    Why are the first 3 videos "private"? Please correct this. Watching the pros draft is one of my favourite things.

      I don't think LSV's opp played the best. I think he punted and got lucky to find the thallid.

      Hey give the guy some credit. He was in his first PT against a HoF player. He played to his outs and was rewarded. Cheers 🍻

      Meh... I won with green once. It was Ixalan and I got Carnage Tyrant in prerelease. I drew it in my opening hand. Then I drew enough lands. Then I cast it, then I attacked with it. Then I won.
      LSV was disgusted and rightly so. He wouldn’t have won game 2 if Josh had just dropped the Elf on turn 3 instead of waiting til turn 5.
      A GGG 5/4 that cant be chump blocked all 3 games.......... LSV also had some pretty mediocre draws. I don’t think he ever drew a removal spell, or his 2 drops that made mana for casting a sorcery/instant. He also had a lot more bouncing and tapping mechanics, depending on what he put in his deck. Icy manipulator is great, but when you’re getting your face beaten in already, it’s too little too late.

    Steel leaf early every game and a top deck for the win. Sounds like every one of my draft opponents.

      I've gotten to the point where I just stop watching these matches when players are shuffling aggressively like that throughout the entire match. Its so distracting and obnoxious.

    I thought Steel Leaf Champ couldn't be blocked by 2/2's?

    • @ianosborne2500
      @ianosborne2500 6 років тому +3

      Moo Those 2/2s were Merfolk Tricksters, which make a target creature lose all abilities until end of turn when they enter. LSV flashed one in and made the SLC lose its ability.

    "You've watched Luis Scott-Vargas draft (right?)", they ask.
    Wrong! It's a private video. You need to fix it.

    LSV miss a trigger of the trapper when he played that saga in game3

    • @chrisp2757
      @chrisp2757 6 років тому +1

      Only the creature tapped by the saga stays tapped, so it would untap on Josh’s turn anyway. LSV isn’t going to tap his Tapper to attack and let Josh get in free damage on the next turn. (Although Josh zapped the Tapper anyway). I think Josh would have been better off to save the kill spell and just attack with the fungus, see if LSV trades (which is prob 50/50).
      Josh could have offered up the fungus/Tapper trade a turn earlier too. Knowing he had the 3/2 Ll Envoy in hand and about to be played.
      I’m pretty crazy, I maybe attack with the Elf and Fungus, if he blocks, use the pump spell to save the fungus and kill the Tapper. Save the kill spell for later (maybe sac a creature to get the -5/-5) LSV was on the ropes bad. Go for the throat!
      LSV taps the fungus with the saga part II, I maybe use the gift of growth to untap it, then attack with it at 4/4. LSV has to block with his 3/2 or else he’s at 4 life... then you recast the Ll Envoy. Elf and Fungus go back to hand on saga part III, but you now have the mana to get them both back out.

    Why couldn’t LSV tap down the envoy g3, take 5, and then tap down the mammoth spider to attack for lethal?

    • @chengyanboon
      @chengyanboon 6 років тому

      Because then he'd just attack with the spider

  • @glytch5
    @glytch5 6 років тому

    wait... you can tap a creature that is already tapped?

    • @gaarn4000
      @gaarn4000 6 років тому

      Crixus The Gaul yup.

    • @glytch5
      @glytch5 6 років тому

      So... how come you can't crew a vehicle by a tapping a taped creature? It doensn't say tap and untapped. It just says tap...

    • @gaarn4000
      @gaarn4000 6 років тому +5

      Crew specifically requires that the creature is untapped:
      Crew N (Tap any number of untapped creatures you control with total power N or greater: This permanent becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.)
      Tapping a creature as an effect and tapping a creature as a cost are different. You can tap a creature as an effect even if it's already tapped - so Time of Ice can tap an already tapped creature. But when tapping is part of the cost (indicated by the tap symbol followed by a colon) the creature must be untapped in order to activate the ability. You can't tap a tapped Llanowar elves to add infinite mana to your mana pool. Hope that helps.

    • @glytch5
      @glytch5 6 років тому

      I understand the cost part... but this still doensn't make sense to me. Its the first I have ever seen it. Just kinda weird. I guess that makes time of ice a better card than it seems.

    • @totallyrealname6376
      @totallyrealname6376 Рік тому +1

      I know this is 4 years old but I don't like things being unclear/unanswered. It depends on the wording on the card. For instance take Blue Elemental Blast and Hydroblast, seemingly very similar cards; Blue Elemental Blast reads "Destroy *target red* permanent." explicitly implying it can only target a permanent that is red. While Hydroblast reads "Destroy target permanent if it is red" implying it can target any permanent but will only destroy it if it is red. In a given scenario if there was only a monoblack permanent on the battlefield Blue Elemental Blast could not be cast as there is no legal target while Hydroblast could be cast because it doesn't have the requirement of color on target however the permanent would not be destroyed after the spell was cast.
      Now take this same logic and apply it to a random vehicle vs Time of Ice; the activated ability Crew is described in the rules as "Tap any number of other *untapped* creatures you control with total power N or greater" whereas Time of Ice reads "Tap target creature an opponent controls." As you can see Crew has the conditioner "untapped" where Time of Ice doesn't therefor you can target an already tapped creature.
      Take other cards as examples such as 'Aim High' which has no such modifier; in a hypothetical situation where it DID have the modifier then your opponent attacks you but you have no tapped creatures you would be forced to target one of their attacking creatures since it doesn't have the modifier you can target any creature on the battlefield. Take Heritage Druid as an adverse example of a card that does have the conditioner; without it you would be able to continuously tap the same already tapped elves to generate infinite mana, which would be extremely problematic.
      Like I said I know this is 4 years old and I doubt you still even play at this point and if you do still play MTG you probably already understand why this works the way it does. Tl;Dr though, Do exactly what the card says no more, no less.
