Volvo is amazing, I drive a 2021 XC60 T5 sometimes and it's incredible. Especially if you don't approach it as a fast ride but rather as a luxurious, safe and comfy vehicle
I appreciate that you don’t quote gas mileage cause you know it will be an unfair comparison with frequent full throttle sends and lots of idling. It’s annoying when other youtubers quote these numbers without realistic normal everyday driving.
I really like the XC90... I'd pick it over probably any other big SUV. They're comfortable, practical and don't do things over the top... solid interiors without all the bling and shiny bits you'll find in other luxury SUV's.
Q7 better overall. But yeah many will pick xc90 because of Volvos imago. Audis are considered too "luxorius/jerk" card brand here in Finland. Our people are jealous and thats why you might get hate for driving Audi but not really Volvo.
I’m from Germany. And I do drive an XC90 😎 Even the two countries are close to each other, they have a totally different culture, and they have a totally different history. That’s the reason why they have different understanding what is luxury means. 👍
I fought hard to get the XC90 but I ended up going with the X5. The drive in the BMW was just better. I still lust after the Volvo every time I see it on the road. Such a beautiful design.
Yeah tried that a few times with my xc90 t8. Its the only way to hit 5.4 0-60 but the trans makes a major clunk noise when shifting to 2nd and it breaks the tires loose. Probably not the best for the trans
@@redline18 This trans on Volvo(8AT) turns to comfort rather than sport. It shifts a bit slower than ZF8AT on such a low speed(1st to 2nd or reverse) or low rpm.
Next time you get a Volvo, ask for a set of leather headrest pillows. They perfectly complement the massaging seats. You’ll want them in every vehicle.
My wife has a T6 Inscription Polestar with air ride and B&W audio. She wanted one for years and loves it. I was so surprised by what a great car it is that we are going to trade up for the T8 in a year or two. The safety is such peace of mind when we are hauling around our toddler and any family and friends.
If you can get a tour of the IIHS in Virginia, and get to observe a crash test,you will gain an appreciation for what works and doesn’t work in preventing motor vehicle crashes.I was fascinated with the science they use and blown away seeing a test crash at the IIHS.
The plug in was a win win for me. Way more power plus perfect range for work and errands. Would be nice to have more range though. But I’d never drop to the t6. T8s power is impressive. Plus if you buy new, most areas have incentives for electric so it comes out to barely much different.
I am the proud owner of a 2018 XC90 Inscription T6. had it six months, took it for several 1000 mile road trips and it performed great....love the interior, adaptive cruise, B&O sound, air ride and brakes that will make you stop......took me six months to find the trim combinations I wanted....since purchase I have added heated steering wheel and soon the Polestar chip upgrade.

I've had my XC90 R Design since 2019 and it's consistently been my favorite daily. It's still such a good looking car and the comfort is above anything I've driven, especially for its class. Can't recommend these cars enough

Unfortunately, most premium cars in the recent years and on will definitely have forced induction as well as electric batteries so it'll be a common sight sooner than later

Just booked myself a 2018 lease return 2018 XC90. These cars are wonderful bargains in the used car market. If you're getting a used one then only get it CPO from a Volvo dealer.
Apart from the fact that I adore this vehicle, as a dad of four kids who has a Dodge Grand Caravan now, it’s really hard to compromise the huge space for luggage in the back of the thirdly row, all these 7-8 seaters SUVs don’t have such space. I think it’s my destiny to stay with the Van for practicality, though I hate driving it and it consumes tons of gasoline!

This is probably the best SUV in the world. It has the practicality (7 seater with boot space), fuel economy 6.4 km / 100km and performance 400hp+, air suspension option, HiRes audio
My wife just got an XC60 Inscription and man I love that thing. It's so damn comfortable and the adaptive cruise with lane keep assist is actually the best I've used so far (although I've only tried it in a couple cars so far).
Volvo was a dream car purchase for me. I bought a 2021 XC60 T8 Recharge in December 2020. After 6 months of ownership, and 5000 miles, my Volvo dealership has agreed to buy it back. It has spent 30 plus days in their service department due to hybrid system failures, electronic gremlins, etc.. I loved it when it was working, but I need reliable transportation, especially for a car with an MSRP of 72k. Shout out to the Bowers and Wilkins (that always worked).
Jakob, my solution to housing my stupid car purchases has been to buy more homes, put them on Airbnb, and lock my cars in the garages. Income properties and car storage all together!

