It’s honestly mind boggling how beautiful reach was for it’s time, I miss those good times. The game has come a long way since 2010, and I’m proud of it.
halo reach in 2010 had more content then mcc
This is the kind of remaster that I love. It upgrades without disrespecting the core of the title. Halo Master Chief Collection is an amazing game
It's a glorious package
This is why the X is so appealing to me, almost like a one and done best versions of a lot of games I love and still play.
Can the X give you the option to play it in 360-style visuals?
@@MegaFinalRound yup
@@MegaFinalRound you have to install the backwards compatible 360 version of halo reach
@@MegaFinalRound You can turn your resolution down to 720p, which is the same resolution as the Xbox 360.
It really is a big improvement. Reach was pretty dang good looking for is day on the 360, and it really upgrades amazingly well.
What upgrades? These are the same picture
It almost looks like a different game, amazing
It’s quite wild, even the texturing detail!
It feels like it too just played it through on Series X, simply amazing!
@@Scharley03 YEAH let me go out and let me buy a trashbox series x so i can play halo again looking slightly better! NOT hahahahhahahha

SO GOING FROM
720P 30 FPS SDR to 4K 120 FPS HDR AND BETTER LOAD TIMES IS SLITGHLY BETTER ...? YOU SMOKE SOME REAL SHIT HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Love this game on my Series X. But I'm not going to lie, the 360 on the right gives it this sort of nostalgic fuzz that also looks good in it's own way
The 360 version has better atmosphere and the colors look correct. Just the performance and resolution are worse. With the higher resolution you see more imperfections of the 3d and fx that you dont see in the 360 version.
@@Marchand12 don't forget that the Series X version supports HDR. So if anything, the one on the left, in person (unless you're watching this vid on a HDR screen), would be correct.
@@dave93x The 360 atmosphere just seems more natural to life than the remastered version. The way the newer version plays is great it though. Just I feel as if everything is a bit too sharp in the way it looks. I may plug the Series X up to the old wide screen Sony fat back to test how it looks on there. I feel like it just wasnt designed to be in 4k. I would have to boot up the 360 to test out the colors for myself but it seems correct to me from this video from what I remember.
Yeah, they took out the sea fog for some reason.
Totally agree with what you said
If I close my eyes and listen to you carefully I'd swear you were Bob Ross 🤣
Reach must have been pretty damn impressive back in the 360 days! I enjoyed Reach on the MCC, looked and ran brilliantly. Another great video man 👍🏻
It was such a mighty title for the platform, a true gem for sure. Great times, but it's obviously aged a ton haha.
I actually prefer the fuzzy foggy look in the original. It fits the art style and makes everything feel like a bad dream.
343 always gets a bad rap but they have done equally as much as bungie for halo if you count this, halo 2A, CE remake, and 5’s multiplayer. You could argue even more.
They are going to transform Master Chief into Rico Rodriguez with the grappling hook. I this positive for you well at least some will enjoy it.
CE remake, kinda, i didnt like it cuz it took out the atmosphere from the orignal game, but eveyone has preferences!
@@raychii7361 I see a man that knows of Just Cause saga too, perfect
Making Bungie's Halos LOOK better is not the same as MAKING those games from scratch. 343 can make other games look pretty, but couldn't write their own decent story or make their own decent game if their lives depended on it.
The CEA remake is atrocious, H2A only has six remastered multiplayer maps and halo 5s story sucks. They've done as many bad things as good things.
Holy changes, I knew they where there but looking side by side its a lot.
Resolution makes quite a difference, but so does frame rate!
"I didn't think firefight would necessarily be necessary" 1:03
For the comparison
One of my favorite halo games.
It’s a gem!
Indeed
2nd is halo 2 annivarsary.Those cutscenes are 🔥🔥🔥
I can’t even imagine how smooth 120fps would be. Very well done comparison
It's quite an incredible experience. Glad ya liked the comparison.
Finally someone is doing straight-up 360/SX comparisons! I'm sick of all the "360 Vs One Vs One X Vs Series S Vs Series X" videos where the screen is divided up so much that the comparisons you're looking for get lost and mixed up. Thank you! Please do more of these 😁
Glad you liked it, I am looking at doing more comparisons!
I can't belive we use to play like this 10 years ago, and for me looks amazing both versions.
Reach is still one of my favorite games to date mainly because when you create a character. You can use it for both story and multi player and the campaign alone has its own nostalgia to it
It's a good tie in to have that whole experience Spartan.
