A quick way of finding the two matching digits in the squares of 1-9 is to only check the squares of 1-5. The other "matching" number will always be the one that when added to the first matching number, will add to 10. Example: if I had the number 1746, I would know that my last digit could be either 4 (4x4 = 1 *6* ), or 6 (6 + *4* = 10)
Next time my teacher says there is no way to accurately calculate a square root I’ll be sitting in the back of the class smirking and not saying anything bc I’m to shy

They used to make my head spin and i was SOOO lost that I was afraid of asking questions . even if I did ask questions...the teachers could never help me understand so I ended up shutting up and failing all my math classes. I gave up. But now...with youtube and Google...i realized math is incredibly beautiful and filled with patterns and proofs. I now understand WHY the hypotenuse is equal to the squares of the two sides. Thanks to you I understand how to find the square root in a way that makes sense. If they use it to understand it will greatly help.

If a number is divisible by 4, its square leaves a remainder 0 when divided by 8.
Square of even number not divisible by 4 leaves remainder 4 while square of an odd number always leaves remainder 1 when divided by 8.
Total numbers of prime factors of a perfect square are always odd.

A quick way of finding the two matching digits in the squares of 1-9 is to only check the squares of 1-5. The other "matching" number will always be the one that when added to the first matching number, will add to 10. Example: if I had the number 1746, I would know that my last digit could be either 4 (4x4 = 1 *6* ), or 6 (6 + *4* = 10)
Thats actually really smart thanks
Am I doing something wrong? The method says the answer should be 44 but it’s actually 42?
@@LilacMorelli no. 42 squared would be 1764, not 1746. 1746 is simply not a perfect square. The example was a bit sub-optimal.
Smartttt
Next time my teacher says there is no way to accurately calculate a square root I’ll be sitting in the back of the class smirking and not saying anything bc I’m to shy
I sincerely doubt they said that. It can even be done by hand. There is an algorithm for it just like long division.
@@Red-Brick-Dream really? What is it?
@@minecrafting_il Square root button on my TI-89. Ha ha.
Technically it’s not actually fully accurate, so your teacher is right.

WOW a video from 5 years ago is teaching me faster and easier than my own advanced math teacher 😭
If you're learning "advanced math," you're supposed to be well beyond basic arithmetic. They're not teaching you this stuff for the same reason a high school English teacher isn't teaching you the alphabet.
its 6 years now
another little trick, you dont really need to memorize the square roots.. the last numbers have a ladder pattern.. up then down kinda thing.. 1 pairs with 9, 2 with 8, 3 with 7, 4 with 6, and 5 is alone
I noticed that also.
OH WOW THANK U
@@halaalnajjar1154 hahaha no problem xD
I don’t get it plz explain
@@tribalbyron2598 Like 1 and 9 both end with 1, 2 and 8 both end with 4, 3 and 7 both end with 9, etc.

I found this video sooo many years later. You are a legenddddd. You cleared my confusion of 4 years in 10 minutes AHHHHH
I can't wait to put this skill into practice and make my math teacher jelaous
Share it with teacher and whole class: you're de hero then
Wow! I absolutely HATED math in high school...now at age 75 I finally learned how to find square roots of numbers!! Thank you! It's actually fun! Sort of like knowing the 'secret' behind the magic trick! This is something my teachers never knew how to do.
Good for you! Coolest old guy.
@handiman5 congrats for your eternal life

In high school, my listening is very good and I can’t understand my match teacher when it comes to square root.
Now, I am in my mid 40’s and I have a slower mind but I understood everything you’ve explained and it was a piece of cake.
I'm 62 and always hated doing math at school, I wish that you were around back in the 60's, I think I would've done a hell of a lot better. Thanks, it'll be good brain training.
@@blackairforcepolice169 I sure am. What makes you think I'm not??

Bob Mag, That’s for sure 😂
I am 36 now...i was awful at math in school and I didnt understand why. It made absolutely no sense to me these formulas.
All the pieces are finally coming together. I am obsessed with mathematics now...and patterns. I am glad this generation has youtube and Google in a way. If they use it to understand it will greatly help.
I'm not even kidding, this is one of the best Math videos in the world!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING AND SHARING THIS VIDEO.
[short story]
*10 minutes prior the video*
"ah.. this video is nearly 10 minutes long :( I'll watch it later..." - me
"dude. If you don't watch it now. You'll never watch it later. Trust me, watch it, learn it and you will not regret it" - me to myself
*10 minutes later*
"Thank you so much for motivating me ;v;;; You literally are the best 'counter-procrastination' friend"
[bottom line]
The way to stop procrastinating is to prove to myself that you can overcome something this easy and small (or at least, that is how I personally do it)
Lastly, I'd just like to say that we are all capable of overcoming, if not more then less, ourselves in our everyday lives. I BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE CAN!!!
Thanks for taking your time to write that :)
