Freeza is readying to destroy Planet Vegeta and the only one brave enough to stand up against him is Bardock. However, Bardock in base form is far too weak to stop Frieza. As he begins to think about Gine, Raditz, and Kakarot (Son Goku) - he's filled with sadness and rage. The kindness of Gine has rubbed off on Bardock enough that he can become the Super Saiyan.
Super Saiyan Bardock has a power level of 500,000 at most, while first form Frieza is at a power level of 530,000. As we already know though, being caught of guard can lead to someone strong losing to someone weak and because Friezais caught off guard by Super Saiyan Bardock he's taken down immediately.
While this story isn't What if Bardock went to Earth with Goku, nor is it What if Bardock and Gine went to Earth with Goku, nor is it What if Gine went to Earth with Goku. Some of those elements are present in this story.
Similarly, this isn't What If Bardock was King of the Saiyans nor is it What if Goku was Prince of the Saiyans, but some of those elements are present as well.

As a huge Bardock fan, this is the best possible outcome Bardock's story could have been, if it stayed consistent canonically lol, but it's sad that Raditz died trying to defend his father though and didn't get to see his father change a race of warrior's, to being similar to the Saiyan's in universe 6

I normally never find much to love about these alternate timelines, mostly due to out of character portrayals, but this one really captivated me and brought a tear to my eye at the end. It also made me realize how much I would love to see the original Dragonball reanimated and given a new breath of life.
Bardock's story has all the makings of a fantastic show. Hell, even if Grandpa Gohan died due to Goku losing control, that would simply show Bardock the fear of returning to monke.

I love how optimistic this ends up being while still roughly going along with Dragonball events. A lot of what-ifs make it clear that if X happens, things tend to turn out really horribly at some point and/or things change drastically. But no, this one ends with a saiyan race redeemed, Goku is still Goku but gets raised by his parents, and Bardock and his wife have a fairly peaceful life once King Cold is dealt with. The events of Dragonball still happen, but things turn out for the better overall.
Not to mention that Goku also got to spend more time with Grandpa Gohan, and possibly never lost his tail either as his parents would help him learn to handle and/or avoid the Great Ape form.

Looking back on this, sort of interesting how the Granolah Arc's depiction of Bardock actually echoes the ideas of this What-If's Bardock's wants to bring the Saiyan People (A world where their children don't have to suffer, echoed by Bardock saving Granolah)
Part that hits most is the Raditz comment. rather than laughing at his death like mediocre it was sincere and sad, You could feel that pain through the story. I believe offmof that alone sums up on how good this what if is. Awesome Job
I’m a bit late to the party, but I’ve been binge watching these “what if” scenarios before bed.
I just have to say, this one was truly beautiful, the others are exciting departures from canon but this.. this was special. Amazingly written and captures so much emotional impact, at least for me anyway as I’ve always loved Bardock.
The one where goku was born with God Ki is in my opinion the best one but I get what your saying

We can take around three options here
1: Goku didn't died fighting Raditz, and since Piccolo Jr is only seal, Kami-Sama exist so the dragon balls can be used to bring him back or just heal him
2: Bardock bring along some sayains blueprints, so Bulma would be able to build a recovery chamber and heal Goku
3: Bulma just get back on time to help cure Goku since they would be lacking one person to the Saiyan God Ritual (Bardock, Gine, Goten, Gohan and Broly doesn't match the needs, and since Bardock maybe would lack power to fight Bill even in God Form, Pan would't be enough to bring the full power Goku has)
We can go with two options here
1 since goku never went to yardrat he never got the heart virus and never died to it
But since many people agree that the heart virus wasn't from yardrat but from earth this is also fixable since grandpa gohan and gine would be with goku and he wouldn't live like an animal he wouldn't get the heart virus

Honestly even if he did go super Saiyan he wouldn't be able to beat Frieza bardocks base power level is 10,000 super Saiyan is only a 50 times multiplier so that would bring him up to 500,000 which first form freiza is 530,000

I must say, this what if is EXTREMELY interesting to me. Yeah sure, Carthu has posted dozens of other amazing what ifs, but this one just stands out to me. It truly is a work of art and Carthu deserves the credit. Not just for this what if, but for all of his amazing works.
This by far is the greatest what if I have ever listened too. It's full of hope, redemption, love, and optimism. Through this story, both the earth and the saiyans are able to have a future that is peaceful and endless

Yeah, but this what if is unrealistic considering that Bardock's power level is non canon. But I digress, all the events explained by Carthu is the closest most accurate take to the official.

Raditz always gets the short end of the stick, you should do a story where he turns good. Have it start with piccolo killing him and goku, but this time they meet in the afterlife, train together, and goku slowly changes his brothers demeanor like he does with all his old villains

I listened to many what ifs you made but this is surely my favorite. I'd love to see an animated version of this
Bardock had a PL of 10,000. After getting knocked around by Dodoria lets say his PL jumped to 15,000.
15000 x 50 = 750,000.
In short Bardock would wreck Frieza. Until he transforms; in which case, R.I.P. Bardock
Which is why Bardock would not allow Frieza to transform. Thankfully Frieza transforms slowly with the only fast transformation being the golden form which he doesn’t have at this point.

also when goku got to namek he was like 180k PL so bardock in ssj could drive a train on the whole namek arc

This was absolutely fantastic. Loved every second of it. Also, never realised that the earth deagonballs couldnt bring back someone without their body, or at least I forgot anyway. I think a cool adventure for them to go on after this would be to go to Namek to use their deagonballs to bring Raditz back, since they clearly could being Krillin and co back after over a year. So I see no reason they couldnt bring Raditz back. They could still learn of Namek by talking to Kami and Popo, since that's how they learned of it in the first place.
They possibly still could’ve went to namek but the chain of events that lead to them needing to go to namek never happened in the what if scenario since frieza is already dead and there’s no saiyan invasion

This is my favorite story by FAR! It focuses on my favorite dragon ball character and is a beautiful tale that I would love to read in-depth. The ending was wonderful and made me happy to see! Well done Carthu!!
Goku and Gine’s time at Kame house would likely be very rough on Roshi. Because his student sending them to him likely would mentioned her being married, and them essentially being a visiting divine royalty of a distant planet.
Meaning, the turtle hermit would have to hide his adult material stash extremely well, and instinctively be on his best behavior as a sensei and host.
Without a form of higher divine inauguration, Bardock being the king of the planet, essentially also made him the god as well all but unofficially.

You did really good on that grandpa Gohan voice bro ! You really captured that calm and softness that I always felt from the character when watching the show. I'm working on a dragon ball abridged fandub rn that cuts out some of the more lewd jokes from the first series, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in recording a few lines of dialogue for grandpa Gohan? I've finished the first episodes script if you're interested, and I added some dialogue for grandpa Gohan over Goku's wood cutting training in the first episode.
Here's the line for reference,
Gohan's voice echos: "Practice these poses every day. I know you have a lot of natural strength Goku, but strength isn't everything, you must have equal amounts of control and focus. Strength is no substitution for hard work."
Nothing crazy, but I felt like it was in character for Gohan to say that, and for Goku to remember that while doing a training exercise that they most likely used to do together.