I just purchased a new Volvo T6 Inscription with a Polestar tune for my wife. Wow! What a nice utilitarian and clean looking SUV. It is hard to find SUV's that are still "boxy" or square. Most look like an egg shaped spacecraft from 'Flight of the Navigator'. The squared shape creates more room in the back, allowing my two German Shepherds to have pleanty of room! What really sold us was the third row vents!!! Andy the Lab is exactly right! It is hard to find mid-sized SUV's with third row vents. I drive an old 09 F150 with a lift and 35's, so the Volvo feels like a rocket ship to me. The Polestar tune really helped with the midrange performance! I recently visited my brother in Spokane, WA or Spocompton as I call it, and it was a blast carving through the mountains. Granted, I put custom 21" wheels and 295 tires on, so that really helped. Anyway, great video you guys!

Yurt and Jakob have you seen Volvo just released a new trim level for the T8 XC90 called “Inscription Expression”? (MSRP about $68k) We just purchased ours and we absolutely LOVE it! It ends up being cheaper to own than our previous gas XC90, depending on price of gas in your area. I’d love to see you guys do a review on that trim. Volvo released it in order to entice more people to switch to electrified Volvos.

Its a super comfortable long distance cruiser -- hybrid electric battery don’t last that long but its a start on EV pathway - the electric power makes it super smooth pick up - loads of space for family travel - seats are terrific - adaptive cruise control and lane control makes life so much easier on 4/5 hour drives - if you going on long family roads trip great car - visibility is good out the back seats for passengers - everything is practical / functional - infotainment system and the whole car is less bling than Merc/BMW but its a car and works fine for your camera / climate - wouldn’t use it for short trips around town but if your buying a volvo your probably want to do your short trips on a bicycle ! Superb family SUV.
Ain't gonna lie, the Volvo XC90 on the road is so refreshing to look at, traffic constantly jockeys to keep it in view. Of course I'm much too responsible of a driver to engage in that kind of behavior myself.

Top 2 candidates with Q7. Test drove the T8 hybrid but was turned off by the engine noise that passed in to the cabin. All the eco friendly initiative LoL

@@msusocal Corporate has been pretty tight lipped about the XC100. We are expecting it to be a Full Electric Cadillac Escalade sized competitior, whereas the Successor of the XC90 will either be an EV/Hybrid XC90 or get a formal name change separate from Volvo’s usual naming scheme. We’re in a weird purgatory currently where marketing and corporate are still trying to figure out the naming schemes of the next Gen cars and the markets they want to target. But there will be two separate XC100 and XC90 models targeting various sizes. One obviously being bigger than the other, they may just not have those specific names when they launch.

The truth is: Volvo do a *Launch Mode in cars. Full throttle with full brakes and waiting 2500-3000 rpm then release brakes. It works.

My 2020 V60 CC has 20,000 miles. It's still like new not 1 issue. Your right the Bowers audio is totally awesome!

All the competitors that you mentioned (or try to), like BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Mercedes GLE, have plug in hybrid models and a third row seats.

Next xc90 is xc100?
@@msusocal Corporate has been pretty tight lipped about the XC100. We are expecting it to be a Full Electric Cadillac Escalade sized competitior, whereas the Successor of the XC90 will either be an EV/Hybrid XC90 or get a formal name change separate from Volvo’s usual naming scheme. We’re in a weird purgatory currently where marketing and corporate are still trying to figure out the naming schemes of the next Gen cars and the markets they want to target. But there will be two separate XC100 and XC90 models targeting various sizes. One obviously being bigger than the other, they may just not have those specific names when they launch.
