Couldnt agree more about your protour comments. Having a goal or dream to aspire to is one of the things that makes magic so special. Hopefully WoTC brings it back so the players feel inspired to compete again.
Why? Do you really think MTG is a sport? Grow up kid....90 percent of all so called "protour" players have cheated to get there. Common knowledge MTG on paper is a very corrupt game full of cheating low life's and men children.
The one use of Voltaic Key is that it can untap itself, while Manifold Key cannot. This can matter with effects like Rings of Brighthearth, allowing you to go infinite with Voltaic if you can generate enough mana. That said, as far as I know this only really done in some niche Canadian Highlander decks, which itself is a niche format.
One additional use is that it's NOT named Manifold, as most players these days will name that key. When I play a karn, I have the old VKey in the board ;)
@@busTedOaS the 2 mana no questions asked extra turn has opportunity cost though, even if they are small, it takes a spell slot, it can be countered, and it costs mana, saga at its absolute worst, costs only a land slot, and will usually at least tutor a card. which is absurd bcs at its best it wins the game alone with little to no opportunity cost
@@dylanm.4875 There is no magic card without opportunity cost. Saga is a colorless land that includes a narrow tutor with suspend 2 and stone rains itself afterwards. It also does not win the game alone since the tokens cost 2 mana each (3 if you include tapping Saga). It is immune to Counters but not to Removal. Most removal spells will leave your opponent up on tempo but down in cards. And combo decks will gladly watch you spend your turns that way. Of course one can discuss if Saga is too good, or if it fits in too many decks. Personally I like the idea that it should have been legendary. But it's not useful to pretend that Saga is a free include with only upside.
I used to know a guy at the local game shop that played a Doomsday combo EDH deck, and every single time he actually cast Doomsday, he would fiddle around for like 3 minutes, finish resolving the spell, take another 2 minutes in his turn, then go "Hmm. I scoop, I messed up the Doomsday pile :( " Every time.
I feel like Luis unnecessarily insults his viewers pretty excessively lately. It's become more blatant and common in his recent videos, he used to only really do it to people who kinda had it coming. Idk why he's being so disrespectful.
"P.O. doesn't main-deck Needle." I don't get it... Pithing Needle is a great card period, why wouldn't anyone put one in their main deck? Why do so many players assume that their opponents are playing specific decklists with specific cards and strategies? Is there no such thing as variety, personalization, and intuition when it comes to deckbuilding anymore? To answer my own question: NO.

“Well, sometimes you’re on the draw I guess”.
This vid reminded me how much I miss VSL :(

Urza's saga is a LAND that generated 2 mana, 18 power worth of creatures and tutored a card, all from an uncounterable position
yes, but that's christmas land. in a format where 2 mana buys you an extra turn no questions asked.

@@busTedOaS well said
Always love a video of LSV playing vintage!
Sad to hear the comment about no more VSL, loved it to bits and Vintage is a lot of fun now, perhaps even more than it was during VSL seasons.
Urza is a hell of a magic card
The Saga or the Creature?
-Yes
I think my fav thing about watching LSV for all these years is hearing him make the mouse wheel noise himself
IS THAT WHAT THAT NOISE IS??? or is this just a good meme comment lol
@@classicrocksd go back to LSV old cube draft videos and you’ll hear the mouse lol
i love ur vintage videos!
The deck is actually esper technecally
The opener at 1:01:30 has to be up there in the halls of most insane hands that can happen in this game.

shouldnt this be 8-thought, since they both have thought in the name?
LSV anything is great, but Vintage is always especially welcomed by me at least
8:46 the shudder of a broken soul lol
A cool name for this deck would be “Thinker” Thoughtcast + Tinker 😂
Why does vintage decks run the sphinx in the board ?
Match against creatures touching gruul
Cant be touched by the current builds of BUG. Protection against many relevant answers FoV, Dack, Trophy, Oko etc.
missed opportunity to call this deck thought destroyer
That moment about 13 minutes in was portent.
Discussion very good at magic, and also cut corners to win - David Williams
you missed the signal on card 2
LSV! LSV!
Should just be called 9-cast because of recall.

ya. sad. saw him do this the other day. "no one asked for ur opinion" or something like that. just straight up nasty to the people supporting him.
Modern Horizons was a mistake
Twitch chat on screen = dislike. Great way to ruin a video.
