I really want to start breeding rice fish, but no one in Australia knows about them so very difficult to sell, it’s a pity because they are a beautiful little fish 🐠
I thought Ricefish were supposed to be longer lived. I've not had luck with mine from other sources. They've lived less than a year out in my tub pond. But I probably got older fish. No fry from them either. Makes me consider not doing more in the future. If I do I'll definitely be considering yours.
I sent a request to the Facebook group. I hope they continue to be bred to be hardy outdoors year-round, the winter naturally culls off the weaker fish. I hope there is some outcrossing with these new strains, it is like producing a new morph for a reptile, you obviously want to make more but you don't want to be producing weaker animals, so you outcross that new morph line with new blood every so often to maintain that vigor and hardiness.
Robbey got the best ricefish in America. Hands down! Support a veteran and buy from Robbey!
So how do i find "Robbey"? Got a link or a website?

This video was filmed in September, but uploaded in December. I wonder how they're doing now.

I wonder if freshwater mussels or clams eat the fry? Looks like snails eat the eggs.
About 1 year lifespan? Woah I had no idea!
