Replace a broken LED Christmas light socket

- The wind blew down some of my custom length LED Christmas lights and one of the bulb sockets broke completely off. This left only part of the string of lights working. I snagged a socket off of the cut-off strand that I removed from this string last year and replaced the socket to get these going again.

This helped me fix my 30+ yr old string lights with a janky socket. Tysm 🙏
You're a life save 🙏🏽
I loved your idea with the pipe frame from when you made it and i already know how to change bulbs and sockets but those t pins that i had to look up and i like them. I am going to buy a pack for my tool box and add a couple of them into my multitool sheath. Great idea. Happy New Year.
I discovered them when I started working a maintenance position in an office building. I’ve been carrying at least one with me daily for the past decade.
Nicely done.
Exactly what i was looking for. Thank you.
Where did you get the replacement socket? Great video. As soon as I can get the parts I'll repair a tree I have. Thanks!
I had some extras left over from another string that I shortened, so I scavenged a socket from that.
@@DustinRogersinMO ah..ok. I'll see about cutting up an old string. Thanks!
@@jimkabage3552 just make sure it’s the same type of LEDs because the sockets may vary by brand.
Can you give anymore detail on how to put the socket back on? Im having trouble getting the socket connected back onto the metal tabs.
The flat brass contact should slide down into a groove in the socket. You’ll insert the wire in from the bottom of the socket, past the lip of the groove, then the “wings” of the brass connector slide down into the groove. The brass connector has a tiny little locking tab that should lock into the socket to keep it from pushing back up out of the groove.
I was thrilled to see this video. Right up until you fixed it on the house. Your up-close demo of how to remove the wires from the socket was perfect. Then you choose to show the critical point of fixing it from far away on your house? Close ups. ALWAYS CLOSE UPS
Well, I was able to fix it on the house without completely removing the entire strand, so I did. I would have had a closer shot, but I don’t have a 8’ tall tripod and I couldn’t do the repair one handed while holding the camera. That’s why I did the close up shot, to demonstrate what I was doing.
Great video. It explained everything you need to do to make a good repair. After watching this a cave man can do it following your steps.
I tried commenting on the your MacBook pro video but comments are turned off on it, where did you get the data that's on the USB you used to reboot??? Please help
You will need another Mac to be able to create a bootable USB

You may be able to buy a bootable USB online somewhere.
