  • This is a more advanced version of the Little Dog robot, created by the University of Southern California in the group of Stefan Schaal (Computational Learning and Motor Control Laboratory). The robot is completely autonomous and trained by machine learning algorithms. The video is real-time, i.e., not sped up.

This is a huge progress! Can you imagine this kinematic motion on artificial legs or arms!? Life could be much easier for those who lost a member.
    Kudos for this!

Man I'm glad to be young enough to one day witness such graceful technology used for practical, day to day things. I mean the first time I saw BigDog I was amazed, I had no idea that robotics had gotten so far. This just goes to show, never underestimate the power of engineering and science.

@hazerk What makes this more interesting to me, than the snake, is this is fully autonomous. You give it a destination, and it heads out. The method of moving, and balancing itself is very cool also. The recovery routine is amazing. I'm just VERY impressed with this.

That is pretty damn smart, it's good to see some progress is the stagnating robotics field. A few things I would like to see are twisting fore-arms and grasping feet. Probably if the hind legs were more like cat or dog hind legs it would be more stable.
