I'm glad that you recognized the need for a current limiting resistor. Too many people don't understand that. That said, every string of LED lights has resistors in them. They need to have something to limit the current. Sometimes the resistor is visible, and sometimes it is soldered directly to the LED inside the housing where you can't see them. That said, installing that resistor from that other string most likely isn't sufficient considering you removed 2/3 of the LEDs.
I just bought a set of 100 mini led lights.both connectors have 3 wires..but they're not sectioned at all..if I pull a bulb the rest all stay lit up..but I need to shorten the length a little bit I just don't know if I can with these lights?
I'm glad I watched this before trying to shorten a string of lights. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing this. Wire to Wire ... best recommendation, and seemingly common sense, that I can take away from this.
Good idea to buy another strand and use the resistor! Why didn't I think of that? Cheap solution :)
I would solder the wires and use heat shrink tubes for a cleaner look
I did do that on one window, Honestly it wasn't worth the trouble, You never notice the wire nuts or cords.
Thanks for the video. Good job.

cannot see what wire he is using, big hands
What if my strand already has one of those? Do I need to add another one?
do you know if they sell the resistors separate that i can buy somewhere
I have never found them, an electronics store may sell them but I have not found any.
electronics store all sorts of resistors but you need to know what value you want.
`Was there any specs on that spliced in resistor?
Can I shorten a strand that only 2 wire?
AND HOW?
Get your friken hands out of the friken way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
