Your game looks awesome! Definitely gonna be buying it after this vid. Krugg gets a video, you get a sale, we get entertainment and challenge. Everyone wins! Loving the Dunmer vibe, by the way. Walk like the gods until they walk like you.
Ya know Krugg, most of us would be more than happy to see you play and draw other games like Achra, Cataclysm DDA, Caves of Qud, etc. just so you don't get burn out 💛 Variety is the spice of life, after all~
@@Postdotfuzz It would certainly be easier to understand than whenever I try to play it! More often than not I end up just wandering around until something kills me: Me: Ok, I’ve made a character, now what? Caves of Qud: Go forth and do great things! Me: …what does that mean exactly? Caves of Qud: Yes Me: THATS NOT AN AN - and I died
The dev is honestly amazing. There was a period where there were pretty much daily patches and updates. It's clear this game means a lot to them, with how much time they've spent tuning and adding things
Just realized … Honeystoker series brought me here and I’ve never missed an upload since then. Your videos are simply something unique and right up my alley. 🔥
I love Path of Achra. I bought it when it came out last spring and was OBSESSED with trying all the different builds. The developer still releases balance updates and keeps adding more to the game, so any fans of old school roguelikes who haven't tried it yet should grab it!
How you changed up your style of narrative for this game was such a great fit, it's genuinely impressive how much you shifted things from your usual stylings here and how well it all works, i really loved this one you ever thought about doing something with Caves of Qud? seeing you do what you do with that game and its world and vibe would be absolutely wonderful
I wanted to say the same, and then he say he wanted to make it even more insane ☠ I was here sittin like, what you mean more insane? Bruh. This already was magnificent.
This was so cool man, just casually dropping like a 20 minutes animation essentially. Thinking about animating ten times this much material sounds unthinkable honestly
I found your channel yesterday and I’ve already binged 70% of your steam release content. I am in LOVE with your gameplay and you/your wife’s art both. Thank you so much for providing us all with these incredible stories. I only started playing DF about a year ago now myself, but your vids have shown me just how much more there can be to a fort when you just take a little bit of time to appreciate everything on a smaller level. I have no idea what this vid is going to entail, but if it’s from you I know it’ll be amazing
Make sure to watch the pre steam release ones too, theyre a treat, even if its gritty on the eyes. I watched it all before steam even was announced lol, i always wanted to get into DF but couldnt back then ☠ (it was a skill issue lol, at least now i managed to force myself to learn CDDA, took me over 100h zzz, if you like dwarf fortress i highly recommend you check that game out aswell)
Welcome among us bearded bastards! Scorchfountain's saga (Scorchfountain, Chamberpoint and Watchful eyes) has some great storytelling. I highly recommend that!
The story of waddlesquash with the pumpin heads is incredible. Its probably my favorite of all the series he's posted, either that or splatterface. Welcome to the community.
Very interesting seeing you take your storytelling to a genre that kind of defies it. Roguelikes are random and it's certainly possible some kind of story can exist in this way, but scene to scene it's going to be disjointed and it's fun seeing someone go, "What if it was cohesive though, what does that tell us about this world?" Also, this was extremely high quality work and you can see the effort on screen! I'm not surprised it took a while though the experience has probably levelled up many of your production skills!
Wowee that was a magnificent video!!! I loved it loved it loved it! This is an amazing work of art, so much that i lack the vocabulary to describe how awesome (in its most literal sense) this video was!
Path of Achra was the first game in a while that inspired me to try and 100% a game. After all the updates I now need to get all the new achievements, but its still been one of my favorite rogurelike experiences. Love your videos and I agree with others that we'd love to see you play whatever games you feel like. You have such a great way of telling a story. Looking forward to the next one.
This was probably your best video yet! The storytelling, the artwork - both recognisably your style and also matching the pixel art dark fantasy of the game - work fantastically together.
Absolutely stunning! I loved the aesthetic and the way you narrated everything. It really does feel like the origin myth of some grand hero of legend, something like hercules. I hope we get to see the rest of the run!
I at least had fun watching this. You are a good storyteller. I can feel my inner child being entranced by way you paint the scenes, as if you were reading from a book in a theatrical way. I love it.
I love this! Just started getting into Achra myself. Your poetic language here is absolutely fantastic - it's something we only get glimpses of with Dwarf Fortress, but you really went for it here and it's super fun. Thanks for putting this out there.
there's a traditionally animated adaptation of Beowulf from 1998 narrated by Sir Derek Jacobi that I have absolutely loved since I was a child, and this reminded me strongly of it. the hero's tale, depicted in a strange dream-like fashion, narrated like a story told around a fire in a great hall
this is one of the coolest ideas i have seen in a long time. taking a game with realitvely limited graphics and retelling it in absolutely amzing pixel art is fantastic!
Would honestly watch you play any rogue game, keep this up! I would just like to see a longer behind the scenes of any game that's new to the channel. Mostly so I can get hyped or excited about any new game you play.