Very good. Bad thing is that some visual effects are missing or very diminished, which affects the atmosphere of the game.
think id go with the 360 despite framerate, the lighting effects are better.
Even if you set the video to 720p the same resolution as the original game it's amazing how big the difference in image quality is.
You did such a good job dude, would love to see more videos like this 👍
Glad you liked it! I think I'll be doing more, the ones I've done have been decently successful. Cyberpunk, DayZ and Watch Dogs thus far!
Love these comparison videos
Glad ya like it!

360 graphics holding its own today! What an amazing piece of hardware
I remember playing this when it was new and not enjoying it specifically because of the poor performance, it definitely fell short of 30 a lot and I think I remember some heavy motion blur muddying up the image. I think the Series X is the perfect chance to run through the whole series one more time.
Ya, it does look incredible.
Loved halo reach to death on my 360 and was my first steps in tl fps multiplayer. And those endless hours i forged with my friends. I miss it
Lower res and less detail is more charming and relaxing to me. It allows you to use your imagiantion more to fill in the blanks as you see fit. Too much detail is uncanny for something thats supposed to be cartoon-like. Its like anime vs. the live action. Sometimes it just feels wrong.
Finally, a good comparison of the Series X and something else. From what I’m seeing I’m glad I went with the Series S because there isn’t any significant differences if any at all. Certainly nothing to make me wish I’d bought the X. Thank you for the comparison.
For the Xbox Series S Halo MCC will be 1080 120fps, Xbox Series X it'll be 4k 120fps. So mostly just resolution is the big factor, except for other BC games
@@Skycaptin5 That’s not what I'm seeing. When I turn on my S, the TV recognizes the S as a 4K system. When I compare it to my One X(which is a 4K console as well) there is no difference. The X will give 120FPS at 4K while the S will only do 4K@60 FPS. That’s the reason the specs on the S is lower than the X. To get to 120 more power is needed. MS says that the S isn’t even working hard to run 4K@60 and is able to do that consistently while the One X struggled. Few games pulled that off on the 1X. Forza 7 did and looks great. There’s no difference on the S. They look identical. The S is also capable of 1440p@120.
@@Skycaptin5 Finally, it comes down to what your TV/monitor will support and how much you want to spend. Mine only supports 60HZ and for that the X would be a waste for a hair’s breadth of difference between the S & X.
Try showing the differences between the X and S. Honestly, I doubt there would be a significant difference between them.
Reach is my favorite Halo game. You’re spot on about MCC. Fantastic that you get all the games except Halo 5 and the Halo Wars games. Again great comparison.
Mate loving your work 👌👌👌
thanks, glad you're enjoying it!
It looks a remaster on the xbox series x. Great video!
the motion blur effect/filter should have remained on MCC. It gave this game a unique cinematic feel
not only that, there are many missing visual effects, even the fog is rendereder differently
Am I the only one who remember Halo reach in the 360 with the graphics of the series x? That makes me feel old
Loved this comparison. Can you compare Combat Evolved’s graphics from Series X and Original Xbox (if it’s possible)?
that I sadly cannot do, I don't have the original Halo CE disc. Maybe someday if I find it, little bit harder to film OG Xbox too. I am likely to do a Xbox Series X Halo CE Anniv vs Classic look though and some other comparisons.
Honestly combat evolved has some advantages over anniversary
@@Skycaptin5 doesn’t the remaster on 360 have a option to switch from original to remaster. Maybe you could do something with that if you have the disc
@@videsjlv I do have the Xbox 360 disc version. I think I would more likely do a comparison of the Anniversary vs Classic like I did with Halo 2 a day back if you didn't see that one. ua-cam.com/video/FhNLFdp9t-E/v-deo.html
I would like to see this as well. Maybe with Halo 3 and 4 too.
Reach is my number 1 halo of all time i love the campaign and the multiplayer
the graphic comparison is like comparison between PC and console back then. Today the console is almost good as PC and cheaper than PC.
With so many disappointing AAA releases the last few years Xbox backwards compatibility and post updates MCC has been really refreshing to go back to and play the best version of some great older titles. Series X/S getting boost mode updates making the experience even better, love that Microsoft is respecting that gamers have a large library of titles that we still like to go back and enjoy.
Reach is my favorite halo to this day, The survival mode is fucking amazing,
Great comparison of one of my favorite games. Nice job!
Glad you liked it!
