Thanks. I changed the ignition in my 2003 tundra this morning. I never would have thought of doing it before but I thought what the hell. I'll look it up on UA-cam and came upon your video. Very simple explanations Make this user friendly.
Who are you?! You're such an angel to community, for humanity. Thank you. I just busted my hubby's ignition on the trip to the paint store today. If I can fix it before he comes home, I will have a story at the very least. ;-) I love building and fixing. Did I mention that you're absolutely amazing?!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I followed your procedure and it took me 15 minutes to remove/replace the ignition lock cylinder, which allowed me to start and drive my truck.
Excellent instructions, sir. I followed your video exactly and was able to remove and replace the ignition lock cylinder with no problems at all. Thank you!
Drilling the push button I could not think of. Thank you. I will try. I spent all day trying to get it out. ------- one hour later---- It worked!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Great video. I watched it, giggled the key and managed to get it into the accessory position. I disconnected the battery and bought a new switch. I had it installed in 20 minutes. The video even tells you what socket to use and where the bolts are. The only tricky thing was the light ring, it popped off and I had a bit of an issue aligning it, but still managed. I loved the fact that this was for my exact vehicle, but probably works with many others. The pin he's drilling out is an anti-theft device.
Hey man just wanted to tell you thank you. My truck was broken into last week some A hole decided to destroy my ignition. after watching your video I popped in a new one no problem drilled out the old one got everything to work truck started right up. Just wanted to tell you thank you.

Best video to put the ignition lock cylinder in with. My vehicle is a 2003 Toyota Highlander. Made changing so easy. Just follow instructions and you can't go wrong if you have the correct cylinder. Thank you
You saved me a lot of money bud, thank you - something came unstuck & got jammed inside the ign cylinder on my Gen 3 Hilux Surf & although the key goes all the way in, it absolutely refused to turn - I drilled the pin out as you described & fitted a replacement barrel.
Fine video. Last night I could not get my 1998 Toyota Rav4's key to turn to the ACC position. I made many attempts. In the past I have fully removed the igition lock/switch assembly, so I repeated this chore today. Then I went at the button with the drill, as shown in the video. I started with a 1/16-inch titanium drill bit and a $13 corded drill from Harbor Freight. The drill bit was barely making a dent in the button, but things seemed much looser. I tried the key and lo and behold I was able to get the key to the ACC position; remove the cylinder; and replace it with a LockSmart LC63100 from Autozone ($57).
thanx for the videos man, great info, i started learning as a locksmith years ago, basically on older cars without smart keys and transponders stopped round about 1995,i recently lost my job on the refinery, decided to use my money that is due to me for buying the xhorse dolphin and the accessories going with it, to start a small business and getting back into the game, in the old days i was going to try and pick that toy ignition to acc, to press that button in, and pull the cylinder out, once that's done i was gonna strip that cylinder down to the barrel ,then hand file the key ,rough up the blade a bit to where if you put a bit of pressure on the brass slide it makes a mark where your cut should be, then file that mark until the slide is level with the barrel, do eac one and then do the other side, eventually flipping the key around in the barrel to mirror the other side that's how i learned to make keys for the first two years with hand and file, after that i went to guide keys or depth keys didn't touch a cutting machine for three years when i started learning the trade

Hi MY Keys Automotive, I'm going to attempt this on Saturday on my 04 Tundra. Just an update my part came in, and my truck is back in business. Thanks so much for posting this video.
Really great video! I found others that weren't nearly so specific - particularly showing the little hole where the lock needs to be drilled out. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you man, you made it so simple. My key will turn to acc. But won't turn off/lock, but you just fixed me up. Gonna go change it out right now, have a good one brother!
Hello, I followed your instructions and they worked perfectly until the point where I drilled out the pin then I pulled out the ignition. My key was stuck in the lock position. At this point in the video, you show using needle nose pliars to adjust the interior mechanism to the “Accessory” position. When I try to adjust it, it won’t move and I can’t adjust it to accessories position, so I can’t install the new ignition because it’s not lined up. Is there a trick to adjusting the interior mechanism. Please I need help Thank you
I just replaced mine out and followed your instructions but my key is still stuck in the ignition any possible things I could have done wrong?. Thanks for the vid it was very instructional and had everything I needed to know about it👍
This video was immensely helpful. I appreciate the information very much. I was able to change mine out, and after doing so I compared the new key to the old and wondered due to the extreme wear on the old key whether or not it was simply the key itself. I suppose if I am able to get a new key for the old one and have it turn with no issues(or not) I will comment on here again with the result.
I followed everything you said. Now the new one I installed with the new key and it doesn't want to come out and it locks on ACC. The key comes out only if I disconnect the battery, only than it releases back to lock and key comes out. Any suggestions? Hopefully I'm being clear so you can understand me. Thanks

