This is turning out to be one my favorite forts of yours, maybe because you kept it small in the beginning, making it feel so eventful, as we got to know what set the first 7 dwarves apart and how they complemented each other. It was a truly engaging ensemble cast. On a kind of related note, I find it fascinating that Emmy is so young and already so formidable, she really got that protagonist energy going for her, pretty sure Tiny would be proud. Also, it's really funny that Stack became some sort of unassuming globetrotting hero after Nökortorad, she does not seem to be resting on her laurels and instead travels around, living a simple life and making cameos in one fort after the other.
You might have to worry about invaders soon with the two families being so profilic. Maybe not armies just yet, but I bet we getting close to some werewolf and vampire shenanigans. And oh, with the artifacts being made you probably gonna have to deal with thieves coming around, guests trying to steal them and whatnot.
Another amazing episode. I love how you depict the artifacts! Really cool that Spearcarvern got it's first artifact AND second artifact this episode. I also really like how you explain the process of getting dwarves to use the materials you want them to, that must have been such a pain but wow did your efforts pay off! Thanks for uploading
What you said about wisp, and as I've watched another person's dwarf fortress streams on twitch some time ago, I did notice there was a major lack of support for dwarves with handicaps or disabilities of different kinds. I am quite worried for her, that it truly might be it if the strange mood makes her go insane. Sadder yet the ones that go "stark raving mad" and babble to themselves whilst wandering the fort without their outfit or go catatonic and just sit there sad and don't do anything never drink any more alcohol of their own accord and leave the dwarves behind with their dehydrated body. I've seen people experiment with the possibility of them being in a situation where other dwarves are forced to care for them (Jailed / stuck injured in a hospital) but the guy I was watching wasn't able to act on it before the dwarf got too far along in their condition. I think it's possible to save insane dwarves but you'd have to plan a few steps ahead and count on good luck(?) to even have that happen. (Very well possible they can explode on their compatriots instead, probably one of the worst results.)
Emmy artefact?? Ohoho, how exciting! Can't wait, though I also can't wait for some more Aecius so I shall have to wait for one of them! Definitely in full agreement about dwarves helping dwarves... It feels like it's so close to being in there. By the way, this series is full of some of my favourite art of yours. Absolutely magnificent all the way through.
I’d say Give wisp the ability to grab tools during a strange mood, People are still able to sculpt, machine or paint, using their teeth and feet, since she has been training these up since he loss of hand functions I’d say there’s a good enough lore reason to say the strange mood combined with her newly developed dexterity with her legs and mouth, allowed her to crank out a masterpiece. Really tho as skilled of a warrior as she is, someone should have built her a prosthetic glove with a closed hand around a spear, Somthing like Guts would have in Beezerk!

Just a suggestion, wait until Wisp gets a strange mood, use DFHack to restore her grasping (if you can) and cancel the mood. Bam, she used the mood to build a prosthetic/prostheses. Also, love the consistent design between the forts!
… This is one of those cases where I’d be totally fine with the rules of DF being broken so that a dwarf can be given their rightful chance to become a legend instead of languishing away due to some system jank. >):^/

So cool you're getting artifacts made now! I always love seeing how you interpret the games descriptions of things in the art you create, and artifacts are yet another opportunity for awesome Krugg designs!
I really really wish there was something like that in DF. I feel like a dwarf who can't "grasp" should still be able to take care of themselves somewhat, even if doing so takes a long long time. There are crutches in the game that a dwarf who cannot walk will use to get around. I feel there should be a similar item like that to grasp, maybe. Even if there isn't though, a handicapped dwarf shouldn't be *totally* incapable of certain things. It's a little frustrating.
hey, any chance we could get a print of rofa at some point? i really love its design, and theres some beautiful art of it standing majestically in the swamp (from the first episode i think) that i would love to have on my wall