I think Reach really pushed the 360s hardware as I remember just how bad the motion blur was and everything looked so hazy and somewhat washed out, and some animations would look jittery at times
Halo Reach has a glaze like filter over the screen. It is almost like when you blow air on a mirror or a glass and it fogs up a little. Guess that is how a planet looks just before glassing!
Here's a dumb question. I played reach on the 360 more than a decade ago. I swear when the campaign starts you get to customize your armor before you talk to Carter. Was that a thing or am I misremembering it
Me watching at 144p: YOO! THAT LOOKS SOOO DIFFERENT ON THE SERIES X!!!!!
No but seriously, watch at 144p you'll still see subtle differences...
This is insane how far we’ve come with technology can’t wait for the new halo.
ya, it's quite a massive jump!
Really good comparison. It does look great in 4K.
I bought Halo Reach from the Microsoft store on my Xbox series x and it is not installing. Whenever I press install, it does a what looks like installing screen and then nothing happens
Honestly it's pretty impressive for a 15 year old machine with only 512MB of RAM.
It is, I've done one for Halo 4 if you haven't seen that, and that game is truly impressive on Xbox 360 hardware: ua-cam.com/video/Oz4iltBV-40/v-deo.html
Xbox Series X makes an Already Great Game look Even Better. Halo Reach looked beautiful on Xbox 360 Back in the Day And Xbox Series X gives it a New lease of Life.
Best halo game for me.With next gen patch,it is incredibly good.looks and plays great!!
Great characters and gameplay. Great music and story. Love this game and doesn’t have playable Master Chief. Hope Infinite is good.
One thing i have found is, (i have both the mcc and a 360 copy of reach i play on my one x) the mcc reach version has some buggy gameplay, for instance on long night of solace, enemy ships can really spam their laser fire, making it feel real cheap on heroic let alone legendary, (i do realize this has been a problem on the mcc version) but also, when covenant is on turrets in some levels, same thing, the rate of fire is doubled making it feel cheap.
For me, these little annoyances spoils what was otherwise, a complete and perfect package.
oh my god why does this video sound like and feel like a historic art review video where the people are on location and speaking softly as if to not disturb the paint... anyway keep it up this video was funny in a good way
Well, it is art
Last year I played Halo Reach on my Xbox One with the 360 disc. Still love the game, but the resolution and FPS hurt my eyes, really, after an hour I was so tired to play.
I can't wait to play this game on 60 FPS (my tv only handles 60MHz) it looks Gorgeous.
P. S. 120 FPS must looks stunning.
I used to play this game all the time non stop just to get better armour for my character 😁
Dont forget guys the ONE X not Series X also runs this game at 2160p with HDR but at 60fps vs 120 which is still very beautiful. Also, if your television does not support HDMI 2.1 which most people’s do not you will not be able to use the 120fps feature. I have a series x brand new in box but dont have a Hdmi 2.1 tv so im waiting to use it until i get one. Shooting for the new Sony A90J Oled!
halo 2 doesn't run at a native 4k though on the one x atleast the campaign doesn't
my favorite multi-player game to this day!
Is it me, or does the game look kinda the same? Just fps difference?
what I'm trying to find out is, do you have to rebuy this to get the visual upgrades for series X if you already own the 360 version?
You need to buy Halo: MCC.
Wow se nota muchísimo la diferencia entra la versión original y la super chetada 😎💚
¡Sí, gran mejora!
X makes everything look clear . 360 gives of this slight blur to the textures
Im glad u done this with halo reach
It was a great comparison to make, folks seem to have really enjoyed it!
@@Skycaptin5 cheers 4 the reply
So can you insert the Xbox 360 Halo Reach disc in an Xbox Series X & play the game?
You can, but this is MCC
It looks like the 360 version has peach fuzz layered over the screen
Well they worked with what they could on the 360 now they had more leeway with the xbox one and xbox series x
Does this still display at 4K when playing this at 120fps? Is there any loss of graphical fidelity than when playing at a lower framerate?
its just 4k 120fps, there are no graphical modes, I'd be concerned if they couldn't get a 360 game running in 4k 120fps
Nice video👍
thanks!
Can someone explain to me how this works? What makes the same game, years apart on different consoles, look different? Is it the game's creator or the system?
It’s kinda explained the video
Hardware and optimization. Each generation, we can improve old games. Make textures higher quality thanks to new gen hardware. Xbox X has 12gbs of ram, and the 360 only had 512 mb. So you can see how much room there is for improvement.
