being an actor requires one to be fairly intelligent for you must remember your lines while pretending you’re someone else! It’s it’s an amazing ability when you accomplish it well -and that’s how I feel about Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep is wonderful = ). I want to visit Columbia University this Summer. See how it's like.
I was the only teenager working at a movie theater in 2001 when she walked in and it was empty. She had no money at concession claiming “she didn’t have the cash on her” and she’d “pay me on her way out.”
She didn’t just blast out when her movie was done, she glared at me as she ran out. She was one of maybe 17 people in a 10 screen location.
It was a Tuesday or Wednesday at like 3 pm.
And I had to pay for her food and drink.
I had just turned 17. And she was seeing Serendipity. But take my money Meryl.
I’m waiting for the day to remind this woman that she has no right to take money from, essentially, kids.
No respect for this person, idc if you believe me, wait till you meet her.
I love Meryl Streep, shes so funny and a great actor:D
@JackKangaroo1
It's actually a separate institution from Columbia. It is one of the Seven Sisters colleges, which was the female Ivy League. It has a partnership with Columbia so that students receive diplomas from both schools, but it's legally and financially independent from Columbia. It's not an aggie school either, it's a liberal arts college that happens to be across the street from an Ivy League school.
She´s awesomeee!!
I love mamma Mia
Money money MONEY!!!!
I don't think it's funny :/
i love her!