I commented a while back that I'd like to see some DFHack usage to promote better storytelling. In this case, restoring a hand or two. Prosthetics are totally a realistic thing for our master craftsdwarves to make. Even if they're not a thing in vanilla DF.
I think Wisp may be a good argument for limited use of DFHack to restore limited use of her hands, especially if she gets possessed. Maintain the weaponless fighting style, and maybe restrict her labors to only whatever her mood was related to. Make a story out of it, instead of merely letting her go crazy and either kill someone else/force someone to kill her... or starve to death.
I think I'm gonna research, why some pickaxes have two pointy ends and others just one. Two seems unnecessary to me and one blunt end would allow for the use of a hammer.
@@kruggsmash I found out, that both sides of a pickaxe are actually not the same. One is pointy and the other is flat and used for prying. Still like your design tho'. :)
You may have to heal Wisp with DF Hack, i think its the only way she survives a Strange Mood,. Specially because she gets violent when angry. Meaning it could start a brawl, and you have a bunch of children. Meaning you could lose the entire future of the fortress if she goes on a tantrum and kids are around. And she is the Forgotten Beast Slayer, would be cool to see her return and fight in the arena.
One of the great things with the amount of children being brought into life is when they start to grow up, you'll eventually begin to see the labor shortage problem widdle away. I think that's one of the bigger issues Spearcavern is facing; there's so many little things that need to be done. It's not like the days of old, our little hole in the ground has grown to the beginnings of a true fortress, and that means plenty of maintenance to ensure everything is working as it should. Maybe when the dwarves don't have their hands full can they maybe start to go back to their roots and work on that monster problem below their feet... I was beginning to worry about the animal situation. There's a lot of them, and that probably keeps the few animal tamers extremely busy. With so many animals and so few dwarves to keep them tamed, you run the risk of a rogue bird hurting or (the Gods forbid) killing one of the children. THAT BEING SAID.. I'd think it'd be awesome to see some giant dingoes bred and trained up considering you captured a couple! They may not have put up much of a fight, but that's probably because they went up against a trio of legendary fighters. Something to think about considering we're getting closer and closer to the possibility of a dreaded siege. Sorry for the little essay, this episode was really turning the cogs in my mind and wanted to put it into writing. Been following the series since the beginning and it has genuinely become one of the best that you've put out, and I'd argue that's saying something given the quality of all the other fortresses and stories you've helped to create in the past years. I don't usually comment, but hey here you go. Loved this episode especially. P.S. I think using DFHack as a tool would be totally fine, the focus is on the story and I don't think anyone would be upset if you used it to help solve some of the more "annoying" issues you're facing when it comes to the game mechanics that you may find less roleplay friendly (especially the situation with Wisp, the poor girl).
Not sure if it has already been stated, but Dwarves without the ability to grasp should be ineligible for Strange Moods. Love the videos, and very excited for the Artifacts and the seemingly pacifist bend to them.
I will also say that I am unfamiliar with the Strange Mood icons, so every time one popped up I was terrified it was a Fell Mood and someone was going to die.
Absolutely try and tame Rofa that would be so cool. Taming the animal people seams a little morally questionable but would be pretty cool to see nonetheless.

Glad to see Krugg got caught in a strange mood of his own to create yet another legendary Dwarf Fortress video
This channel is like comfort food to me. It's just so cozy to sit back and relax to a story from Uncle Krugg.
28:35 Typical Baby: "She needs alcohol to get through the working day" very typical for a baby.
100% yeah. Totally normal child behavior.
@@kruggsmash "Dwarven Milk" ;)
… Dwarves are just built different, M8. >)X^D
I’m up early making bacon and was just in time to watch this hit my feed. Today is gonna be a good day! Thanks for all the work you do!
This is a stack of 5 pig meat biscuits.
Stack getting that pick is really fitting given her heroic efforts in the past.
Listening to this in the background is the only thing keeping me sane at work today.
Hang in there my friend! You'll get through it :)
love that pop's priest regalia is a callback to northbridge! it's been so fun seeing this culture develop over multiple fortresses
Perfect first artifact. It is kinda like this series, showing the history of this fortress.
Back is absolutely chill.
100% yeah. a good kid
I think it would be reasonable for the gods to restore function to Wisp's dead arm, should she be gifted a strange mood.
Every time a Kruggsmash video comes out makes for a great day.
I love the dwarf fortress videos, they never fail to entertain. I always want to sing the Diggy Diggy Hole song whenever a Kruggsmash posts one of his DF videos.
Brothers of the mine rejoice!
Swing swing swing with me!
Raise your pic and raise your voice!
Sing sing sing with me!
Down and down into the deep!
Who knows what we'll find beneath!?
Diamonds, rubies, gold, and more!
Hidden in the mountain's core!
Born underground!
Suckled from with teeth of stone!
Raised in the dark!
In the safety of our mountain home!
Skin made of iron!
Steel in our bones!
To dig and dig makes us free!
Come on brothers sign with me!
I am a dwarf and I am digging a hole! Diggy diggy hole! Diggy diggy hole!

