I just bought one, it came with not very good strings. Can I get a recommendation on buying some new ones? I’m a guitar player learning Ukulele for the first time. Thanks in advance 👍☕️
_Notice Marco's dynamics._ Some notes are accented, and some notes are brushed lightly, almost ghosted. That provides the sweet syncopation of the finger-picking, and brings out the melody. If your fingernails are just the right length, you can get a lot of sensitivity by choosing how much of each pluck is from the fleshy ball of the fingertip, and how much is from the fingernail. You will never get this from thinking too much about it. It is more about feel, listening to your own playing, and feedback. Your brain will grow the new necessary neural pathways while you are sleeping.
I got my ukulele almost 4 years ago and gave up on it after one year due to the lack of calming, beautiful sounds like this one. I have now retrieved it from its dusty box and tuned it back up because of your video. Thank you so much for this!
it's incredible how hooked by this beautiful melody I am! I was never able to do fingerpicking but I'm trying this now because I have such a great feeling with it. I'm being impressed by the results and I had to write this. this is a wonderful things about the internet: being able to have great moments with total strangers you never met. thank you so much for taking the time to make such a great video! greetings from a brazilian :)
I just got my first ukulele... four days ago, haha ... and this is the first thing I've been learning how to play alongside chords. I wouldn't say it's been easy but it hasn't been insurmountable. And I love how a lot of your videos are rooted in simplicity and the fundamentals. For a beginner, like me, they've been so motivating - it makes me want to establish a stronger foundation in new and interesting ways, instead of defaulting to song books before understanding things like progressions. Thank you so much for sharing, I've been learning a lot from you in a short amount of time already! ☺️
Iam glad that youtube helped me to find your page . I have been having a hard time handling my depression , so i bought myself a ukelele coz the sound of ukelele helped me sleep. But then i ended up here and have been going through your videos. So much love to you . Yes iam learning from your videos. Thanks a lot . ✌️
I really like this pattern with its particular fingering (adding the pinky on the 3d fret-1st string (Am and F chord) This is the secret ingredient in this pretty fingerpicking piece.
Thank you so much for the lesson, Marco ! I began my practice on August 10th, so I’m an absolute beginner and I enjoy particularly your lessons since they are so different from the usual vids for beginners. I mean I like to play Hallelujah and Over the rainbow, but this cords progression is my favorite. I play it every day for 1 hour, and I’m improving my practice with an awesome melody !!! Thank you so very much for sharing this awesome melody ❤. Big HI from France 🇫🇷
Even though i am a guitr player, the more i watch ukulele videos, the more i start loving the ukulele more than the guitar...it is such a beautiful instrument😌
I bought a ukulele just to screw around with. I found this video and learned how to play this sequence. I am now hooked. Thank you for the lessons very much appreciated!
Thanks for the video! So i tried this and for some reason on my (probably cheaper) Ukulele, the G chord at the end doesn't quite sound nice. So i tried something else and for everyone having similar issue, try E7 for the last chord. It gives the progression a whole different feel but still sound really really nice. E7: 1 2 0 2
Not too difficult at all, I’ve owned my uk two weeks and can do this… my only confusion is that almost none of his chord versions match my little cheat sheet, so I hope it doesn’t confuse me later when I play C7, Am, and F. It sure sounds beautiful, I’ll be strumming this I think during private worship. I love the minor chords especially for worship. 😍
Wow. I have been playing the ukulele for years and a few weeks ago a chord sequence similar to this one fell out of my ukulele. It's so beautiful, and you create such an incredible sound when you play. Thank you for sharing
Those were beautiful chords. It would be helpful if you could/would show the notes that make up the chord before you start adding in all your other stuff. Thanks.
Aah finally found a video in which i can clearly see the ukulele and strings lyk whole things... & the subtitles r also visible perfectly... In others video they jst cover the whole thing with subtitles & cover the process thts so annoying & i lose interest... But good to see ur video..keep it up ❤️
It’s a beautiful melody. I am new at this and would like to know the name of the chords because your fingers don’t actually show which strings you are playing.
Dear Marco, your voice and the uke arrangement are so beautiful! I just left the clip to run and run as gentle background music and sound. I did pay attention to your lesson, but beyond that I was mesmerised, re ran the lesson, and just got relaxed listening to it. You Inspire me! Best Wishes!
I have been playing C, Cmaj7, Am and G but never realized to try Am with C instead of A on the first string - it sounds so nicely sad 🤣🤷♂️. Now I play Am with that C, Cmaj7, Am as 3rd chord, G as fourth and with 1&4, 3, 2, 1 picking pattern. ...and can’t stop it. 😍 Need to practice the 4,2,4,1 as well at some point.
This is such an amazing piece of music. I played it in my baritone using the same finger positions but different chords (Em, Gmaj7, C and D), it sounded just as amazing as this one
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful, peaceful and easy to learn fingerpicking practise 💓🍀 such easy and pretty tutorials keep beginners being motivated if they feel lost at their ukulele journey 😄👍
I love these type of tutorials because it really helps to familiarise me with the different finger shapes and where I can adapt them to different places on the fret board and it just sounds so pretty. Thanks Marco!!! 😍
First time I've watched your videos. I like this picking pattern but may I suggest instead of the same pattern over the G chord which gives you the same note (a G note) three times in a row, you change the picking pattern to 4,3,2,1 (over the G chord only) and then revert to the normal pattern in order to keep the sound of the picking pattern the same. If you wanted to repeat the whole pattern with a different voicing on the G you could play 4,3,2,1 on the G chord twice then play it another two times whilst holding a G5 chord (0235). Then back to the normal pattern.
Sounds awesome once I figured out the positions. Just from a learning point though, why do your F and Am chords use 3rd fret A string but when I learned those chords they don't use that fret?
Hi Matt. He's just doubling up on the C note, only an octave higher. You always play a C note (open 3rd string) when you play an A minor or F Major. Adding that higher C adds a little beauty to the chords :)
Man. I’ve only been playing guitar a couple months. I’m getting one of these in today. I hope they different notes don’t hurt me in learning on the guitar. Love the sound of the ukulele and great tutorial!
2× each chord
2 0 0 3 (am, 1:15)
0 0 0 2 (cmj7, 1:21)
2 0 1 3 (f, 1:27)
0 2 3 2 (g, 1:35)
Make the chords more interesting:
am, 4:35
cmaj7, 5:05
f, 5:23
g, 5:44
Finger picking pattern: 2:31
Strumming pattern: 6:09

Can you also decode the strumming pattern on the 4 beat tempo(1 &, 2 & , 3 & , 4 &)
Cmaj7 has always been my fav chord
I agree! It's a lovely chord! :)
Same for real

Really glad I found this...I was so tired of playing "Ain't she sweet." This opens up a whole new world of uke. Thanks.
Enjoy the lesson!
I hear that lol I have played “lava” about 600 times now. Time for something new.

For me as a beginner it pulls the ukulele away from all the standard Hawaii ulaula stuff. Great to hear this.
