Wonderful video all around; incredibly helpful for planning, beautiful compositions, great music, solid narration, and very well edited. Excellent job on this, and thank you so much. I'm hoping to do it this year and this helps a lot with the planning phase. Thank you.
Thank you so much for appreciating the work that goes into making these films! I am glad you found it both enjoyable to watch and helpful with your planning! I hope you will have a great experience on the GR20 (if you didn't already visit Corsica) :)
I've just watched this again after some months. I can't believe I didn't like or comment the first time. An absolute delight to watch. Visually enthralling and informative, with a humble delivery. Keep it coming and stay safe.
An excellent record of your trip - well done. I walked the GR20 twice in the 1980s but that was before the internet. It would have been interesting to see your video before going, but in those days you only had the guide book! Your account brought back a lot of memories. Great job.
Wow, it must have been a totally different experience back then. I am glad you stumbled upon my video and that it brought good memories to you from the trail. With the technology and the advancement of the backpacking gear it is so much easier for us nowadays.. I hope you are still enjoying spending time in nature and the outdoors, Cheers!
First of all, I want to tell, that you are awesome!!! Filming is really good, and you spend a lot of time and power doing these shots of yourself. That is great!!! Also, you have an amazing endurance. 9 days ... wow !!! Twice faster than me. And a week faster than usual. Plus, you are wearing such thin sneakers... Can't imagine how you manage not to hurt your feet. And your food. You are cold eater. What you were taking along? As I see it is muesli and potato? What else? And one more time thank you for the film!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Having a lighter pack definitely helped with being able to go quicker along the route, but I also after all the rocky surface towards the ends of the days I would have pain on my knees and ankles. Taking it slower or stopping earlier I would have probably avoided all that pain.. And regarding food I would usually have a oats/musli/granola with nuts, raisins, protein powder, sugar, coconut flakes, then during the day I would have chocolate bars and nuts and dried fruit, and then for dinners I would usually have either noodles or couscous with peanuts, TVP (granulated soy), coconut flakes, spices and sometimes ketchup.. And I would usually soak the dinner for about 30minutes to an hour so it will be ready to eat :) Cheers!
Brilliant Lyubo. Love that. All of your work setting the camera, backtracking on your path, filming, editing, sound - great work. Thank you so much. I'm off to the GR20 next August and you've got me questioning - alone or in a group. All the best.
Thank you so much for appreciating the effort that goes into making these! And for me it's a tough question hiking solo or in a group, I would say it depends a lot of the other people, if you have some previous experience hiking with them, it would make it easier and can be a very positive hiking experience! Best of luck on your trip!
I am hoping to do the GR20 next year and this video was just what I needed to get an idea of the route and the level of difficulty to be expected. Excellent work - thank you!
@@luboyanev I completed in eight days. It is the hardest hike I have ever done. I lost the trail on day two when I took lunch at Asco and then proceeded to hike the Cirque de la solitude. Almost died, but other than that section, enjoyed the hike and the fall colors. 😆
@@CaryMercer amazing and congratulations! It's was a pretty physically challenging hike for me as well, but totally worth the effort! And good job for doing it in only 8 days!
woww what an intense hike!! this was so awesome to watch, the variety in scenery is absolutely stunning!! also, shot selection and editing is on point 😇👌
@@luboyanev Thank you, it was amazing. But it was a bit harder than I expected, so I only had time to go from Calenzana to Vizzavona. But I'll come back and do the rest in the future :)
@@MarkusFolz Yeah, and the north section is the tougher part of the trail, so congrats on completing that! And good to hear you still had a good time out there.
@@MarkusFolz I just saw your story highlights from your trip, it looked like you also managed to hike during the fall colors, and mostly good weather. But I was curious, I saw we have the same Duplex tent, and you had managed to have it pitched on the platforms near the huts. How did you manage to pitch it, it looked very well taut, did you tie rocks or sticks to the guylines, or did you use these platform anchors that zpacks sells? And btw. if I could give one piece of advice, I saw your footprint extended quite a lot away from the sidewalls, and this way when water drips down the tent it would gather up. I have cut my footprint to be the size of the baththub floor of the tent (or even slightly smaller), about 225cm by 110cm, so that water won't drip on it, and still protects the tent floor. Hope that will be helpful
@@luboyanev Awesome, thank you for the tip with the footprint. I had some issues with water building up between the footprint and the tent. Awesome job Lyubo, loved it and useful to know this can be done in Oct. I couldn't do it as light as you, that cold soaked stuff makes me wince just looking at it!
Hey, thank you!! Hiking in October was actually a pretty pleasant experience. And yeah the cold soaking food is not for every one, I'm lucky I'm not that picky regarding food :) Happy hiking!
Hello Lyubo, many thanks for posting this brilliant film! My friend and I were actually hiking the north section of the GR20 just a few days before you, and it was a pleasure to see some of the sights again so vividly and relive the experience.