Its all about the old hardware and possibilities new hardware offers
Can you imagine if halo infinite Xbox games showcase demo was the official game and the new upgrade was the anniversary??? Also halo reach looks beautiful on mcc
Looks at the thumbnail
Me: uhhh colors?
It’s to draw people in, and it’s working
@@Skycaptin5 yea I was like colors let's goo then I watched it and was like wow
that's good, draws you in and hopefully delivers haha
@@Skycaptin5 yesirr probably gonna sub too
@@nfx_real Oh, that's cool, I hope ya enjoy the content
"It was really hard to go back and play with 30 fps". Yeah, now console players can understand PC gamers 😁
So does every 360 game running on series x look this good? I played bo2 zombies the other day and the only thing I noticed being next gen was the loading and that’s it
Well, this was Optimized and ported over. So no, some do get a slight 16x anis though.
Can you still download this for xbox series x?
dude!! even with the xbox one it makes a big diference vs xbox 360... make a comparition with the xbox one ... it would be awesome to watch what is the diference with a similar resolution
might be something I'll do, I am more interested in variety for game comparisons I'm doing. I've started recently and have only done a handful thus far since they're a lot of work.
reach on 360 was impressive, some of the best graphics i'd seen. Along side batman and halo 4
Sky captain i have question how to open tac map in warzone on xbox series x im asking this because for ps4 ps5 u should press the tuch pad for opening the tac map but for xbox one and xbox series x I don't know so pls help
Iv reached a point where I'm done looking for the series x online 😭
360 is better
nah bruh 360 version just has more love in it, that 720p at 30fps just feels too right for the game
If I play the Xbox 360 disc on my Series X will it look this good? Or is the MCC version better
You have to use the MCC version.
Goes to show how awesome the old original was.
I always hated motion blur, and early 2010s bloom effect that every game of that time had
You need to do Joker voice in a game.
Both still look good, I’m still gonna wait on XSX
It seems they removed the fog filter and bam 💥 looks clean.
makes me suspect the fog filter was added in to hide the terrible artifacts caused by the game running on 720p
What i find mad about this is how good it looked on 360. But gret to see it get 4k and fps upgrade. Need to do a play though on my pc. Just ashame 5 wont be coming to pc.
I imagine at somepoint they’ll get 5 on there.
I have a series x.....is reach on gamepass upgraded version?
It's the one in Halo MCC
Best change for Series X: 120fps and FOV adjustable
Does anyone know why my series x says "Sorry this game isn't playable here"? It's saying that with two other xbox 360 games I bought too
They’re probably not backwards compatible.
*Halo Infinite has left the chat.
Damn the frame rate is terrible compared to Series X. I can tell i’m used to 60fps cos I don’t remember the 360 being that slow
Nice video
thanks!
Halo was the only reason why I got a xbox. Now that it's on PC I dont have to waste my money on a new xbox, win for me!!
Im just glad i get 120fps on the X so i dont have to waste money on a PC, win for me!!!
@@revmatchproductions dont have to waste money when you already own one xD
@@revmatchproductions Ironic how you say that having a PC is a waste of money, when you're the one paying for $60 subscription fees for multiplayer and paying for expensive games, especially when PC can do all Xbox can but better. Sorry to burst your bubble.
You have to purchase dlc to play halo reach on mcc. Is that still the case
If you have Game Pass it's included. Paying for the DLC is the story, multiplayer is just included. That aside, it's a cheap cost for a stellar addition.
@@Skycaptin5 because i have gamepass and ir said i had to pay dlc for the campaign
@@EndOfTheDemocrats hmm, shouldn't have to, did you go to install through Game Pass? I believe it's an included perk of it.
Not that different honestly 360 still holds up it looks beautiful on both sides
MCC version is a downgrade. It is a well known fact. Bloom, ambient occlusion, motion blur and overall lighting system was downgraded. AI and game difficulty is also broken. So, what are you talking about?
I've been playing Halo Reach since 2010 and I gotta admit, I'm not very impressed with the MCC version. Plus I'm pissed that I have to unlock all the customizations and raise my ranks all over again. Post-game carnage reports aren't as detailed as they were in the original. The new graphics are good but not exactly "wow omg" Not trying to dis on this video or its creator. But the original was epic in it's own so to say.
Do you half whisper always. Or that's your natural voice?
I don’t do anything with my voice, takes too much energy lol
Would be more interesting to see xbone instead of 360 ...if it werent about two extremes
Xbox series X is powerful I really want it!
Absolutely incredible
“Nothing changes”
I played the Xbox 360 disc version on the Xbox Series X.
