Props to the guys taking their friend who OD'd to the firedepartment, they saved his life right there. Also props to the medics, firefighters and police in this video!
The story of the veteran with PTSD was heartbreaking. We need to do more to take care of our veterans. They sacrifice so much to protect us and then they come home and we don’t do enough to ensure that they are taken care of and get the services they need. I really appreciated the way everyone was respectful to him and understanding of his needs. God bless the veteran, his mom, and all involved with helping him.
I think its also because hes a trained soldier. They say all the time a well-trained person in anything will react automatically, especially in combat. He believed himself in combat, so as his mom said, he could come up swinging and fighting, which would have made it worse. They had to go slow and be respectful. He himself is a loaded gun, his body able to do quite a bit of damage, and in a seizure state you dont really respond to pain the same, so he could have literally hulked out, which again, would have made it much worse.. It is sad tho, and sad that hes on medicine and its clearly not very effective.
The guy with PTSD made me cry. I saw my best friend change so much, He had similar symptoms but it was terrifying. He took his own life in 2015. God bless our vets, and everything they've gone through for us.
The veteran one to this day still bothers me, not that it happened, that our men and women of combat are not given the proper care and treatment after battle. I watched this when it originally aired and still talk about it, I hope he is ok.
Men's mental health in general is largely overlooked by American charities. So much money goes toward other rare disease prevention organizations. Yet suicide is the largest killer of young men and veterans.

Absolute props to everyone featured in this video, they seem nothing short of professional. But I must say, certain parts of this make me so grateful to be Australian and receive the care I get. I had a bad night terror a few weeks ago and rolled off of my bed onto a solid tile floor, my partner heard me hit the ground and found me unconscious with a pool of blood under my head. I had a 4cm wide and 2cm long gash on the back of my head. The ambulance arrived within 10 minutes, I then had to be transferred onto a boat ambulance to get to the mainland, then onto another ambulance to get to the hospital. I had CT scans, my head was glued shut, I was given pain relief and even given a room to sleep in until the boats started again for me to get home. All I had to pay for was the taxi back to the dock. I'll never be more grateful for our system and the help they provide. Bless these guys, I just wish more people had access without fear of the finance involved.

@@faiththejedi1948 hmmm i never said it wasn't painful? Just read my comment again and im still confused as to where you got that from? Im sure it was extremely painful. No one deserves to face such serious traumas. I’m proud of and relieved with the way the officers dealt with the situation. Caring and patient. as a psych med student it's really hard to see a veteran suffering with ptsd it's obvious they need help and most of the times its not offered and instead there portrayed as crazy
I don't know, I don't think there's many people who don't have respect and gratitude for veterens with PTSD, or many people that just think they're crazy nutjobs. PTSD isn't something you can throw money at until it goes away, from my experience there is help available but unfortunately its basically incurable, although some people do respond to treatment better than others.

@@disliked1390 No Vets are looked after. The UK is just as bad.

Ty that means a lot to us.
It's quite exhausting and most people don't understand the multiple ways it affects us. It's not just flashbacks and stuff. The anxiety, depression, boredom etc is this biggest killing factor. Our brains don't shut off the fight or flight risk most of the time.
My BF has it, and he has nightmares regularly and episodes where he “shuts down”...combined with Fibromyalgia and migraine, so I have experience handling it...doesn’t mean it’s easy...