This was incredible! The drawings and the story telling where very impressive. I love your Dwarf Fortress stuff, of course, but more forays into this kind of stuff would be most welcome.
This was really great, both the narration and theme-appropriate framing, I am absolutely invested in the future of this little cabal of pilgrims and their champion trying to escape their apocalypse.
Boi. That was amazing! This is so full of 90s metal! I loved every second of it! Props to you for the awesome art and hats off to the dev for such a piece of art!
This was freaking amazing! You could totally apply this storytelling method to any story game, Rimworld, Kenshi, CDDA; this was so engaging. I would have said that it was a bit jarring from the usual content but once I figured out it was a new type of storytelling you were trying out I was so engaged with the story you were telling.
Wonderfully done as always. A bit of a start contrast to the cozy moments from Dwarf Fortress, but I love the Conan/Dark Fantasy vibes. Thank you for all you do Kruggs!!
Definitely some of the sleekest and prettiest pixel animation I have seen from Krugg! (That way the mass of living gold moved and transformed was so good) it is quite impressive you did this by yourself and all the hard work you poured into it really shows. 🏅
Forgot to comment when I watched this, but I loved the storytelling in this video! All the art of the actions was incredibly cool and you kept a very interesting mood throughout the video! I love how interesting and kinda scary you made the pile of living gold feel too! This felt like a proper morbid action story/show.
Well, I've wishlisted the game thanks to this vid. You really put a great amount of effort into narration and art and everything and that really sold me. That, and it giving me the vibes of playing in Conan the Barbarian or Elric's dark fantasy world with the aesthetic it has going on. Hope to see you tackle more Path of Achra even though I came here for Dwarf Fortress. Or hell, any game. Your storytelling in art just makes a lot of games shine. Keep up the good work!
These animations are so well made and implemented that I would believe they are a part of the game. The video was worth the wait, and you should continue playing this game if you enjoy it.
This is sick, instantly wishlisted the game and I love your pixel art. Your intros are great, so seeing that for the whole game is just a real wow factor. Very cool, very cool.
I've been in love with this game for months now, and it's so great to see one of my favorite UA-camrs giving it some attention! Haven't even watched the vid yet, but I know it will be good.
That was awesome, I greatly enjoyed the narrative and you really nailed that 'mythic fantasy' vibe! I would love more videos about other games alongside DF!
I really, really, really hope you can make more videos of this game... The Gold Coin demon/slime as an idea is awesome and I wanna see more of this world and your amazing art
Loved it Krugg! Very different style but it totally fits with the game and the narrative style you chose. Hope to see more of it or different projects (Caves of Qud???)
You spent a lot of time on this and it shows, awesome stuff man, absolutely worth the wait in my book. All the animations and pixel art really enthralled me in the story.
This was great fun! The animations you did looked really, really good; I was constantly impressed by how smoothly they transitioned and how naturally the figures moved.. I always find that kind of thing inspiring :) I definitely missed seeing your regular uploads while you were working on this video, but my feeling is that I'd rather miss your content while you take your time doing something that excites you than just have you upload all the time. This was cool! Thank you for sharing it with us :)
Man, that was soo cool! What a magnificent story you put together with clearly a whole bunch of effort in the artwork. Glad you've found Path of Achra, it's such a great Lil broken build game :)
I am really, REALLY digging your art style here Krugg. I know it is inspired by the game, but I've been around the channel since Monsterkiller and I dare say this is some of your best work yet.
Absolutely amazing. A truly elevating piece of dark fantasy. Thank you so much for this video, I am honored beyond words
Thank you for inspiring my creativity, dude. this game deserves a lot more love. Keep on killing it, Ulf :)
I dont draw much anymore but my victories (and now this) have inspired me to draw the final versions of each victory. Masterful work, both of you.
Your game looks awesome! Definitely gonna be buying it after this vid. Krugg gets a video, you get a sale, we get entertainment and challenge. Everyone wins!
Loving the Dunmer vibe, by the way. Walk like the gods until they walk like you.

I would love a Caves of Qud series from Krugg OMG yes please!

Caves of Qud would lend itself perfectly to Krugg's style.
More cataclysm, please!
A simple a beautiful saying. One of my favorites
The dev is honestly amazing. There was a period where there were pretty much daily patches and updates. It's clear this game means a lot to them, with how much time they've spent tuning and adding things

For Derlesholid! I been here a while too lol
Been watching since monsterkiller. I still get excited whenever I see krugg in my subscription feed
SAME with Monsterkiller. krugg is the goat
An excellent visual primer for Achra, and you've emulated the style of the art so well and given it life with motion! Wonderful video!

This is an amazing level of story telling and editing. Not to mention the extra art you've woven in. Really an amazing job.
Such incredible work! Love that you leaned into that dark, almost psychedelic look of games like this, and I love the writing you did
Well done! This gave me serious Vermis vibes!

Wonderful story. You made it less of a gameplay video and more of an audiobook. Really good. The artwork was nice too.