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE I actually permed the replacement. On every Toyota Avalon XLS there is a security chip. Need to see if you have any information or video on 2012 Tundra ignition Key stays stuck and can't remove. the acc stays on! is this the switch or is it a solenoid on the ignition switch. I've heard it's the solenoid. Do you have a video on replacing or repairing of either solenoid and or switch?

Excellent video,,, but I cannot get the key to release from the cylinder after sliding it back into position ( in the ACC position) and then turning it to the OFF position. They key won't come out.
You may need a new code cut key. I would put it into ACC then pull it (the ignition cylinder) out. Your key will come out at this point. Go to a Locksmith to get a new code cut key (factory specs) or dealer if you prefer
@@wattvoltamp Thanks. Actually, there is some kind of sensor, or electrical wire connected to the ignition cylinder. This part is known to fail. I simply disconnected the wire, and all is good. I believe it is part of the anti theft system. I finally ordered a new entire ignition cylinder, and the key would not release out of it either. But after disconnecting the wire, it worked perfectly.

Would work no programmer needed musr cgange door locks too
By replacing the cylinder, how did you get the new key to communicate with the immobilizer ECU to get the vehicle started?
how often have you found that it is the key itself that is worn out rather than the lock cylinder?

Does this apply to a 2002 Toyota celica?
@my keys automotive I have a 2001 Toyota Tundra sr5 2wd with auto theft activated and now it will not crank or turnover when you turn the key all the lights on the dash light up but nothing happens
Did you lose your keys or why did you replace your ignition cylinder ??..the keys need to be programmed to your vehicle!!
I didn’t replace it yet what happen was I bought the truck drove it home and parked it and unhooked the battery to put a new one in and the alarm started going off after I hooked the cables on the new battery ! Sorry about that .
Check uder the dash on the driver side look for a little box with a button on it and hold the button ..
Why won’t my car turn over after replacing this!? Do I need recode the net keys?
Must have an immobiliser chip
Hey Thanks.. because of this video I did it myself!! Whoop whoop!!😊✌

@@paulahardy8796 awe im sorry to hear that 🥲🥲
How long were you drilling on that?
I want to say a good 3-4 mins.. i was also taking my time because i dont want to damage the housing...keep that in mind steady and take your time
Thanks man, appreciate the video, great tutorial!

So you don't need to program the key or anything?
Depending the model and year for transponder option
Thanks, replaced mine in no time.
Thank you! You save my day.. DIY and it works!
What size drill bit did you use?
Not sure if I remember but something smaller than the opening just as long as your not rubbing the sides of the housing you should be good!
My korean people 😂😂😂 good work man 👍👌
!!😄😄Thank you !! Thank you for watching!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I replaced the ignition lock cylinder on a Toyota sienna LXE the car crank but won't start. I didn't use original part could it be the anti theft system
What year is ?? Yes you need to put old immo reader..its a little plastic ring the goes around the ignition lock cylinder
Did you program the key
No this vehicle does not have a transponder!
Great video!!
Thank you Robert!!
Absolutely. Love this channel I just found. Glad I lost my truck keys now. Hope I find them or else I will be using what you know to fix the problem all together. Genuinely appreciate you.

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE You got it brother thank you thank you. Found my keys two days ago when the ice defrosted!! Went out the door to get the part but lo and behold. The clicker even worked still. I put it in rice to make sure moister got out of it.
Can this work on Toyota Camry 2000
Yes
Well explained sir. Good job.
Thank u sir!
Thanks for the AWESOME video!
Thank You Carl glad you liked it!
Good job, good video!
Thanks for the visit
Excellent video,,, but I cannot get the key to release from the cylinder after sliding it back into position ( in the ACC position) and then turning it to the OFF position. They key won't come out.
Jon Randall same here
You may need a new code cut key.
But after disconnecting the wire, it worked perfectly.
good job on figuring out the issue!!
