At the gate they checked your vaccine card, mySOS app, and for an ongoing or return ticket. Once you get there basically just checked your ID and then the mySOS again and again!! Then you make your way to immigrations and they do a normal passport check!

There are few Japanese who can speak English and they are shy, so I think few people will talk to you, but if you are in trouble, please ask the Japanese around you for help. 99 out of 100 people will try to help you.

@@IfWeGoTo Let's say it's not that bad because more foreigners have chance to come to Japan, especially those from other Asian countries who have been feeling Japan is expensive. It's difficult for me to go abroad right now but I enjoy watching foreign visitors and try to help them as I had been helped in foreign countries in the past.
The area of Asakusa you visited near Sen soji closes pretty early at night. At like 8pm or so it's almost a ghost town. Best to visit very early before the tourist rush and just before shops open to get what you want without waiting. I recommend visiting Ninja bar asakusa. It's located in one of tokyo's older underground streets and its filled with great people.
It did make us want to stay longer this time!! but the reason we chose to go is because we want to travel Asia and japan is a major transit hub that we had to route through anyways. We’ve been before and loved it so thought more time here would be cool!! 😃

If you have got a eat for Tako-yaki and Okonomiya-yaki in Osaka best ever!! Please don’t eat for Okonomiyaki in Osaka. Osaka is more friendship so much! You can eat for the Yaki-saba too. It will eat at Izakakaya. What do you need some pieces? Clothes? or sneakers? These are different things. If you getting some pieces l, you can tax free. Do love the anime? It is at Akihabara. It has JR line at Akihabara station from near Tokyo station. Then it will get some pretty stuffs there. Pokemon, Dragonball and thr One peace too. It is a lots. If you want to some cosmetics, it will get at the drug store. These are Matsumoto Kiyoshi shop a lots in there. Shiseido, kose are Japanese brand which is made in Japan all of them! You will get great great amazing pieces

If you have got know , please let you know. I do love fashion so much. You should go to Shinjuku! It has a number one department shop there. It is a ' Shinjuku Isetan'. I do recommend!!
Yes!! We plan on visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, lake Kawaguchiko, Nara, Kobe, Himeji, Osaka, and Hiroshima! We’ll definitely try out the Tako-yaki in Osaka! The Okonomiyaki is popular in Hiroshima right?? We have a friend that lives there and loves it!! I need a new small camera bag!! Mine just broke! And jeans. And winter clothing like thermals! We saw some at Don Quijote but do you think other places are a better??

It was a fantastic deal!! We stayed a bit outside of the "ideal" area, but still close to trains so nothing is too far! If it's your first time to Tokyo I would recommend staying more centrally though! :) To find good deals on Airbnb, set your dates/requirements on search and look around for cheap prices with good reviews! Longer stays (weekly or monthly) get you greater discounts usually! Planning ahead at least 2-3 months helps find better deals too. Options get slimmer the closer you get to your trip dates. I'm leaving for Tokyo 2 weeks from Friday! I'm a little worried because I lost my original vaccination card and I only have a copy (it's a copy of all my vaccination history from the department of health..not the original document though). Do you think that will be okay? 😭
Oh man, that’s a tough one! For us, they only checked the vaccination card in-person at the gate to the airline. They checked the card through their health app otherwise, and in Japan they only checked the app. I would try filling the MySOS app right now to see if they approve it and contact your airline. Otherwise I’d head to the place you for your vaccine card from and beg them to write you a new one!
Awesome!!! Make sure you call your airline too just to double check, because they checked ours at the gate! They even made us talk to a manager because we had an ongoing ticket instead of a return! Lol. I’d imagine something from the department of health looks even more official though! Good luck!! And enjoy Japan! 😃
Seems like inflation is getting everyone right now. 😢 Definitely still cheaper than back home though, holy smokes it’s getting out of control in North America and Europe!
We was shocked to get inflation, so many things was cheaper only a few months ago. And with the yen being so weak it's really tough now. It's a good thing we have a decent salary to survive it.

Then the absolute longest layover (30hours) in Haneda🤦🏽♂️ then leave for Bangkok Dec 1st. Mes amies, it will be amazing trip but Japan Airlines is hard to get in touch with. So here we are 😆

I’d say for *most* people it was not easy to enter and was closed, but yes, you could enter on certain visas ofc hahahah. Glad you could enjoy it before tourism came back in full swing. 😊
Oh yes, it is much cheaper than it used to be! It’s kind of nice because the US and Europe have gotten ridiculously expensive. We paid about 2000 yen for 5 apples right before we left. 😩 we will happily stay here a while!!
Fruits are always expensive in Japan , each time i got there i almost avoid to eat some and it is hard. But in some supermarket you can find good price , less than in the family market or seven/eleven or departement store food basement. In fact depending where you are staying , but if you do not stay in the tourist area , you can find fair price. For example i stayed a lot in the Nihonbashi's area and there price are good. Less tourist. ;) This is where i will stay again in January 23

Can I ask how long does it take to get through customs in Japan? I am traveling from Hawaii too and was wondering how long did it take you guys to get through when you landed in Japan? I wanted to book a taxi for my family and Idk how long it would take for us to be able to get our bags and through customs to go to our reserved taxi on time.
It only took us maybe 20 minutes for the whole process, but I would allow a little extra time!! It’s probably a little busier now. Check for airport shuttles and airport transfers specifically!! I’m not sure if Japan does them, but I would be surprised if they didn’t. Those services are like the guys who wait for you with your name on a card, they usually track your flight and are a bit more flexible!

