    I was thrilled to see you add an affiliated link here! :D I changed the growing medium for my leaf babies a month or so ago (once I saw your preferred medium). Thanks for the advice! It is so much easier to lift them and check on their roots. It is easier to see stray roots that get exposed and fix the problem quickly. They are growing soooo much faster now that I'm watering them more, per your advice! Thanks!

      I use my own (Master succulent Soil Mix) for my graptopetalum, which gets amended depending on a few factors such as, pots I use, where it's going to be grown, etc. As a general guide, Graptopetalum are not that fuzzy and can grow in any well-draining soil. So many tiny babies. Do you have a preference with how you lay the leaf? Have you discovered whether it makes a difference, whether the dip of the leaf is facing up or down?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 роки тому +2

      When a leaf is facing down, takes longer for the plant to grow since it has to wriggle it's way up to the top.

  • @theresapon2936

    Thanks for all the tips Liz! I'm successful in propagating roots and pimples. But once the mother leaf dies. The plant also dies ☹️. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe it's the watering process? Any ideas? How do you water these babies, I know you didn't want to make the video too long but I don't know what else I could be doing wrong? Is the info in your blog? I watched your video on indoor Propagation and watering. I don't have grow lights. Should I be watering less?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 роки тому +1

      What plant are you propagating? If you take away the grow light, it's the same method growing and watering in an area with plenty of light but no direct sunlight.

    • @theresapon2936
      @theresapon2936 3 роки тому

      @@theresapon2936 Maybe try removing the babies from the mother leaf once it has it's own roots and always let the soil dry out before watering again. Depending on the variety such as specific name for example 'E. Romeo, sedum clavatum; some are better propagated from cuttings than leaves.

      Theresa, hey hunny just wanted to let you know i was having the same problem so i started to prop mama leaf up off the soil/ coco coir to keep her leaf super dry. I prop her on a rock at thr one end or prop her on the side of the pot, or lean her on a chopstick. Anything to keep her dry. I found if i can keep her on with thr baby as long as possible, she acts like the nanny and i am now potting up pretty big babies with her still on them. She eventually dries up but now she comes off in more like 8 months now. I just plant her along with the new plant, she will die eventually. Now i have no problem and i have just planted 65 decent sized small plants. Happy Planting hunny, good luck.

    Can I leave propagating leaves n with roots near window? Water only if dry? Using cocopeat soil. How often should I use soil wetter ?which I saw other video you spray on them. I see my leaves looking dry despite being water. Thank you much dear Liz.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 роки тому +1

      Don't leave propagated leaves near window as it will dry up too quickly and will take too long to grow pups. Make sure that your leaves have roots before planting and watering and I never use soil wetter on propagated leaves in coco peat. On some leafy succulents, the single propagated leaves will dry up as the new baby emerge.