This is a great video to start the day! Your videos i think really showcase what the creators intended when they started
Thats what I hope to do! Gotta play it more like a tabletop roleplaying game than anything else. Thats how you get the most out of it

Just finished this series and excited for the next episode :)
I love The Grand Granite Shrine loads! I'd also love one day to see the Home Fortress in this world. Man, I hope this series just keeps goin!
@ 28:15 Krugg's introducing Snack and says she's a "good, typical dwarf child" -then I read the last bit of her in-game description: "she needs alcohol to get through the day" LOL, yeeep, dwarven child indeed
Just a suggestion, wait until Wisp gets a strange mood, use DFHack to restore her grasping (if you can) and cancel the mood. Bam, she used the mood to build a prosthetic/prostheses. Also, love the consistent design between the forts!
That'd be a great story bit explanation for Wisp's problem. Awesome idea.
… This is one of those cases where I’d be totally fine with the rules of DF being broken so that a dwarf can be given their rightful chance to become a legend instead of languishing away due to some system jank. >):^/
Dang, I started watching and this video was at about 20 likes. By the end, you hit 100. It's fun to see these videos take off like that, and another good installment in the Spearcavern saga!
I am happy people still watch this series! it is very good to see :)
i love this series and these dwarves so much!!
At this rate half if the fortress is gonna be Queen Bee's and Boggy's kids.
So cool you're getting artifacts made now! I always love seeing how you interpret the games descriptions of things in the art you create, and artifacts are yet another opportunity for awesome Krugg designs!
Krugg, I cannot stress this enough: I absolutely adore your videos.

Smack is pretty good, but I think Crack would have been even better for a wild child.
Emmy has become so much like her mother. She would have been so proud.
Dwarf fortress - babysitting 👶 edition
Honestly, yeah. Getting a bit overwhelming haha
I know in Gnomoria there was a late game way to make prosthetics. I kind of wish this would be added to DF.
@@kruggsmash Agreed. Even something simple like a hook... I'd love a hooked dwarf. :)

Meanwhile, Steelcltutches-Krugg: "Throw it onto the pile and get back to work!"
We've come a long way since then. He was so crude in speech, also.

Oh boy, I can testify picks can be formidable weapons in this game.
A steel artifact pick? In the hands of a legendary miner? Stuff of legends, I tell ya.
lovely episode as always !
I don't much about the game, but maybe that copper forgotten beast could be melted down ? it will be one hell of a smelter tho
Hrmm, we'll have to test out this melting hypothesis after we put an end to that menace
The crabs artifact is priceless! A fantastic memorial to the founding of Spearcavern. It doesnt need diamond halls or platinum floors, it’s home! Made by dwarves of an age gone by.
One has left them, and soon enough more will, but that tablet will honor them unto eternity.
don't let those giant dingos anywhere near the babies :P

Spear Cavern is coming up in the world.
It really is! Big time.
I knew you'd upload soon! Always great to see you, Krugg.
Every episode a gem
I commented a while back that I'd like to see some DFHack usage to promote better storytelling. In this case, restoring a hand or two. Prosthetics are totally a realistic thing for our master craftsdwarves to make. Even if they're not a thing in vanilla DF.
Great episode! Lovely to see some strange moods for the first time!
GIANT DINGOS COMING FOR THE BABIES!
Wack also making an artifact based on their founding history is also amazing. You can just feel the community they have.
See, this i what i'm thinking. good for smashing apart things
@@kruggsmash I found out, that both sides of a pickaxe are actually not the same. One is pointy and the other is flat and used for prying. Still like your design tho'. :)
@@Robert-vk7je … Ah, learn somethin’ new every day, eh? >):^D
Como eu amo esse canal. DF é uma ótima ferramenta de criar histórias, mas a forma como esse bastardo barbudo conta essa história é maravilhoso, e seus desenhos são muito bons.