Magic stuff Lyubo!! Thank you for this wonderful content. It helps a lot when you're stuck behind a desk 😂 If you're ever in Cape Town, South Africa, give me a shout. Would love to show you our mountains.
Hehe, thank you Arno! I am glad it made your day more magical :) And I will let you know if I at some point end up going on a hiking trip in South Africa :) Cheers!
Love the way you document your hikes, it is just a joy to watch. How big was your backpack and what do you take in it? How do you shower or wash clothes?
Thank you for the kind words!! On that hike I used a 38L pack (with 25L of the internal volume and 13L in the outside pockets), so it was quite small, but I was just enough to carry everything with me. And I flew with it as a carry on bag. And for showering and washing clothes, I usually do it in the lakes or rivers, or if there are any huts along the way, I would also shower there (on this hike I showered in the refugios in Calenzana before starting the hike, then in Vizzavona and Bavella). Happy hiking!
What a wonderful video of your hike. Thank you so much for taking the time to stage and record all those sections. My family is doing this soon and we can't wait.
Thank you, I am glad you appreciated the effort! And regardless being the toughest, I think because I pushed myself to do two stages every day, and from walking on the hard rocks all day towards the end of the days I would start getting pretty bad pain on the sides of my knees and on my ankles, and I was carrying a pretty light pack. I think if I was doing one stage per day it would be way less painful and not so tough. I don't know if you saw my video from Lofoten, personally I had a tougher time there mostly because of the climate. The views on the GR20 also made the hard parts worth it. In the end hard to say if it's the toughest trail in Europe :) It is challenging, but it is worth it..
Както винаги прекрасно поднесен филм , все едно ходи човек с теб докато гледа... Браво! Баща ти ми вика оня ден: Пуска нов филм утре ... знае с къв кеф ги гледам :)

Thank you! And I thanks for the recommendation, never heard of it and looking on the photos online it does look nice. I have thought about hiking on Madeira, it looks so beautiful and seems like these days it's a really popular place to visit for hikers and tourists..
Thank you! Ooh, and I have heard many good things and have seen images of Scotland and it looks very impressive too, so one day I hope I'd visit. Cheers!
Thank you! Inspiring others is a big part of making these films. I just returned from a trip to Norway, so there should be a new (and shorter) film coming sometime in the future. Cheers!
Thank you! And that's a good question! On the top of my head: - Know how to get to the trailhead - Know how much food you will need to carry (depending on estimated pace and if the huts are open and serving meals) - Try to lower the weight of the gear, the GR20 has a lot of steep and rocky terrain, the heavier the pack the harder will be the experience - Know which season you'll be hiking, summer might be very hot (I don't have personal experience with hiking it in the summer so it's only a guess) - The trail is even prettier in real life Happy hiking :)

What a journey! Great adventure and movie!! 😁😍
Thank you for watching!
Thank you, you guys will be in for a treat, it's an amazing trail!
Excellent video Lyubo, great footage and narration. Thank you for sharing! You’ve convinced me to book my visit!
Thank you! And I am glad it inspired you! It's a really beautiful and at times rough trail, Have a great time out there! :)
Really nice video! Good job on the editing and commentary
Thank you for watching, I am glad it was enjoyable!
Great video. The narration, the shots and the information. Just wondering about your conclusion - The toughest trail in Europe?

Hey, I'm replying somewhat late, but I hope you managed to go there and have a great trip across Corsica!
You are one of the best hikers in youtube.
You should come to Portugal and try our national parque...Gerês. Congratulations
Thank you! And I thanks for the recommendation, never heard of it and looking on the photos online it does look nice. I have thought about hiking on Madeira, it looks so beautiful and seems like these days it's a really popular place to visit for hikers and tourists..
Superb film. Big fan of your work, Lyubo. Maybe see you in the Scottish mountains one day.
Thank you! Ooh, and I have heard many good things and have seen images of Scotland and it looks very impressive too, so one day I hope I'd visit. Cheers!
@@luboyanev Can’t promise as much sunshine as Corsica! 😆 But the mountains are good!
@@martindare9363 Hehe, yes! It would most likely have to be a last minute booking with the forecast looking promising :)

Awesome video once again Lyubo! Keep inspiring us to go on great hikes. :)
Thank you! Inspiring others is a big part of making these films. I just returned from a trip to Norway, so there should be a new (and shorter) film coming sometime in the future. Cheers!
@@luboyanev Cool! Looking forward to that one. Norway is also high on the bucket list.
@@beerdemus2812 Yes, Norway was a beautiful place, but it also brought its challenges, stay tuned!

Amazing. Thank you.
My pleaasure, thank you for your comment!
Amazing video!!! Thank you for sharing your esperience on gr20
My pleasure, Thank you for watching!
Fantastic video! Informative, beautiful and lots of atmosphere. What would you say are the top-5 most important things to know about hiking the GR20?
Thank you! And that's a good question! On the top of my head:
- Know how to get to the trailhead
- Know how much food you will need to carry (depending on estimated pace and if the huts are open and serving meals)
- Try to lower the weight of the gear, the GR20 has a lot of steep and rocky terrain, the heavier the pack the harder will be the experience
- Know which season you'll be hiking, summer might be very hot (I don't have personal experience with hiking it in the summer so it's only a guess)
- The trail is even prettier in real life
Happy hiking :)
awesome video...I hope to be able to do this hike one day
Thank you!! It's a wonderful (and sometimes challenging) hike, I hope you get a chance to do that too!
whoooooa ! Pressed the like button in the first few minutes :) Can't wait to see it all ! Great filming and naaration.
Thank you, hope you enjoyed it all the way till the end :)
Throwing down poles is my most consistent memory of gr20 descents. And feeling lost from time to time.
Haha, yea while going on the scrambling parts, one can't really have the trekking poles in the hands :D
Was really nice to watch. Thank you for such an amazing and informative video.
Thank you for watching! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing experience and wonderfull video memory you’ve created! Thank you for the inspiration, Lyubo.
By any chance do you have gpx files of your route/itinenary? Would love to repeat your journey this June.

Thank you, I am glad in was inspiring! And you could download a gpx file if you google E4 Bulgaria Fastest know time, and there is a link to the gpx file there. Happy hiking, I hope you get the chance to experience it!

Very beautiful, you can try Via Transilvanica in Romania!
It's a pretty long one :) I just looked at the website and looks like there is a solid organisation behind it, good job! I hope it attracts more people to explore the mountains in our balkan countries :) Cheers!