It actually was pretty good!!! Especially for a budget airline.

The area of Asakusa you visited near Sen soji closes pretty early at night. At like 8pm or so it's almost a ghost town. Best to visit very early before the tourist rush and just before shops open to get what you want without waiting. I recommend visiting Ninja bar asakusa. It's located in one of tokyo's older underground streets and its filled with great people.
Sensoji is so beautiful!! We were there a bit early and definitely agree that it gets very crowded! Especially on the weekend!!
Was the weak yen one of the reasons you wanted to go to Japan?
It did make us want to stay longer this time!! but the reason we chose to go is because we want to travel Asia and japan is a major transit hub that we had to route through anyways. We’ve been before and loved it so thought more time here would be cool!! 😃

You should eat for Sushi, Gyudon, Ramen, Gyoza, Udon, Soba, curry rice, Chinese food (It is in Japanese only foods.) and Yaki-niku.

If you have got a eat for Tako-yaki and Okonomiya-yaki in Osaka best ever!! Please don’t eat for Okonomiyaki in Osaka. Osaka is more friendship so much! You can eat for the Yaki-saba too. It will eat at Izakakaya.
What do you need some pieces? Clothes? or sneakers? These are different things. If you getting some pieces l, you can tax free.
Do love the anime? It is at Akihabara. It has JR line at Akihabara station from near Tokyo station.
Then it will get some pretty stuffs there. Pokemon, Dragonball and thr One peace too. It is a lots.
If you want to some cosmetics, it will get at the drug store. These are Matsumoto Kiyoshi shop a lots in there. Shiseido, kose are Japanese brand which is made in Japan all of them! You will get great great amazing pieces
And I have been to USA in 5 times only LA. I have great friends there.

You should go to Shinjuku! It has a number one department shop there. It is a ' Shinjuku Isetan'. I do recommend!!

It was a fantastic deal!! We stayed a bit outside of the "ideal" area, but still close to trains so nothing is too far! If it's your first time to Tokyo I would recommend staying more centrally though! :)
To find good deals on Airbnb, set your dates/requirements on search and look around for cheap prices with good reviews! Longer stays (weekly or monthly) get you greater discounts usually! Planning ahead at least 2-3 months helps find better deals too. Options get slimmer the closer you get to your trip dates.

I'm leaving for Tokyo 2 weeks from Friday! I'm a little worried because I lost my original vaccination card and I only have a copy (it's a copy of all my vaccination history from the department of health..not the original document though). Do you think that will be okay? 😭
Oh man, that’s a tough one! For us, they only checked the vaccination card in-person at the gate to the airline. They checked the card through their health app otherwise, and in Japan they only checked the app.
I would try filling the MySOS app right now to see if they approve it and contact your airline. Otherwise I’d head to the place you for your vaccine card from and beg them to write you a new one!

Awesome!!! Make sure you call your airline too just to double check, because they checked ours at the gate! They even made us talk to a manager because we had an ongoing ticket instead of a return! Lol.

I live in Kanagawa, grocery prices went up in Japan but still it is cheaper than my home in Canada.
Seems like inflation is getting everyone right now. 😢 Definitely still cheaper than back home though, holy smokes it’s getting out of control in North America and Europe!
We was shocked to get inflation, so many things was cheaper only a few months ago. And with the yen being so weak it's really tough now. It's a good thing we have a decent salary to survive it.
My only question is how do you guys get the funds for this

Then the absolute longest layover (30hours) in Haneda🤦🏽♂️ then leave for Bangkok Dec 1st. Mes amies, it will be amazing trip but Japan Airlines is hard to get in touch with. So here we are 😆

To be fair,... Japan was not closed depending on your visa status. I was back last August and it was so peaceful in Kyoto (like it used to be ...)
I’d say for *most* people it was not easy to enter and was closed, but yes, you could enter on certain visas ofc hahahah.

Oh yes, it is much cheaper than it used to be! It’s kind of nice because the US and Europe have gotten ridiculously expensive. We paid about 2000 yen for 5 apples right before we left. 😩 we will happily stay here a while!!
Fruits are always expensive in Japan , each time i got there i almost avoid to eat some and it is hard. But in some supermarket you can find good price , less than in the family market or seven/eleven or departement store food basement. In fact depending where you are staying , but if you do not stay in the tourist area , you can find fair price. For example i stayed a lot in the Nihonbashi's area and there price are good. Less tourist. ;)

Can I ask how long does it take to get through customs in Japan? I am traveling from Hawaii too and was wondering how long did it take you guys to get through when you landed in Japan? I wanted to book a taxi for my family and Idk how long it would take for us to be able to get our bags and through customs to go to our reserved taxi on time.
It only took us maybe 20 minutes for the whole process, but I would allow a little extra time!! It’s probably a little busier now.
Check for airport shuttles and airport transfers specifically!! I’m not sure if Japan does them, but I would be surprised if they didn’t. Those services are like the guys who wait for you with your name on a card, they usually track your flight and are a bit more flexible!
