That unknown flower is Purple loosestrife. It's pretty but it is highly invasive here in Vermont. Queen Anne's lace is a wild carrot and you can eat the root if you want to. It smells just like a carrot when you pull them up. Thanks for another great video. I love learning new things about art.
First time viewer. I have to say this was probably the most enjoyable pressed flower video that I've watched. The varnish technique looks interesting. I'm definitely going to watch more of your videos. Thank you!
I love your theme! The dried flowers and how you placed them in plastic with labels was absolutely original! I'm loving your techniques and spots of this and that. One doesn't tire of that or get bored. Just love this one! Thank you for sharing.
what you said at 21:00 mark in the video...you are one of my absolutely favorite journalists to have fun with and get inspired by. I tend to love all the things you love..the pressed flowers, grunge, vintage, botanical, sketches, all that stuff. I have several favorite you tube artists as my "go to" for learning, inspiration, and just having fun, you are definitely the #1 of my all time favorite. Thank you for sharing your creativity. I admire your style!!!
Went on my morning walk this morning, picked some beautiful small wild flowers....came home and jump on UA-cam. Search "how to make book for pressed flowers. WOW, your site has me so inspired. Thank you. Like your style.
Beautiful flowers to dry, some of which I have not dried. My friend Ann has decorated a candle for me 🙏, with her own garden's flowers. She did a lovely job, sealing the flowers with a bit of melted wax. Wrapped up in cellophane & tied with a purple bow (my fav colour) it was a perfect gift for me. I cherish it! TFS🙏🥰🦘🦘🦘🌿
I was looking for ways to decorate our wedding menus and everything. Thank you for all these tips and tricks. When we have children, I am definitely going to use these tricks to make nice flower books with them to study trees, flowers and seasons.
I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying your videos. I do eco dye and got a smaller hot press for Christmas that I haven’t tried yet but have fall leaves and 💐 flowers frozen. Hopefully it works. I got the freezing video from another person on utube and can’t think of her name right now, but she does a lot of eco dying. I am gonna have to watch your video on the drying process because I absolutely love this whole video and I’m obsessed with picking up leaves, flowers, pods, acorns, pine ones, sticks. That’s my favorite junk from nature. I do mixed media and cards and scrapbooks but you and a few others have inspired me to try a junk journal, ty
Some great ideas. Thank you for sharing. I am definitely going to do a similar journal. Thought I would do one for my son with family photos with embellishment and names so he will know who they are and the things they liked and did when they were young. He has never met some of them. A family history of sorts.
Years ago I bought a microwave flower press. It works great and I had a pizza box with a lot of flowers in but I haven’t done anything with them. So many projects, so little time.
Don’t have a laminator , so I was thrilled to see an alternative ! I also love pressed flowers in my journals. Thanks and I subscribed. Good health and happiness in 2023 hugs
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I do follow you and love your style. Have lots of pressed stuff which I now know what to do with. Many thanks again
Flowers at around 10:30 I believe are pansies, I have all different shades of yellow, blue, purple and white, with their cute little faces. I love the lavendar and the cream colored lacey ones.
Awesome!!! So glad I found you… just started pressing flowers had no idea how to use them and I didn’t want to buy a laminator. How exciting to use your very creative and inspiring techniques. Thank you so much
I was just trying to figure out how to use my pressed flowers to make a background for a garden scene for my sister’s birthday - this will work perfectly! Thanks so much.
I am relatively new to your channel and I absolutely love everything I’ve seen. This is a great idea and I have so many pressed leaves and small flowers that would be perfect for this. Thank you for sharing. I started junk journaling about a year ago, but I have always been an artist, and I would love to see more ways to incorporate original artwork in my junk journals.
The long spiked flowers might be a form of mullein. I know it comes with yellow flowers but purple might just be a different variety. Love your videos.
Great ideas, I have tons of pressed flowers and I keep collecting. I need to seal mine and had not figured it out yet. I can't wait to get some varnish and try this. Thanks for sharing.
Hello mam first time i see these type of videos and i am so happy what you share to us i also want to make a card for my daughter birthday yes i have dry flowers but i dont know what type of varnish you used
Hi Michelle, I just discovered your channel. So glad that I did! You have some really amazing suggestions and ideas for pressing down such a variety of flowers, greens, "weeds", you name it. This was really so helpful, as I was always puzzled as to how fellow creatives got some of these bulky things down, and flat! I just subscribed and cannot wait to check out more of your ideas! Thanks for sharing.
I am thoroughly loving each of your videos: Your style, the fact these are from your actual garden, your generous approach to art, and your generous sharing of all of this!! This is inspiring me so much, I am making a book for my daughter's wedding and the organic quality is so perfect for her, I wanted you to know that and I hope that is OK with you!
Thank you for your kind words and I am so very happy that these videos inspire you, it is the reason I make them. I really enjoy sharing ideas and the creative process behind it all. I am sure your daughter will love the book you make her. What a wonderful gift she can treasure for years to come. Thank you for watching 😊
Hi! Im new to pressed flower art and had a question about varnish and glue. O was using a decoupage glue to bond the flowers top and bottom, then used a spray varnish on top. Im noticing some greenery and certain flowers fading fast after i applied the varnish. Maybe 1 month later? Would you happen to know which element would be causung it? Some flowers i biught online and im not sure uf they weren't 100% dried. If that coukd also be the issue 🤔
Hi! I know you asked about varnish months ago, but if you still need an idea, I recently bought “Liquitex professional acrylic mediums matte varnish.” It’s a product recommended by Nik the Booksmith. I bought it to seal vintage book covers that were water damaged.
Hi! Just found your Channel and I found It very useful and arty. I would like to ask a question about a Craft I did with dried flowers. The thing is that the petals of a flower are receding and getting holes in them. I suppose that the flower was just not dry enough, but would like to know whether I am right. Also, I Have found that if you leave a flower to dry for too lo g It loses its colour and becomes brownish, si I take It out when It still preserves some of its colour. Will they become Brown with time when I stick them and frame them? Would I avoid that problem with the varnish? Sorry for the erratic ortography, but Im writing from Spain. Thank you. Blanca
Hello, Thank you 😊 Only few flowers retain their vibrant colour when fully dried. And all dried flowers will turn brown eventually if exposed to UV light. I would imagine that the flower was not fully dry which is why it’s getting holes now. The varnish only protects the plant from getting ruined and kept things flexible. it won’t help keep its colour. I hope this info helps
@@edrickyepez8714 I would imagine it would work. I have never done it myself. But varnish is a sealant so as long as the flower is completely dry is should preserve it
This is so fascinating! I'm new to pressing flowers, but you know how people put them in photo frames, especially with no back so it's just glass... is it possible to paint both sides of the flowers with varnish and then glue them to the glass? Or does it need to be done on paper? And if you don't varnish them, do they end up disintegrating? Thank you! I really enjoyed this video :)
I haven’t tried that myself. The varnish is for the paper option it just gives it a protective coating to be used in a book. If you are just framing a specimen to hang on the wall you wouldn’t really need the varnish. Just make sure it is fully dry, You could also find a frame where there are two pains of glass to press the flower in. Just be a wear not to put the specimen in direct sunlight the colour will fade. Hope that helps

Do you think this would work on tulle?
what kind of paper that you used? can it be any kind of paper for varnishing pressed flowers?
What kind of glue do you use?
What kind of varnish are you using and where do you get it?
