- The great Pavel Steidl plays 'Rossiniana No. 1, Op. 119' by Mauro Giuliani
Pavel Steidl (born June 24, 1961) is a classical guitarist who was born in Rakovnik, Czechoslovakia (now in the Czech Republic), but has lived in the Netherlands for many years. After winning first prize at the 1982 International Guitar Competition of Radio France in Paris, Steidl began his career as a professional musician. Pavel is one of our closest and favourite artists, having been a regular at Altamira international symposiums for some time now. He joined us again in 2019 and we are lucky to be able to share his special performance.

This interpretation changed my life
THE BEST OF ALL GUITARIST'S. PERFECT TIMING, SENSITIVE "SOUL", CLEAR SOUND, PRECISION NOTES. A MIRACLE OF GUITAR SOUND. A PEAK OF CLASICAL MUSIC.
one of the greatest artists of the world, nowadays
Playing with such poise and control you can easily tell he has thoroughly conquered his instrument.
The cought at 5:15 is almost on queue....
Bravo Maestro!!
god, that's wonderful! I heard Pavel live in Gevelsberg a few years ago. A fantastic musician, as you can hear here. kind regards
incredible artist!
Excellent rendition of this masterpiece by Mauro Giuliani.
best interpretation. Fabulous
Thank you Maestro. I don't have the adequate words to describe how much I love your musicianship.
simply!! awesome!! Thanks for sharing!
Love the sound of the Vienna Stauffer. With his artistry it is time travel.
Gut strings do you think?
@@DushanTorbjorn Good thought.
@@DushanTorbjorn You could probably string this guitar with gut strings and it would work because it's short scale. But I think these are designed (and ship with) nylon strings. Then again, maybe it's best to use nylon on these because they are higher tension than gut and that's what the guitar is set up and constructed for. So I suppose the proper answer is to contact Altamira.
Hi all. Our historical models come is nylon strings, however we often use nylgut or gut strings for specific customer requests. It is possible to tune these instruments to well below A440
Suuupeeeerrrrb!!! 👏👏👏
The cough at 5:10 is hilarious. It must be viral!
Bravo!!
Amazing!!!
Fantastic!
Greatest guitarist of all times.
nice
such an insightful and sensitive interpretation! Bravo Pavel ! Though I can't help still having Julian Bream's bravura recording echoing in my ears, I so welcome your playing and your take on this amazing piece - presumably much closer to the sound Giuliani himself would have played it himself. Awesome!
Señor Pavel Steidl, Ud ha sido poseído por el espíritu de Muro Giuliani y G. Rossini...
Bravo!!!!
Esse omi é um sancto

Merlin on his guitar. Always a pleasure to watch!
6 microphones for a shxt of recording like this?!? ... excellent playing from Pavel (as usual) Still remember is master classes, very nice and humble person.
好听😯
Bravissimo!!
Un génie
Glad to hear this great sound and professional playing :)
I wonder if Giuliani was a massive Rossini fan or he just knew that his music would be recognizable and get a rise out if the audience?
Why is the video edited in that way?? You are overlaping parts for some reason
Yeah, it's truly horrible, I don't understand how this was overlooked.
Bravo!
🎼👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Chingon!!
Very interesting musician. I like occasionally angry face.
Does anyone know what is attached to the headstock of his Stauffer-style guitar?
It is to accommodate two additional lower strings that would be played open, tuned stepwise down from the low E.
@@edzmuda6870 Thanks! Had to wait two months for this answer, but I'm glad you did!
@@edzmuda6870 they are attached to the headstock. OK, but what about the other end (the bridge on the body? It seems to me there is no space for two extra strings?
@@Bjoernandersen the two additional strings are known as “floating strings” which would be above the neck. Attached is a link to Bernhard Kresse website that shows an example:

Hope this helps!
@@rjohanssonguitar It helped. Thanks!
Do listen to ANGEL ROMERO doing Giuliani virtuosic justice!

Guitar is made by Bernhard Kresse in Germany.
I'm so sorry I ever touched a guitar
He was really struggling towards the end... What string is he using? The tone sounds a bit weird to me
5:11 😂
love his playing but really not a fan of hearing moaning (singing)
Wtf por qué vocifera como cantando y respira así, además del colchón de cuero hacer mucho ruido. Esos tres errores técnicos estropean completamente la interpretación ya que mecánicamente es muy limpia.
Versione inascoltabile, partitura non compresa.
it is BORING
Why the editing with him from a distance while playing a completely different part??? Come on…
Bravo!!!!!
